Hello and welcome to the Escape Klaus. We are the Klaus', and this is our custom lakefront escape. The Escape Klaus was built to provide a “base” with which to build up lasting family memories. We plan to leave the house in our family for future generations. We hope you find an “atypical” rental that feels more like your own home. We would love for you to come back over the years and share our house right on the lake - in the woods - in the mountains - a perfect way to disconnect from the world and re-connect with your family and friends.

Great House and great location. This was our 5th trip to Norris lake and I have to say that this was our best yet. Norris lake has become a busy destination in the Summer months and finding good smooth water is getting tough. This house is postioned far enough away from the busy sections of the lake but still close enough to buzz to the marinas for gas or dinner. The private cove is great for swimming and hanging out ... our kids could have stayed there all week and been happy. And the house .... beautiful and well laid out. Plenty of room for 2 or even 3 families and spread out enough to allow everyone their own space. Dock is great too. Covered slip for the boats and splinter free decking!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

Great place to stay with friends and family. Nice covered dock for two boats and jet-skis. Awesome lake!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

We decided to stay close to home this year during our family vacation....Great idea!!! Escape Klaus is an amazing house! Its absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Ted and Pam have thought of everything - from coloring books with crayons for rainy days to floats and chairs down by the dock for the sunshine (they even had a toddler bed that was sooo perfect for our 2 year old!!!) We took a family of 12 and had plenty of room. The owners even went out of their way to call and check on us to make sure everything was ok- They are amazing people to work with!!! The directions were a little tough to follow bc 90% of the street signs were gone and we actually found it easier to put in at Blue Springs Dock bc the dock in the directions does not have anywhere to park and is more like a driveway. But back to the house, like i said the house is amazing but the walk down to the water was definately a WORKOUT! The kids didnt seem to have any problems with it but the adults were another story - I recommend making sure you have everything you need and plan on staying for a while bc that walk back up to the house will def get your muscles working lol Will def plan on staying here again will just make sure im in better shape next time!Recommended for: Families with young children.

After 2 consecutive years vacationing at this haven in the hills, our family have friends have reached a concensus. We want more! Our goal for the summer of 2012 is a 3-week getaway. The house is so easy for relaxation, exercise, quality time...what else could a soul want? Well...more time!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

We have stayed at this wonderful lake house several times. We keep coming back because our families love it!!! The house is beautiful with all the amenities of home - well equipped kitchen, huge fridge, comfy beds, laundry room, and great screened porches to relax. The kids love the enormous HDTV screen in the basement to watch TV and play games after a full day on the lake. Everyone loves the quiet cove with no boat traffic. The covered dock is great for 2 boats, plenty of room. You can swim and sunbathe from the dock and even ski from the cove. The house and dock are well maintained and the owners obviously take great pride in their property. We would highly recommend staying at this boater's paradise!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

What a great house! Our trip was in mid-July. Fantastic location (private/marginal-to-no boat traffic, quick access to marina), beautiful home layout (fantastic kitchen w/excellent seating and views of the lake- most families I know spend alot of time near the kitchen-this one is great!). Everything is well thought-out and the home seems brand-new. Smooth (although steep) walk-way to the lake. By the end of the week our legs had made the adjustment going up and down the path! (who needs P90x ?!) Covered dock is awesome! We enjoyed this home the most of any home we've visited on the lake over the years- so much so that i'm reluctant for others to discover it ! A really great place!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

About the owner: Hello - here are all the Klaus' in one photo a rare find!- Pam and Ted( 29),Erik(18),Sara Jane(15), and Emma Jo(11). Pam does all the real work & Ted is a product development engineer for Honda. 'BK'(before kids), we lived and worked for 2 years in Japan, prior to settling down in Marysville, Ohio.
Why the Owner Chose LaFollette:
We fell in love with Norris Lake after our first visit in 2006. We love the simple beauty of the area, the stillness of 'our' little cove - Powder Mill, and the never ending possibilities that Norris Lake offers to us and to our family. Already we have re-connected with life as a result of building this home away from home! We invite you to build some memories at the Escape Klaus!
We built this house from scratch. Ted did all the legwork - with a wonderful custom plan courtesy of Richard Hlava (Ted's cousin) and the help of a local draftsman, we literally designed this house for us and our guests! From January of 2007 to March of 2009 we bought the land, planned the house, found our builder - Danny Russell, and completed all the details that go into a custom home - we hope you enjoy our house that can only hope to rival the natural beauty of the setting. We choose to build in powder mill based on the location on the lake. Our location is just off the main lake channel on a sheltered East-West Cove. The water in this cove is always smooth. Since the cove dead ends - you do not get all the boat traffic and waves - you can really relax down on the dock. Since the house faces east - even though we are nestled in the woods - you awake to glorious bright sunrises flooding the house with natural light. Powder Mill Cove is home to one of the oldest settlements on the Lake - Chapman Village. We think those early folks picked the perfect spot!!
