"Bass Lake is a freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada, located 14 miles (23 kilometers) from the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. The lake is considered a "warm water" lake with water temperatures reaching 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months. Most of the land around the lake is part of the Sierra National Forest. The United States Forest Service designated the lake an official Recreation Area and has developed campgrounds and picnic areas on the south shore of the lake. Much of the area surrounding Bass Lake is devoted to the tourism industry."

- Boat Mooring on the lake adjacent to North Shore Estates Community is permitted primarily during peak-season. Boat slips can also be reserved in advance at the marinas. Day use at the North Shore end of the lake and swimming is permitted. Safe! Year-round marina is located at The Pines Resort & Marina with casual and fine dining, entertainment, shopping and boating needs. Other marinas with amenities during peak season are Miller's Landing Resort & Marina and The Forks Resort. Fuel for watercrafts is availble on the lake. Major local town of Oakhurst has just about everything to service your vacation needs, with a variety of dining options, shopping, entertainment, and a host of services. Included are Von's and Raley's Supermarkets and Rite-Aid and Long's Pharmacy. Local interests can be found at The Pines Resort/Village in Bass Lake and Tenaya Lodge Yosemite in Fish Camp with seasonal and holiday events and activities.
