Great Condo in Maui

We recently returned from a two week trip to Maui with our two teenage sons and had the pleasure of renting Leif and Joy's condo. The condo was great, providing all the amenities you could ask for. It was spacious enough for all of us and close to many beaches and central to all Kihei businesses and activity. We loved exploring the area and were especially fond of the wonderful and unobstructed view of the ocean from the lanai where we could watch the surfers every morning at Cove Park. There were plenty of good restaurants and activity (beaches, shopping, bars) within easy walking distance of the unit and we also enjoyed using the swimming pool and tennis courts. Leif was very easy to deal with and answered all my questions promptly and without hesitation. Thanks Leif and Joy.........I'm sure we'll be back again.

Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Great place to stay on Maui

We have been in several of the condos at the Shores of Maui, and this unit, by far, is one of the cleanest, and most accommodating. Everything we needed was provided: coolers, beach chairs, towels. The unit, with its loft, offers spacious living, and the amenities are wonderful (flat screens, excellent air conditioning, fast wifi). If you are looking for a great value, prime location with easy walking distance to beautiful beaches, this unit is well worth the money.We would recommend this as your first choice when staying at the Shore of Maui.

Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We stayed at unit 216 for 5 nights and I wished we could have stayed the whole summer! :) We fell in love with Kehei and the location of Shores of Maui complex. Everything you need is just footsteps away. I was so impressed with the view and the fact that we could walk only a block and we were right next to shops and restaurants and bars. We found Polo Beach which was our favorite beach! We rented snorkel gear and went snorkeling at Polo beach and were able to see 3 beautiful sea turtles! I can't wait to go back! Thank you so very much Nielsens, you were such great help with all the info you provided. I will definitely be back! Mahalo!

My friend and I stayed in 216 at the shores of maui for 9 days and it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful views, right by great surfing and a nice beach, really nicely decorated and immaculate. It is also a couple of minutes walking to stores, restaurants, and bars. I plan on coming back to Maui with my Mom and we'll definitely stay here.

We had a wonderful time. The unit is beautifully decorated and the view from the lanai is unparalled. We especially enjoyed surfing every day at the cove across the street, snorkeling at Ahihi By in Makena, and getting lots of use out of the Shores of Maui tennis courts and swimming pool. Thanks!

We had a GREAT time! We spent 17 fantastic days there on Maui and actually a fair amount of time in the condo. We would wake up every morning with the sunrise over Haleakala(which you can see from the master window) snorkel and swim and hike and explore all morning until we wore ourselves out and then come back to crash for a nap in the afternoon, go out to eat at one of the dozens of nearby restaurants (we recommend Alexanders, Maui Tacos and of all the poorly named places Fred's Mexican Cafe-its GOOD.. we swear)for dinner and then stroll the walkway in front of the condo and watch the sunsets. You can even sit on the lanai and watch them if youre feeling especially lazy. Either way... dont miss one. Theyre all amazing and unique. We used the kitchen quite alot and it worked very well for us. The a/c was outstanding, we could get the main area cooled within 5-10 minutes of turning it on so we didnt ever feel like we had to leave it running while we were out. The couch was very comfy and the master bed was AWSOME, we are concidering buying one like that for our own home now! We loved having a w/d in unit(we went through alot of laundry) and everything was very clean and nice. Also Leif was GREAT, anytime i had a question or needed anything he was really polite and prompt with a response and i really appreciated it. Thanks guys for letting us enjoy your oceanside home. We cant WAIT to go back (and we are recommending you to all our friends!). Oh! and btw, beautiful job decorating, it was very well done. Felt like a home, not a hotel. Big bonus points :)

We had a wonderful time - thank you for sharing your sweet island home by the sea with us! It was all just as you described. It was great to be able to watch all the surfing while I cooked in the kitchen or sat on the lanai. Our son taught himself to surf one day with a bit of help from a stranger. We loved the pool. The bed in the Master BR was especially comfortable. Great to be near the markets and restaurants too. Next time we will stay longer!

My friend and I just stayed in this unit for a long weekend while our boys competed in a hockey tournament. The unit has an incredible view and is within walking distance to a park, beach, grocery store, shops, restaurants, etc. The boys loved having the XBox and while they were entertained my friend and I could enjoy a drink! The pool area is nice and we had a large gathering of hockey people for a bar-b-que one night. The unit has tennis rackets which the boys used to hit some balls on the tennis courts. I recommend staying here. Be aware however that in the summer especially the loft and bedroom area can get hot during the day even with the air conditioning on but they both cool off at night.

Owner response:Staying cool in the condo. There is airconditioning and 4 ceiling fans in this unit. Keep the living room and loft fans running counter clockwise and the floor fans upstair running while the A/C is on. This will keep the upstairs cool. Also in the bedroom keep the ceiling fan on, running counter clockwise, and the fan on top of the washer dryer to draw the cool air into the bedroom. This works really well and sometimes it's too cool.

When i drove past the condo i was disappointed however once inside i was thrilled. The condo is spacious, love the view of the ocean from the kitchen, living room and the balcony. All amenities and the beaches are right there. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for sharing your home away from home. P.S. There should be some pots put in the kitchen, i could not find one.

So, I wrote a huge long comment on this condo and our trip but when I submitted it, this thing didn't like a character I had in there somewhere and erased it, told me to do it again. BUMMER! Now you get the abridged version. The condo was great. Clean, secure, comfortable and we felt right at home. The view and location were excellent and we felt very safe coming and going even at night. You can walk to food and shopping and the rest is just minutes by car. The pool area was very nice and relaxing. You can wlak across the street with no problem and there are plenty of sidewalks and is well lit. The bed is soooo comfy and the loft area is huge. Honestly, we did not spend much time inside but we did get up and make breakfast and coffee. We were able to stay an extra few days and Leif and Joy were more than fair and accomodating, very easy going and laid back.
