It's hard to find an affordable and charming vacation home rental in Mendocino Village. We don't rent frequently but when we do, we rent for longer time periods which means a great deal for you.
This is a rare private home full of Mendocino color and personality. When renovating recently we made sure to keep many of the original quirks of this 1880s cottage and have furnished it with hooked rugs, antiques, and all kinds of visual surprises.
On the main floor is an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area kept toasty warm by the wood stove in the living room. Our copper island in the kitchen is the centerpoint for food prep. The kitchen is equipped with a 5-burner DCS gas range and dishwasher. You can stand at the sink in the kitchen and look out over our large back yard which is old-Mendocino-style, not fussy, but a wide, rugged view all the way down to Ukiah St.
Upstairs the romantic master bedroom is paneled completely with warm, old-growth redwood and has western ocean views. It's like sleeping in the arms of an ancient tree. As a special perq, we've included a luxury massage table in the bedroom. The adjoining office has spectacular white water views of Mendocino Bay and is a perfect place for writing and reflection.
There's a quarter-bath upstairs and a full bath (shower only) downstairs. Laundry facilities are also in the main bathroom downstairs. You can get a great hot tub experience at Sweetwater Inn and Spa just down the street. That's what we do.
This is our home but we are out of town frequently. We've had requests over the years to rent it and we figure, why not?
If you want white walls, plaster board, and generic furnishings you should probably go somewhere else. But if you want a place with humor and flavor warmed by the woods that made the north coast famous, this is the place for you!
Our minimum rental period is a week, at $995/wk, (approx. $142/day). And for each additional week you stay, you get the 7th day free!
