Privately located in the fishing village of Savage Harbour is our retreat, "The Buoy". The pine cottage with cathedral ceilings is directly on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence with water views from every window. Enjoy morning coffee in your pj's on the East deck as you watch the fishing boats. During lobster season you can watch the boats head into the harbor and then drive down to get the freshest lobster you'll ever eat. Savor a glass of wine on the West deck as you watch the sun drop into the Gulf or spend the afternoon reading and dozing in the sun. From the beach in front of the cottage you can walk west to the fresh water springs bubbling up in the middle of a pink sand beach. We have a lovely swimming area less than a 5 minute walk with sand bars and WARM, WARM water. The area is ideal for families with children.
From Savage Harbour you are only 20 minutes to Charlottetown with its wonderful live theatre, museums, antique shops, galleries and waterfront. Excellent restaurants abound across the Island as Charlottetown is the home of the Culinary Institute of Canada and top chefs are trained there. If you bike, the close village of Mount Stewart has access to the Sentner bike trail and bikes can also be rented. For golfers the Links at Crowbush Cove are 10 minutes away and tennis can be played at Dalvay. The best mussels in the world can be purchased in Morrell and strawberries and blueberries in season are the sweetest you'll taste anywhere.
Savage Harbour is centrally located for taking day trips to the eastern and western ends of the Island.
We fell in love with Prince Edward Island 38 years ago and it has become our adopted home.
Our cottage has 3 bedrooms which sleeps 5. We have a fully equipped kitchen with microwave. The cottage has a washer and dryer and all linens and towels, even beach towels are provided. All you need to bring are your clothes. We have a wood burning Franklin fireplace for atmosphere or the occasional cool night.
