This home is a treasure with frogs lulling you to sleep at night, ducks, and birds in abundance. The home itself bursting with artistic charm and homey personality. Great for family or friends retreats. Our Mother's Day weekend at the Islandhouse with family is now a treasured memory! We also enjoyed the Diamond Knot Brewery Restaurant nearby for a casual dinner. The hosts of the Islandhouse couldn't be nicer. We hope to return soon to see the progress on the huge handcarved stairway bannister. We couldn't believe the fun interior decorations and attention to detail with colors, themes and vibrant colors. We thank the homeowners Martha and Noah for sharing their hand-built home and fun forest retreat hideaway with us!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in July 2011. Our group included myself and husband, 2 young kids (6 and 2), and another couple. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place or location! You are certainly close to everything on Camano - shopping, grocery stores, 2 state parks, restaurants, etc. You are also very close to Seattle, Mt Baker and other great spots. We loved just hanging out at the house, playing horseshoes, barbecuing and the fire pit is awesome! We had a fire every night we were there, and used the hot tub almost every night. This house has every amenity you need -- fully stocked kitchen, games for kids, an extensive movie and music library, even musical instruments! Our kids loved those, much to mom & dad's chagrin at 6 in the morning! Beautiful details in the home - you can tell it is much loved and cared for. Martha and Noah were fantastic hosts - very easy to communicate with and eager to make our stay comfortable as possible! While you don't have the water views like some homes on Camano, the seclusion and quiet of this home makes it relaxing and wonderful. As our older daughter now lives in Seattle, it's very likely that we will return here soon! Thanks!!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your unsolicited review. We look forward to your return.

"Dear Martha and Noah, Your beautiful and unique home proved to be the perfect setting for our fun, restful and renewing family vacation. We were close enough to Seattle to spend time away from the hustle and bustle and really escape. We had both friends and family come stay and go during our week long vacation, and we wish we had just a few more days to take in all that Camano Island and this special spot in the woods have to offer> We will highly recommend you@

"Dear Martha and Noah", Thank you for trusting us with your beautfiul home. Its warmth, transferred through its beautiful decorations and surroundings, allowed us to have a unique time and experiences. The smorgasbord of a activities, ranging from rummy to horseshoes got the best out of us. The Crockett tournament became extremely competitive and exhausted us after hours. It was good to be able to rest by the fire pit after, enjoying the crunchy yet soft flavor of some smores. It was good to be able to connect with each other in ways the workplace does not allow us to.. THANK YOU!"

Martha, thank you so much for letting us use your gorgeous house last weekend, and even more for stretching the check in and out times so that we could optimize our time. We all absolutely loved the house and all the unique artwork, the bannister-in-progress, the fiery stained glass overlooking the living room. I was the only one who made use of one of the three big bathtubs; that was a special treat. And what a setting, but I suppose I don't need to tell you about how lovely and woodsy it is. Know that we all made very good use of our writing time there. It was a productive weekend for us as artists and a cozy one for us as friends.

Thanksgiving 2010- from Olympia, Ellensberg, Portland and Vancouver BC "Things we like and/or love about this house: The mini pizza wheel thing that is really great for cutting croissants; the banister carving in progress which you can see at every stage; open plan living, dining kitchen; stained glass; power outlets next to bun beds; oval shaped tubs with jets; wood floors; roasters an rafters; trestle table, acoustics that are great for small ensembles; wine glass holders in dishwasher; kitchen big enough to hold a majong game, Spanish coffee making, picking at a turkey carcass, and doing dishes all at once; really industrious beavers making away at 2 Doug Firs by the pond; salad spinner with outboard motor pull start technology; assortment of serving dishes that accommodated T-day dinner, Costa Rican breakfast, cheese and sausage tastin, paella, poptarts, etc. etc."

Marth, I brought my women's ministry from a seattle church out to your home last June. It was so beautiful and relaxing and wonderfully comfortable. We really enjoyed the campfire pit and spent a couple hours outside roasting marshmallows and signing praises to the Lord. It was just so peaceful. We were blessed with by the visit of several bald eagles in fact your neighbor said he had never seen so many at the same time. I am looking forward to returning again and being blessed. Thank you so very much.
Owner response: Thank you Patricia, I know how busy you are. Wishing you well and looking forward to connecting again.
