Love this house!

Cons (although, none are deal breakers for return rental): rockers and/or a hammock would be perfect on the porch. Storm door would be great on the front door. Kitchen utensils (spatulas, slotted spoons, etc) need an upgrade (dollar store grade). Master suite upstairs needs add'l sleeping space. Too much wasted space. Bunks and/or futon would add more sleeping capacity in that unused area. Pros: VERY clean, pretty decor. Fantastic front porch provides shade even in the afternoon sun and was comfortable for outdoor dining with 5 ceiling fans. Golf cart and departure cleaning being included is awesome! Property management is an absolute blessing to work with. Nice, quiet street in a great family campground. Ample covered parking also allowed room for children to ride scooters without being in the road. Very spacious enclosed outdoor shower and storage shed. Spacious laundry room. Wii and PS2 with games are provided which was an unexpected, pleasant surprise. You cannot go wrong staying in this great house!

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

EXCELLENT VACATION RENTAL

This house & it's furnishings are absolutely beautiful & very clean. We would definitely recommend a stay here to anyone. It is located on a somewhat quiet & shady street so we especially enjoyed the very large covered porch w/ceiling fans. The fact that the golf cart & departure cleaning is included in the rental was a definite plus & helped w/our decision to rent this house but once we walked inside we knew we had made the right decision for more reasons than those. The listing photos actually do not do it justice. There were a few things that could be improved on in the kitchen but certainly nothing that would be a deal breaker for us. Overall it is a wonderful vacation spot that my entire family loved.

Recommended for:Age 55+, girls getaway.

Not quite what we expected

We have stayed all over the Myrtle Beach area, and other areas in rental properties, so we have plenty of comparisons. With that said we had a couple of issues with this home. The good: newer home, very attractive, great deck. The bad: we had the most expensive week available, and for that amount of money you expect certain amenities, especially when you travel with 8+ people. The kitchen was our biggest concern, to say the least. Briefly, there was a total of 6 drinking glasses, one broken. There was just enough silverware and plastic dishes to make it thru one meal. Utensils; the only one I recall was a large metal spatula, no spoons, serving utensils, nothing. There were few pots and pans and they were very, very old. The only large frying pan had teflon standing up all over it, unusable. That left us to use an 8 inch one that was so old the teflon was gone, and we had to cook in shifts. We tried to cook spaghetti and macaroni, no colander, had to go buy one. The only can opener was a very inexpensive, light weight one that would not work. I had to drive to the store, during cooking dinner to buy one so we could finish cooking. In a nutshell, this was the worst stocked kitchen any of us had seen in a rental property which meant we ate out more, costing us more. Living room; seating for 4, anyone else was in the floor or at the bar in the kitchen. No lamps or side tables, just overhead lighting. TV's: all older tube models, only one working remote in the house. We sent the kids to the room that had a 10 tube model with no remote. Master bedroom TV was acceptable but no remote. Try surfing thru 100 channels with no remote or channel guide. We didn't watch much TV, but that's not the point. Two items in the home were "repaired" with duct tape. We were concerned we might be charged for the damage, although we were not. We had a great stay at Ocean Lakes but this property needs to have the kitchen updated with just a few pots and pans, a few spoons, some glasses, even plastic ones, a can opener, maybe a colander, ect, so that a large group or family can cook easily. Some inexpensive universal remotes would work, maybe even a cheap dvd player from Wally world would be nice. Its a nice house but we would not stay at this property again, at this price point, unless some of these issues are rectified.

Owner response:This home has recently been purchased by a new owner. All of the above mentioned items have been addressed. The kitchen is now stocked with all new pots and pans, glasses, silverware, plates, etc. everything one would need to cook on their vacation and make them feel at home. There is new den furniture and the issue of the TVs has been addressed with new ones put in place. We want everyone to enjoy their stay while vacationing in this home. If there is ever a problem, please bring it to our attention immediately. We only live 15 minutes from the park and we will be glad to solve any issues that may arise during your vacation. Please don't wait until you go home or check out. Had the above issues happened and brought to our attention immeidately, we would have taken care of the issues and the guest would not have been inconvenienced. I'm sorry that happened during a guest's stay, but again, anytime something is not right in a rental, please call us as soon as possible and give us the opportunity to take care of the issues....because we will!!
