Christmas at Negresco Apartment

Date of Stay: 12/23/11 Review Submitted: 01/07/12

We stayed in this Negresco Apartment for a week from 23rd December 2011. On meeting Richard the english-speaking agent, he showed us around the fabulous apartment - it had everything you could need with the added bonuses of a jaccuzi bath and great location. The apartment has high ceilings, a comfortable, large sofa-bed (was a little concerned as have bad experiences with these before), free, easy to access wi-fi and all the other amenities you could want in kitchen and bathroom, including a washer/dryer. The apartment is on the 2nd floor and there are two lifts. The location is perfect - 10 mins from the airport by bus, 10 mins stroll along the Promenade des Anglaise to the Cours Selaya and the old town. There's a large supermarket around the corner and a plethora of local restaurants and bars (my favourite bar was Ideals Distilleries on rue Prefecture, give it a go). On leaving, the agent met us at the flat at the time agreed and returned our 100 Euro deposit. We would recommend this apartment and will definitely come here again,

An Apt at the Negresco In Nice

Guest: Dougan and Katrinka (Myrtle Beach, SC USA)
Date of Stay: 10/10/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

We just returned from a 10 night stay in October 2011 at this wonderful Negresco Apartment. Everything was exactly as described in the listing. It was warmer than we expected and the air conditioning was very nice to have. The photo's don't show how really big this apt is. It was perfect for us. The location is central to everything, especially the Promenade des Anglais. With the warm weather, we were thrilled that the apt had two beach chairs and beach towels for us to use. We spent two afternoons on the beach, one on the public beach and the other at the Neptune Plage just across the street from the Negresco. Nice is really an easy city to walk around in. We walked, rode the buses and trams, and also used the Train. After watching the bus go by us at the stop, we realized that if your bus # is coming you need to flag them to stop and pick you up! We did day trips to Cannes, Antibe, Eze, and Monaco/Monte Carlo. Only 1 Euro each way. We took the train from Cannes back to Nice and it was about 7 Euro's for both of us. We walked along Rue de France (1/2 Block behind the Negresco) toward Place Massena most days. There are many shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes along the way. Also, walked and rode bus from the Promenade Des Anglais to Old Town. More shops and cafes with lots of history. We had to leave very early for our return flight to US, 4:30am, and knew that it was too early to catch the bus to the Airport. Gloria assurred us it would be no problem. Emma was there at 4:25am to return our deposit and Richard had called a cab to pick us up at 4:30am as promised. Gloria was so helpful through out our booking and provided very detailed information in the apt. Emma showed us around and told us where everything was located in the apt. We would recommend this property to anyone that wants to spend a worry free vacation in beautiful Nice. Thank you Gloria, Richard and Emma! We are looking forward to a return trip.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in October as part of a 17 day anniversary trip. We booked apartments in Paris, Nice, Florence and Rome, and the Negresco apartment was my favorite place to stay. I felt like I could have lived there! The apartment was far more spacious than I expected. It was spotless. The furniture and sofa bed were very comfortable. The location cannot be beat. Everything you need can be found nearby. And then there's the tub! Gloria's wonderful jetted tub was such a treat. Great value in a very prestigious neighborhood - right next door to the famous Negresco Hotel.

Thank you Gloria for this beautiful, comfortable apartment. This place is clean, nicely furnished with everything you could want or need to relax and enjoy visiting Nice. This surely the best location in Nice. We walked everywhere from this apartment, because this location is so perfect. This home away from home was exactly that. The choice of restaurants in the area are endless. Anything you feel like eating, you can walk to. Tour buses were great and we especially enjoyed the trip from Nice to Monaco, which was spectacular. Gloria, you are such a kind, wonderful and understanding person. Thank you so much, We have to say also that Richard was very welcoming to us, and we sure plan to return.

This property was fantastic. The listing was accurate and complete and the photos were true representations of the apartment. We were met by the rental agent at the agreed time and she was extremely helpful introducing us to the apartment and answering our questions. There was a book of information as well. The property was clean, well-maintained and well-equipped for a fabulous stay. There is very good air conditioning when the weather is hot. A lot of time and thought has been given to this property. The area was convenient to bakeries, shops and the beach-all within a block of the building. It was about a 20 min. walk from the train station. The owner was very professional and extremely helpful in answering our questions. Emails were always answered promptly. I would definitely recommend this property and hope to stay here again in the future. Nice is a lovely city and I would recommend visiting the Musee Massena next to the Negresco. It is a beautiful, interesting museum with no charge for admission.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Negresco Apartment. The apartment itself was clean, charming and very conveniently located. About half a block away from the Promenade, a block away from a grocery store and many buses, and a pleasant walk to Old Town and the Port. Right next door is the beautiful (and free) Massena museum. Having wi-fi in the apartment was great: we were able to look plan our day trips, museum visits, bus trips and even video chat with our kids back home! Gloria and her assistants were all very friendly and helpful. We would love to return.

We stayed in the apartment in July 2011 and it was great for us. The studio was large enough for my wife and I plus our 14 year old daughter. It is just a few hundred meters from the beach and close to some great local restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, butchers. It is also walkable to the train station, although we took a taxi to the apartment when we arrived. Gloria was great to work with on the contract and made it a great experience all the way around.

The Perfect Place to Stay in Nice!

Guest: Afton (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 05/30/11 Review Submitted: 06/08/11

We visited Nice as the last leg of a trip through France, and staying in this apartment was the perfect way to end our vacation. Staying in the historic Negresco building was a real treat, and the studio was beautiful and much larger than we had anticipated. The location is superb--directly on the beautiful beach and an easy 10-15 minute walk to Vieux Nice with wonderful dining and shops. It was also very easy to walk to the bus station (Gare Routiere at the Place Massena, about a 10 minute walk), where the fabulous Cote d'Azur bus system runs hundreds of buses throughout the region throughout the day (just 1 euro per ride, wherever you go!). We took a day trip to Grasse and then Cannes by bus which was quite wonderful. It's also very easy to get to the train station (15 minute walk), or to the airport (10 minute ride--take the bus if you can, as it's quite easy and MUCH less expensive than a cab, as we discovered). As for the studio itself, it was very clean, well-decorated, modern, comfortable, and very quiet. The air conditioning was lovely, and the free WiFi connection was excellent as well. It was the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring or laying out on the beach. The bathroom is lovely and large (and the tub is heavenly!), and it was wonderful to have a washer/dryer so we could pack light. The kitchen was quite small, but fine for storing some groceries from the Monoprix and making snacks and light meals. Speaking of meals, make sure to visit Adonis in Vieux Nice (along the Cours Saleya) if you like Moroccan food (best Moroccan meal we've ever had, and a refreshing change from the typical touristy French cafes), and Le Safari (also along the Cours Saleya) for excellent French fare (get the Daube Provencal!! You won't regret it!). In short, I highly recommend this studio for anyone looking to stay in Nice. It's perfect for a couple, and the location is second to none. Gloria and Richard were wonderful to work with and easily reachable before and during the trip. This was the perfect way to end our trip to France, and we won't soon forget it! We hope to return very soon!

We really enjoyed the apt. @ Residence Negresco! It really was a suberb location - the beach across the road ( my husband had 2 swims a day! ); and just a stroll to the amazing flower market and old town. The studio apt itself was lovely...very well appointed (although we could have used facecloths!); a great bathroom and a very efficiant kitchen. One of the biggies for us was how quiet it was!!! And we also were able to avail ourselves of the Nergesco ammenities - the fabulous bar...and lovely terrase restaurant. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Nice...and would definetly rebook ourselves. Thx Gloria and Richard! Ron and Susan of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Date of Stay: 04/15/11 Review Submitted: 05/03/11

Nice in April.....Let me first start off with how Gloria is such a wonderful, kind and sincere person. She was great from the start, from making the reservations, paying for the apt., kaing sure we were met at the apartment even though we got in later than expected. And being a quick call away if ever we had a question. It was our 20th Anniversary and was looking for something close to everything but away from the crowds. This apt. was perfect and met all our needs. The bed was firm but not too hard that it wasn't comfortable, the kitchen had just enough space to store our food. The dining area was nice to enjoy a nice dinner and a glass of French wine by the window. The jacuzzi was amazing and so retro, my husband says he wan't the same thing now for our home. We also had plenty of towels and bathroom space for our personal items (in the drawers) Everything was so clean and everything was in it's place. If you are looking for something affordable, clean, and want to rent from someone you can trust and rely on, THIS is it!! Thank you sooooooooo much Gloria, we really loved our time in Nice, partly because you made our experience perfect from the start!! We will definitely look you up again next time (hopefully next year). Have a wonderful year!! The little kabob place and the Moroccan restaurant around the corner was good, and for those of you who like Seafood.....there is a hidden place (an esplanade) if you go to the main road (beach front) take a left, walk until you come to this Gelato place on the left, there is a walk-way through there, go down the walk way and there's plenty of restaurants to chose from. The first one on the right, not good...however, if you go half way down, in the center of the esplanande, there's an all you can eat Oysters & chips for $14.99. They have SEVERAL flavors to chose from and you can pick a different one each time you order your refill!! Enjoy!! Monte Carlo isn't far either!!

Perfect, exactly what we wanted!

The pictures don't do the apartment justice, the place is exquisite! It was very clean, beautiful and very spacious. Perfect location, walkable to all the neighborhoods and we loved walking across the road to get espresso every morning at the beach front cafes. My boyfriend and I went in October and it was perfect, just after the busy tourist season but still warm enough to sit outside comfortably. Even though we were not staying in the hotel part of the Negresco, the concierge was kind enough to arrange things for us like car rentals and taxis to the airport. The woman who met us there to give us keys didn't speak a word of English so that really tested my French, but it didn't bother us at all. The man who met us at the end to retrieve the keys was also very kind and knowledgeable on the history of the building. The apartment offered us everything we needed to enjoy our week in Nice! Even a great selection of DVDs and area guide books. The elevator for the building was small but we just took it one at a time with our suitcases. We loved walking to Old Town every evening for dinner or going to bars. There are so many amazing restaurants tucked in every alleyway in old town. A shop owner recommended La Safari for the best fresh seafood -- right in the plaza where the daily flower market is. It was always crowded so try it for a late lunch. The day trips to other towns along the Riviera are a must! It is only 1E for a bus ride to many of the other towns, like Eze Village (eat at the Restaurant Château Eza -- the most amazing views of the Mediterranean, we sat there for hours!), and Monaco (be sure to see the casino Monte Carlo, it's fun to grab a drink at Cafe de Paris and watch the sports cars drive by). You can see the whole Riviera from Nice by bus, all the while staying at this fantastic apartment. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic place in the Riviera!

My girlfriend and I stayed at this beautiful apartment, which was only a block off of the beach! This spacious apt offered all the comforts of home while being away, but also offered exactly what we were looking for in a rental space. Excellent location, 10 min walk to old Nice(which we loved) and like I said only a block from the beach! Great place, we highly recommend it!

Our one month stay at the Negresco in the Gloria's apartment has been fabulous. The site is perfect and the decoration of the apartment is very well suited to this building full of history. Gloria, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful apartment with us. We spent our last 4 days of the 3 week vacation in France. We were greeted by her agent who provided us with information about the apartment and our surroundings. It is close to the beach & to bus stops (including buses to and from the airport..#98 & 4 Euros per person ), a pleasant walk to Old Nice or shopping, ect. Gloria made of stay very comfortable by providing beach chairs, mats, & beach towels. The jaccuzzi bath was quite a luxury especially after a long day exploring Old Nice and Monte Carlo. This is an ideal area for people who enjoy walking and exploring Nice and who prefers a quiet location. We will definitely recommend this apartment to our friends. Merci Gloria

We spent a great week here in August 2009. Nice is at it's busiest then but this apartment is a really quiet haven even though it is a very short walk to the promenade. There are many good value restaurants around this area so if you don't feel like cooking you can opt out. My one Nice attraction I always make time for is the Monday flea market in the Cours Saleya. Gloria has everything you could need for your stay and I can thoroughly recommend this apartment.

We recently returned for a 2.5 week vacation in France. Our final destination was 6 wonderful days in Nice. We were 2 adults and our 15yr old son. We were amazed at how comfortable and spacious Gloria Negresco apartment was. It was perfect for our relaxing getaway. The beds were comfortable; the kitchen had everything we needed. The best part of this flat was the location. The Residence Negresco is located right behind the Famous Hotel Negresco which is a highlight of the Promenade des Anglais. There are 2 public beaches within 3 min walk. You are also a 3 to 5 min walk to local cafes, the grocery store, and a chocolate store. A 15 min walk to the old town where you’ll find shopping, bars, and an amazing array of restaurants. We had a car for 2 days of our stay, although parking was limited, there are ample spots available around the apartment... you may have to wait a few minutes for one to become available. We were amazed at how quiet it was considering how busy the area is. Looking back it is hard to think of anything we would change. I would rate this apt 5/5 for is charm and location. Our stay at Gloria’s apt truly made us feel at home in Nice. We would recommend this flat to anybody who is looking for a great stay in the South of France. I only hope this Flat would be available the next time we travel to that region.

The apartment was beautiful, with lots of space to store things and spread out. It was fun being in the same building as a famous hotel. We were 1 block in from the boardwalk and beach, and an easy 15-minute stroll along a busy pedestrian street lined with stores and restaurant to the old town and main square. It's rare for a French studio to have a fully separate kitchen, but the one Gloria has made is down a hallway and beautiful. A door separates the entry, kitchen & fancy bathroom from the studio itself. It was clean, had EVERYTHING we needed, the sofa bed was very firm and comfortable, the heat was adjustable (and Gloria also supplies a fan), the jacuzzi tub/shower was AMAZING, and the flat screen TV and DVD player were great (including a channel in English and a movie library). My only recommendation would be to bring a travel book lights, if you like to read, since the lighting is soft and gentle.
