Our extended family of 15 enjoyed all the comforts of home, with incredible beauty both inside and out. The house is gracious and open, but you can keep the kids close by too. Not cavernous, but room for everyone to enjoy. The kitchen is fully equipped. Doors surround the house and invite you to be part of the amazing English gardens that captivate the birds and people!! The mountains and sky are constantly changing. We didn't want to leave. To add to that, the owner, Lynn, is so hospitable and easy to work with. The Valley is warmer than the coast and doesn't get as much fog. It's about 15 minutes away from Carmel. It was the perfect place to celebrate our youngest son's wedding at a Holman Ranch.

I stayed at this beautiful property the first week of September with my husband, our 2 and 4 year old girls, and four of his adult family members. It was a perfect place for a large group, very spacious with three very nice bedrooms and an office with a pull-out bed that worked well for the kids. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we made some terrific meals there. The views of the highlands are wonderful, and my kids spent hours playing in the small gardens around the house. The photos on the website are exactly as the home appears. You definitely need a car, as the home is quite isolated.

We stayed at this wonderful property the last week of July and were very pleased with it. Beautiful house and great nature just outside the door! The owner was helpful and gave us lots of info about what to do during our stay. While it was very foggy by the sea we had nice sunny weather so it is really a good idea to stay in Carmel Valley instead of down by the sea. We can def. recommend this house to others!

What a wonderful weekend! My husband & I joined three other couples (all with our first children, ages 8 months to 18 months) for a wonderfully relaxing weekend at the Chateau. We cooked all of our meals in the beautiful kitchen with fresh veggies & herbs from the garden & even fired up the BBQ one night. The rooms were spacious & the decor was lovely. One afternoon we traveled over to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, had lunch on Cannery Row & cruised the 17 Mile Drive. The 17 Mile Drive was a great nap time for the wee ones while us adults took in the beauty of the coast! We took long walks around the property & even saw a hawk take flight from a tree nearly 5 feet from us! As an amateur photographer I was able to capture some gorgeous shots on the property of the garden, the valley & the mossy cypress trees. The garden has an abundant amount of lavender which continuously scented the air around us. We stayed in the Valley Vista Room & I am so happy with our room choice but all of the rooms are so spacious & lovely & it was hard to decide which one we wanted to stay in. Perfect accommodations & the wine was delicious to boot! We are already planning our next trip with our family! Thanks so much for a lovely, much needed vacation!

We just returned from a 3 night stay here and it was amazing. Definitely the nicest house we've ever stayed in. The home is clean, spacious and beautiful. Bathrooms and kitchen were well equipped with anything we needed. We came with family from England and they loved sitting out in the sun overlooking the gorgeous surroundings while drinking their tea. We loved the outside area for the kids to run around or the driveway for them to play t-ball or soccer. It is an ideal home for 2 families since there are two separate areas (2 bedrooms in each part). It was the perfect location to drive to Monterey and Carmel (there are even aquarium passes which saved us a good amount of money!). Lynn was just an e-mail or phone call away to answer our questions and we enjoyed a free wine tasting in the tasting room.

what a great week!! the location is fantastic right on the top of laureless grade, with great views. This house has lots of character, and that amazing vintage Wolf stove made us some wonderful meals. we had plenty of room for our group of 7. walked the vineyard one afternoon and even ran into the owner at the Baja Cantina. Fun house and would recommend it! And the wine is not to be missed.

Our cycling team stayed here for an event last weekend and absolutely loved the chateau. The setting is amazing with beautiful views and a very tranquil environment. The house is also amazing with very high level finishes and great open areas for socializing. I highly recommend this property.

Wow, what a gorgeous property and fun place to stay! We had a group of girls for a bachelorette weekend and it was the perfect setup - fab kitchen, great bedrooms, and plenty of space to lounge around without feeling like we were on top of each other. Everything is well-stocked if you want to spend the whole weekend in the kitchen (like we did - hey, it was raining!) but I definitely recommend getting outside for a hike or a wine tasting in the village to work up an appetite. I wish we'd be able to stay for a week! Thanks for the hospitality Lynn, hope we can come back soon!

As a vacation rental owner and general accomodation snob, I was so impressed with this home and Lynn the owner who met us at the house to give us a tour and explain everything. The attention to detail is top notch and the views are simply breathtaking. Warm and inviting, completely stocked with everything you need, it's a great place to relax and enjoy friends and family. Thanks Lynn - we'll be back!

Our three children, their spouses/boyfriend and granddaughter (8 weeks old) and labradoodle (very well-trained and behaved) all enjoyed our 9 day stay so much. The photos do not capture the spaciousness and well thought-out layout that allowed our family private spaces and great gathering places in the Great Room, living room and out-of-doors. We missed the big blizzard in New York, and instead, we were enjoying the chilly but great Carmel sweater/vest weather, outside hiking on the property and enjoying the beautiful gardens and view and going biking and to the beaches. We had more family visit for a few hours for a 20+ dinner. We all fit very well and all loved the house. We would return again soon when the occasion arises.. We are an East and West Coast family. Who knows where we will be next year. We highly recommend this Chateau and its 3 master bedrooms and office/convertible bedroom to anyone for any amount of time. The owner, Lynn, was so helpful, affable and she truly has a wonderful sense of design and decorating to match the lovely Chateau and its surroundings.

We had an amazing experience at the Chateau – all three of our families together fit comfortably in the luxurious yet rustic house. The location is hidden on the hillside overlooking the valley. The garden and adjacent vineyard create a peaceful, relaxing and beautiful setting. We saw hummingbirds and deer as we sipped their great wine gazing at the garden. We felt like we were in the middle of the country, yet it is just 10 minutes from Carmel Valley Village. Truly a marvelous spot!

Owner response: We love having family groups. The great room combined with the open kitchen plan make communal dining a wonderful experience. The country setting really is relaxing and nature is abundant.

The place was fantastic. The property and its amenities exceeded our expectations. The rooms are very spacious and the common areas (kitchen/living room) are great for small or large groups. There were even 2 roll-away beds that were used with ease. We handpicked some vegetables from the garden and used it for our BBQ. Visiting the owners tasting room in Carmel Village is a must. Our only recommendation is to arrive at the house before sunset.

I had gone with my extended family and we were a group of 12. We had an amazing time in the Chateau and the pictures are a complete understatement of how open and well done the Chateau is ! We had a great time playing cards, cooking and BBQing together. The views are beautiful and we all even had a yoga session in the morning. The rustic stove provides character to the kitchen and its a little difficult to use in the start but once you get a hang of it, its fine. I would recommend this place to all for a relaxing vacation.

We had a family get together here and it was great. The views from the house showed off sunsets that were slightly more beautiful than the sunrises. The hikes were nice and the house was cozy and spaceous. Thx

What a fantastic find! Our group of 8 came out for a road race, and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of Lynn and Paul. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated, though we probably spent most of our time in the kitchen, cooking and eating! Other weekend highlights included: the perfect window seat for reading and bird watching, the large soaking tub in the master bedroom suite (perfect for after a race!), wonderful walking trail, and the awesome outdoor grill. We plan on coming again next year!

Beyond our expectations! Relaxing, elegant yet comfortable. Perfect views. Wild Turkeys. Running trail. Wine tasting with Lynn cannot be missed. Stayed here with 3 families, 2 toddlers. Perfect separation of "guest wing" and master wing. Can't say enough about our 5 days of magic, despite rain.

This Chateau is magic. The pictures understate its calm beauty, size, luxury and comfort. The kitchen and great room are wonderful for large groups to just hang out in and the living room is an oasis of peace. The wine tour with the owner is special, and the wines are excellent and a real treat, esp the unfiltered Chard. We also had Lynn arrange a chef - this was heaven. He made everything from scratch at the house. We were in Carmel for the day, returned to candles lit everywhere, an atmosphere of magic, and the most amazing smells coming from the kitchen. The many course meal served with wine pairings was simply out of this world. The setting for this home is gorgeous and very private. Great views. Great walks and runs. This home easily accomodates 3 couples, each in a spacious bedroom, each bedroom with its own character and calm elegance, plus kids elsewhere (or another couple can take the study with its own ensuite). We all just loved this place, and would return in a flash. The grace, kindness and intelligence of the owners are reflected throughout this home. We left with many fond memories, and a real desire to return to this magical chateau. Note also that while many places say dog freindly, they often arent so friendly. This one really is - your dog will be welcome, and will love flopping out on the (stunning big board) hardwood floors, and going for walks through the paths and grounds. This home has my highest recommendation.

We booked this chateau as part of my cycling team/club's annual training camp lodgings. Though I wasn't involved in camp planning, I was more than pleased to be staying here. The views are quite gorgeous, especially in the evening and the location was perfect for our team...a nice climb/downhill from the main access roads that was part of our training rides. The house was more than adequate to comfortably accomodate about 10 members of our team and the wine tasting was a special bonus. Oh, the Chardonnay and Pinot that they make on site...good stuff.

We had a wonderful stay in Carmel Valley, the house is wonderfully built in a a beautiful isolated valley. Nature is abundant in short hikes around the house. Don't miss on the wonderfull wine tasting hosted by the winemakers and owners. Highly recommended for a wonderful family gathering or a getaway of any sort.

We had such an amazing weekend - we kayaked in the Elkhorn Slough, cooked to our hearts content, played board games, drank wonderful wine, enjoyed the most beautiful vistas and the glorious scents of lavender from your home - it truly was paradise. Our jaws dropped when we saw the size and finishes - really beautiful and definitely a selling point. Ditto for the view out the back, though I'm sure it's difficult for pictures to do it justice. It was really nice to have toiletries in the bathrooms and thank you for the kind use of some of your pantry items. We all had hot water all the time, comfortable beds, great linens, and it was great for a group of our size (8) as we weren't all on top of each other. We all felt that it was an Extremely good decision to stay with you and wouldn't have changed a thing about our stay - thank you again and we'll keep you in mind for similar trips and/or to refer others.

Two couples stayed at this secluded French Chateau in the Carmel Valley hills. We went for a lovely walk in the country and through vineyards as well as enjoyed this spacious, extremely clean and comfortable home. It was 5 minutes away from the Bernardus Lodge where we ate sumptuous meals (Wickets and Marinus restaurants), & 8 minutes from the charming Carmel Valley Village. The views were not only beautiful but brought a sense of serenity to our hectic pace of life. We loved the Koi pond too. We'll return as often as we can!
