I stayed here for a long weekend in September 2011 and really enjoyed it. The house actually has 3 apartments and I stayed in the rear downstairs 2-bedroom. The apartment is quiet, well-maintained, and it looks as if the carpeting and tile floor are new. The bathroom is a bit small (shower only) but, again, looks pretty new. The small private porch is nice, and the cute backyard has chairs for relaxing (it's probably shared with the other apartments, but they actually have their own deck as well, so this backyard seemed pretty private). This would be a great place for a small family. But the best part is that it's so close to the beach. It's listed as 3rd from the beach, but with the ocean-front house basically on the beach, it's practically the 2nd house from a really nice stretch of beach, it's that close! All the amenities listed were available and working (tv's, a/c's, microwave, etc.). I would really recommend this place and hope to go back again!

Recommended for:Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car.

We had an awesome time at this beach house! It was the perfect location- 3rd from the beach. I could run back to give my little ones a nap, make lunches, go the bathroom, anything! The place was so clean, the parking was great, I never worried about the kids playing out front, they LOVED having bunk beds, my mother in law was happy to have her own room. We really only ate breakfast and a couple dinners there, lunch on the beach, some dinners out. Even though i have a family of 7 now- I'd get this place again!

Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

Fun in the sun

My family and I had a wonderful vacation experience in this home. Three houses from the beach...awesome! We rented the second floor and were very happy with the accommodations and amenities. The decks were great. Loved having the use of a community washer and dryer. We vacation in Surf City every summer and look forward to renting this home again next year.

Recommended for:Families with teenagers.

Not too happy at the beach

I have to honestly say the location was the best thing about this house. The outside seating for the front unit was a sad excuse for outdoor eating. The main living area was nice and the indoor dining table a good size. But overall the house needed some many needed repairs. A very noisy air conditioner in the childrens bedroom could not be used at night due to the noise. A broken chair for the indoor seating left us to bring in an outside chair for dinner. It felt on the dirty side and run down. This house has potential, but all in all, not one of our better trips.

Owner response: We have had a number of customers who have been long term renters. The house has been substantially upgraded during the fall. New carpeting was installed in all common areas. New flooring in the dining room and bathrooms is currently being installed. The kitchen, dining, living areas and hallways have been freshly painted and other upgrades are plannned. New air conditioners are now in 2 of the bedrooms.
