Giudecca Island

Venetians say that Venice is in the shape of a fish and Giudecca is the ideal spine. Eight islands give shape to this spine which is only 2000 meters and 300 meters wide. Only a few meters away from Saint Mark’s Square this island has always lived differently. Many Venetian noble families built beautiful summer villas surrounded by gardens and orchards. Also some churches, monasteries and convents were built on this island. As time has gone by these religious buildings have been transformed into industrial factories. In the late 19th century the old monastery of San Biagio became a grain mill known as the Molino Stucky. As you walk along the Canal della Giudecca and leave behind the Residenza Grandi Vedute you can start visiting the churches on the Island. The Redentore designed by Palladio is the most famous. Today, this peaceful island is home to many Venetian families who came here to relax. It’s the ideal place to enjoy the Venetian lifestyle.

Lovely apartment. Great value.

We could not have been more pleased with our accommodations at Residenza Grandi Vedute! The apartment was spotlessly clean, large, comfortable and quiet. Everything needed was provided. The view was fantastic! Having the use of the shuttle service was easy and extremely convenient, you could get to and from Venice at any time. The management spoke excellent English and was available to answer all of our questions. The daily breakfast provided in the room and the maid service were an added bonus. This is one of the best bargains in Venice, and we thoroughly enjoyed the island of La Giudecca. We would HIGHLY recommend staying here!!

My wife & I rented a one-bedroom apartment at Residenza Grandi Vedute for one week and we were completely satisfied with our choice. The room is spacious and immaculate; the location was extremely convenient; the views were absolutely spectacular; and the service could not have been better. Luca and Giovanna were helpful and cordial in the extreme and provided a level of service above and beyond what one could expect at the best hotels. It was such a pleasure to stay in this beautifully appointed apartment. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Venice. Thank you again, Luca. We hope to see you again soon.

We really enjoyed our stay. Giudecca is a peaceful, scenic alternative to being in the middle of Venice, and the room was ideal. Great view, plenty of space, reasonable price.

This property is beautiful ! The apartment was outstanding, the location tranquil, the people who met us were helpful and gracious. We loved everything about our stay at Residenza Grandi Vedute. It was very easy to get to and from Venice using the shuttle boat in front of the building. The view of Venice from the gorgeous windows was so nice to wake up to in the morning and to look out at in the evening. The apartment was large and nicely furnished, the building itself is very interesting. The breakfast that is left in the apartment is plentiful. I would highly recommend this apartment and would love to go back !

After a fabulous breakneck Tauck tour of northern Italy which ended at the Gritti Palace, the Residenza Grandi Vedute was a soothing and elegant place to decompress and reflect on all I had seen and done. The corner apartment had unobstructed views (even from the comfy bed) of the Guidecca Canal; it was difficult to getup and going. The espresso machine and all the necessities for simple meals replenished daily made going out less urgent also. You can get anywhere from here and there are no crowds to deal with on the island. Next door there is the Marriot Hotel with their launch which you can use to take you to San Marco and a restaurant and bar. A short walk takes you to Harry's (Cipriani) Dolci for amazing dinners and take the vaporetto to the San Basillio stop to a wonderful market that has anything your heart might desire. I got a multi-day pass and hopped on and off vaporettos at will. I am a very demanding solo traveler and I cannot find even one minor problem to relate. If you need a gym, wake up service, shoes shined, nails done and hair coiffed, this may not be the place for you. Shame on you; you should have stayed home. A most authentic Italian atmosphere.
