Few areas are more beautiful than Santa Barbara, and your home-away-from-home is nestled in woodsy Mission Canyon with privacy and views of the Channel Islands. Designed by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, Kem Weber, you will enjoy the natural environment of the canyon.

Relax in the foothills above the in-town tourists, and experience Santa Barbara as a Local. Only 5 minutes away from everything, including a city shuttle to the beach and downtown, this one-story, easily accessible home is ideal.

The front walkway winds past a garden of native plants sheltered by four giant oak trees, with a succulent garden at the entrance. A brick, covered patio in front is ideal for watching the sunset, while the back covered patio is perfect for sleeping, reading... or just plain doing nothing.

* Quiet, queen-bed room (A child may sleep on futon/sleeping bag in bedroom.) Bedroom opens onto lush, back garden with covered patio, table and barbecue.
* Bathroom has tub and shower combination, hair dryer and skylight.
* Fully equipped kitchen with skylight includes cozy dining area, dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, large refrigerator, radio, purified water and instant hot water dispenser.
* Flat panel TV, DVD player in bedroom.
* Wireless Internet.

**No smoking. **Pet may be permissible.

Local family members of owner are available for assistance with limited questions or problems. Caretaker periodically on site.

* This mild-weathered, year-round, California Riviera town has maintained limited growth and caters to two adjacent wealthy communities, thus the area has available the services and entertainment of a much larger town.
* Dozens of movie theaters, several live theaters, symphony, opera, art galleries, museums, and active nightlife, and great restaurants are examples of this influence. All are open year-round.
* Four area colleges, including a University of California, contribute to this rich culture as well.
* From this home you are a 10-minute drive to quiet beaches, great restaurants in a quaint downtown and mountain walks. Drive another 20 minutes and you are in the increasingly discovered Santa Ynez Wine Country, where the Danish village of Solvang is a popular stop and ballooning is available.
* Santa Barbara Harbor has boats to take you out deep-sea fishing, scuba diving on the Channel Islands, whale watching or just a sunset cruise along the coast.

  • Although they usually don't rent for less than a week, Pat and Jo Ann are sometimes willing to rent for a couple of weekend nights -- not the entire house -- but a bedroom ( with coffeemaker and fresh coffee), bathroom, your own private entrance and back yard. This house is always immaculate and fresh, and we love hiding away here while enjoying Santa Barbara.

My husband and I like to cook for ourselves and found the house well equipped with kitchen accessories. The neighborhood in which the house is located is lovely with many trees and mountains in the background. We hated having to leave it!

The house was lovely, peaceful, and big enough for 4 adults to hang out, cook and laugh -- all while a baby slept in the next room... We were especially appreciative of being able to book for less than a full week.

  • My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. If it hadn't been for the house, we wouldn't have liked Santa Barbara very much. We love the area and the privacy. The hot tub was great and well worth it. I would recommend to anyone to stay there. Thank you for making our stay so great.

  • I stayed here for a week during Christmas. The house is attractive, very comfortable and very clean. It is in a particularly nice section of Santa Barbara. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable. I settled in right away as if it were my own home. I highly recommend this house.
