We had an excellent time! Took our twin daughters and about 8 of their friends to a 18th birthday celebration! Location was out of this world we saw dolphins and even horse back riders on the beach. Late night walks to go crab hunting was a blast. Owner even called us on Saturday to make sure everything was in order and to see if there was anything we needed! This was very surprising. The house was nicely funished and plenty of room for all to sleep comfortable. Even with 10 teenagers having a good time late at night and into the morning the house is so well built we never heard them upstairs. So many things around town for the teens to do even in late April! Everything was clean, bedding, towels, furnishings, etc! Our only suggestion is for the shower heads to be replaced hard to get shampoo out of long hair with the ones in showers at this time. I would definitely recommend this property to others! And I'm definitely booking again!!!!

Our stay was outstanding. We were very impressed on how clean and neat it was. The furnishings were much more than we expected, the pictures do not do it justice. A perfect getaway for romance. We plan on coming back and will recommend to family and friends.

The beach and location were great. The house needed work. The bathrooms and showers were gross, you needed to wear flipflops in the showers. There were ants in the kitchen, in the bathrooms and even in the master bedroom. The dishwasher did not clean. There was never enough drinking glasses. There was a problem with the septic/sewer on the half of the duplex and there was a foul odor when you would go outside by the cars. Would definitely go back to Emerald Isle, but not this house.

This house is a great place for a stay at the beach for extended family, family reunion or large group, or for a romantic getaway. The duplexes have an interior connecting door which is great. There are two BRs on main floor with living, dining, kitchen & deck which was great for grandma who has trouble with stairs. The master BRs are large & absolutely great with an out of this world view of the beach & ocean and a private deck. (I'm bringing my girl friend back for a romantic stay this fall.) The place was clean. It was well equipped for cooking, meals, etc. for everyone. The furniture was several notches above any other beach house I've ever been to. There was plenty of good deck furniture. There are two washers & 2 dryers. Some of our group absolutely loved the hot tubs. Everybody wants to come back here next year.

Had a blast staying at this place. They think of everything. They even provide beach toys. Will return. Really liked it. Expensive furnishings. Good decor.

We have vacationed oceanfront in Emerald Isle for over 15 years and stay at a different home each time. This is the first time we have used VRBO. While the owner was responsive to phone calls, we feel the property was not as described. This house is in disrepair and needs attention to those things which are basic to a relaxing vacation. We stayed on the West side. For example, the upholstered couch smelled so bad that we were unable to sit on it without covering it with a sheet. The refrigerator dripped water into our food all week. There was 1 wine glass for a house that sleeps 12-14. One set of sheets had a large tear and we never did find queen sheets for the one bed. The bathrooms were in disrepair. For example, the exhaust fan did not work..the bathtub could only be used as a shower and the shower stalls were cracked and repaired with some type of paint on surface. Midweek the outside foot rinse off broke- the plumbing had been replaced with a piece of garden hose that ruptured sometime during the night) leaving us with no foot rinse off. We have always stayed in similar size/priced houses. We expect some dampness, bugs and splinters from the deck. The concerns we had with this house went far beyond that. The beach, as always, is beautiful at Emerald Isle. There is a nice deck at the beach end of the walkway where we spent mornings and evenings.
Owner response:Thank you for your review. The problems are being taking care of.

I stayed at this property and had no issues whatsoever. The home is clean and in very good repair. I would not hesitate to rent it again. In fact, I just finished making my reservation for next year.

I wanted to wait until we had been home a few weeks before writing a review in order to recall the things that made an impression the most. Our family stayed on the west side. I have really appreciated reviews from others and feel it is important to future tenants to provide a fair, honest review--good or bad. The location to the beach was phenomenal! We loved being right on the beach and being able to walk right on to it. The water was cold, but that's the time of year. The beach was empty so that was nice. Kids loved all the sea shells. We even saw some horses. The property was ok. We did not realize it until we were there, but most of the pictures posted on the website were for the East side, not the west. The west must be an older unit. The bathroom shower on the main level was not useable as when we turned it on all the holes in the shower head were clogged except one or two. The bathrooms were small and the showers were cracked and it just felt unclean. The unit was not stocked with some basics--toilet paper, soap, etc. like we had been told it would be. There was not a DVD player in the master bedroom. But there was a cassette tape player on the main floor :). Kids loved the big tv on the main floor (though it's not a flat screen like the East side) and they loved the tv's in the different bedrooms. The hut tub was a huge plus. We loved that. We also loved the beach toys and the hose on the deck to clean off all the dirt. We gave this place a 3 star because the property was older, bathrooms not acceptable, and overall not what we had expected from the pictures and reviews (though at the time of this posting only one review showed they stayed on the west side), but the beach and hot tub were a huge plus!!! When all is said and done, I would only recommend this property (west) if it was a lot more inexpensive than the others or if the bathrooms were fixed and decor updated.

My husband and I stayed here for our 1st anniversary. We have been to Emerald Isle several times and usually stay in a condo. This duplex was great because it offered an amazing view of the ocean and easy access to the beach (just a few steps off the porch and you're there!). We were so close, we could even hear the waves hit the beach through the closed windows as we drifted off to sleep. There were a few cosmetic things that were needed to spruce the place up, especially in the bathrooms, but it was clean and had everything we needed.

Twelve quilters, complete with sewing machines, ironing boards and fabrics enjoyed the stay occupying both sides. The connecting door gave us easy access to each other. The large dining room tables were a great work space as well as for eating. We found everything we forgot to bring in the small town. We enjoyed sightseeing on the pier, Fort Macon and Beaufort. We plan to return this year and take a day trip to New Bern. The steps up from the road side are steep, so we used the steps on the beach side. There was plenty of parking. I would prefer the hot tubs wiht a view of the ocean. The deck with picnic tables and comfortable chairs was a great place to socialize. The units were basically clean, we had no problem with the bathrooms as have been mentioned in other reviews. Perhaps we were having so much fun we did not notice.

I actually meant to write this review back in October and failed to do so. We rented both sides of the cottage for our wedding week. It worked out great! The cottage was clean and we did not have issues with the bathrooms as one review has stated. Our wedding was held directly in front of the cottage late in the day on October 7th. There were 20+ people that stayed in the cottage and we had not problems with the size. The only issue I had was a service guy showed up on Monday looking for air conditioners. It. would of been nice to know that soneone would be stoppping by. This is an "older" cottage but we had a great time and would recommend the cottage to friends.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your review and congratulations on your wedding!

Stayed here last June, rented both sides of house with total of 4 familes. Excellent home, very comfy and inviting. Beautiful views of clean beach. Awesome shelling. Lovely house with wonderful amenities and homeowner was extremely gracious to work with. Emeral Isle has lots to see, great places to eat and the beach is fantastic; clear sugar sand.

This is great place. It is beautifully decorated. The beach is what an ocean front beach should be, perfect dunes and not crowded. Lots to do in the area and many excellent restaurants and shopping nearby. For what you get the price is far better than anything else we found.
