Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2004

We were introduced to this magical place by a group of very dear friends in September of 2004. It was love at first sight. The unbelievable white sand beach, the tranquil clear turquoise water and its proximity to abundant wildlife and the Zapitillas makes this place a paradise we had only dreamed about.

Why the Owner Chose Salt Creek

We both had spent many years in the rat race of Washington D.C. The whole 8AM to whenever five plus days a week and fighting the Beltway traffic took its toll. We were ready to relax and enjoy life. At Casa Amarillo we have that relaxed life style so rich with unsurpassed beauty. Were else could you take a short trip to town in the morning for necessities and in the afternoon snorkle, kayak or swim at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

The Unique Benefits of this House

Casa Amarillo is located on a pristine white sand beach where calm water gently laps the shoreline. Life is literally "put on hold" once you arrive and the day to day problems fade to a distant memory...if only for a week or two. We love to spend as much of our time in Panama at the beach. The cottage is healing to the soul with the sheer beauty of the environment, quiet days with sounds of birds and star filled peaceful nights.

Remote Paradise Getaway!|

Date of Stay: 08/08/10 Review Submitted: 08/22/10

My family & I spent a week at this house in August 2010. To say that we had a great time here would be an understatement!! The beach is fabulous, the water is perfect and full of conch shells!! The house is gorgeous, clean and very comfortable however we did not spend much time in it because we were out enjoying the water! The photos do not do this place justice; it features a beautiful deck, airy lanai, fine wood finishing and comfy beds. The kitchen is fully stocked and the washing machine comes in handy! We spent most of our time snorkeling the clear waters, checking out the local reefs with the kayaks, and exploring the area. Michael & Christine (caretakers) REALLY added to our time here and brought us out on tours -- they care for several homes and guests in this area and are always available to help make your stay perfect. Our day trip to Zapatillas with Michael is one of our highlights on this trip! We also went on a sailing/fishing trip (see Martin & Mickey at Al Natural) and caught some kingfish (we even brought some back to cook up at the house!) -- we loved it so much that we went twice!! We also ate dinner at Al Natural: the food is very good ($30 for 3-course meal, one pre-dinner drink and free-flowing wine at dinner) and worth the wonderful 20min walk along the beach --reserve your spots a day in advance. Bring a flashlight with you for the walk home...and you can use it to 'light up' the ocean's phosphorescent krill! It's like a sparkling sky full of stars but in the water!! (Or just sit on the deck and watch the phosphorescent light show - looks like Northern Lights!) And the sky here is so clear that you see more stars than you can imagine! I hope to return with my family - we all enjoyed ourselves so much! We really miss Blanco, a local dog, who would come visit us every day! Word of advice while planning your food purchases for the week: buy more than you think, ice melts quickly and you can always trade your extras with the neighbors! We gave our extras to the local Peace Corps rep at the end of our trip (he really jumped at the peanut butter and canned tuna!). Our time in this area will always be a family favorite....plus, no TV/Internet meant more quality family time!
