Special offer: Stunning Private Waterfront House - Discounted rate Details
This lovely oceanfront home sits on 3.8 private acres with a stunning and expansive view of Penobscot Bay. The ocean side of the house is lined with windows and french doors open to the spacious deck--perfect for grilling, relaxing and taking in the view. Wonderful wooded walking trails out the back door and a private clay tennis court within walking distance complete the experience. The house had a wood stove and 2 zones of heating - for chillier weather in late fall and early spring. This home is open, sunny and comfortable with water views from every room and wide pine floors throughout. The house has a half bath downstairs and three bedrooms and a full bathroom (with claw foot tub and separate shower) upstairs. The master bedroom has wonderful views, a full closet and queen bed. The guest room has a double bed, full closet and a water view, and the 'kids' room has two single beds and an amazing birds eye view of the water. This house combines casual elegance with charm for the perfect getaway.

This was the true Maine experience. A lovely house in a secluded location. Beautiful panaramic views of the ocean and surrounding forests. Although the location seems remote at first glance, the drive to local shops and businesses is short (15 minutes to groceries, restaurants, shops, etc.). Every morning we watched the lobster boats just offshore, numerous sailboats and beautiful sunrises. In the evening we enjoyed the deck and counted the lighthouses in operation. The moon shining on the ocean was beautiful. Our wildlife sightings were numerous. This was a very relaxing stay in a beautiful place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

It has been years since I enjoyed a vacation as much as I did this one. This house is secluded and tailor-made for relaxing and decompressing. The owners keep it clean and well-maintained, and it is a very comfortable place to stay for a week. The internet service worked great, even on the evening when we had a pretty good storm. The photos cannot convey adequately the beauty of the views from all of the windows and the deck, and, with the property being right on the bay, there is always the soothing sound of the surf on the rocks. With the binoculars kept at the house, you can watch the lobster boats working the traps offshore and even see the houses on some islands several miles away. I enjoyed sitting on the deck at night to see how many lighthouse beacons I could see flashing. Being as secluded as it is, you have the opportunity to see wildlife such as turkeys and deer. However, it is an easy drive to Thomaston, Rockland, and Camden, and an easy day trip to Bar Harbor and Mt. Desert Island. We highly recommend eating at The Slipway in Thomaston and The Brown Bag in Rockland. But just as enjoyable was the ability to hike around the property, sit on the deck or in the house with a good book, and have relaxed, unhurried conversations with my family. The only regret we had was having to leave when our week was over.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This place was great. I really felt like I was staying at a friend's cabin because it was so warm and inviting. They had a lot of stuff for kids and the kids room had plenty of toys and books. The view was AMAZING. We sat out on the deck for hours at a time, watching the kids play on the rocks. The house is very remote. It takes a good 15 minutes to get to Thomaston, but we didn't mind at all. The photos are exactly as the house appears, although I think they've gotten nicer bed linens since the photos were taken. The internet was a little spotty, going down on a very stormy day, but it really wasn't a big deal. The water was reddish from the iron in the well water, so I'd recommend bringing drinking water. Port Clyde is a short drive and there's a couple of restaurants there and you can catch the ferry to Monhegan Island. Camden is about 45 minutes away if you want a more touristy experience. Any time I had a question, the owner was quick to respond and very helpful. Honestly, this was one of the top 3 places we've ever stayed. We hope to come back and will recommend to friends and family.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have stayed at several locations along the Maine coast over the years and I have never really felt compelled to write a review. Not that the homes weren't lovely, but there was nothing "over the top" about them. This year, we found that "over the top" place. My husband and I celebrated our 26th anniversary there, visited by many friends and family during the week. Everyone was mesmerized at the beauty of the home, location, views, and comfort. The home is warm and inviting, the fireplace made those chilly evenings disappear, and the wildlife always put a smile on my face! We live in Central Maine, so leaving each day to tour around the state is never our plan. We pretty much stay put while inhaling the best source of decompression anywhere, the Maine Coast. Thank you Merritt for sharing this magical home with us and your other visitors. We made precious memories and will remember this summer's "week at the coast" for a long time to come.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Could not have picked a better place to stay for our week in Maine! The views, the wildlife, and the peace and quiet...Even though it rained the entire trip, the wood stove and ambiance of the home made our trip very cozy!! If you want a place to unwind, look no further. House is centrally located for easy visits to Camden and Rockport, and only a 2 hour drive to either Bar Harbor or Bangor...We were a couple staying for our 10-year anniversary, but the home would also suit a family. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Maine! Also, we were visited by a porcupine on our first night! I am not sure who was more shocked, him or us!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

This is a really nice place. We stayed here in the fall of '09 and it is all it is advertised as...beautiful ocean views, secluded, all the comforts of home, and cool towns of Port Clyde and Tenent's Harbor a short drive. We plan to stay here on future ME trips.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Why the Owner Chose Tenants Harbor:
My wife and I built this house on land that has been in my family for 4 generations. It was a huge undertaking to build the house - we had to extend the dead end road 1,500 feet, bring in power and contend with all the granite that makes up Maine's rocky coastline. It took more than a year to complete - but it was certainly worth the trouble!
