Located in the scenic hamlet of Orient, the accommodation has 180 degree water views of Shelter Island and Gardiner's Bay. The newly renovated and very charming apartment suite is composed of a kitchen/living room, bedroom, and tiled bath.
There is a large waterfront deck overlooking a private sand beach and a lawn seating area surrounded by an 8' privacy hedge. Private entrance.
The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances and a wide array of pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. The decor is simple but tasteful; designed to be comfortable and beach-friendly. Guests provide their own sheets and towels for weekly and monthly stays.
The charming village of Orient is the easternmost of the north fork towns. It is located 4 miles east of Greenport across a narrow causeway which separates the bay from Long Island Sound. It lies 6 miles west of the end of the island,
Orient Point, and Orient State Park. Nestled in this beautiful marine environment, the hamlet, which is built around the bay, is reminiscent of a small New England town with cedar shake houses, old churches, a designated historic district, and no commercial development other than a post office and general store.

This was our first stay on the North Fork having been to many of the usual places in Montauk, the Hamptons and the Cape. We loved it. Clare and David are wonderful hosts, It is obvious that they take great pride and care in keeping up their efficiency apartments. Orient is not a scene, it has the calmness and peacefulness of a small seaside community. Clare and David's place offers privacy, clean apartments and a very restful stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Beautiful setting right on the water and private beach. Immaculate accomodations with comfortable beds, adequate facilities for cooking and great porch for enjoying breakfast or a cocktail at sunset. The owners are really lovely people and made it clear that they were available if we needed their asistance with anything. They gave us information about interesting places to visit during our one week stay. This is an ideal place to be for a week or month because it's an apartment that's comfortable enough for a long stay. It's fun to settle in and feel "at home" on the beach. In fact, that is exactly what we're hoping to do when we return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Awesome spot! I've stayed here a few times over the past several years. Its my favorite low-key getaway from the city. The main feature of the cottage is the beautiful bay right outside your window, and the property's private little beach steps from the door. Red-orange sunsets are just gorgeous. Orient village is charming and understated and great to explore on foot or on bikes. My partner and I ride to three different swimming spots, hidden on the backroads. One can choose between the sandy calm bay where often you are the only people there, or the amazing pebble beaches of the Long Island Sound, or the crashing waves at Orient State Park. You can rent kayaks too. The cottage rooms are all very clean and well designed. The owners are knowledgable and helpful when you need them to be, otherwise, it feels like the place is all yours. Orient is a very special place. I highly recommend trying it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
