'Get Your Bathing Suit On'is a custom-built, Key West-style beach home that has RELAX written all over it! This first-tier home is only about 100 steps to the beautiful, white, sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico. With its 3 separate sleeping areas, 2 & 1/2 baths, screened porch and sundeck, our whimsically-decorated home can easily accommodate a family or small group... but is still small enough for couples on a romantic getaway!!
We also try to simplify what you need to pack by providing all your linens, including beach towels, as well as a starter supply of paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, and detergents. There are also a lot of the basics in our pantry such as many spices and condiments.
For your convenience, we maintain an ample supply of beach chairs, rafts, and beach toys!
You can enjoy the sweeping Gulf views and spectacular sunsets from the living room, kitchen, dining room, loft, sun deck and screened porch. As you stroll along the quiet beach, you can find a variety of seashells to collect or just enjoy watching the dolphins swimming by or eagles and osprey scouting for prey. Of course, swimming, sunbathing or fishing in the surf are always a lot of fun.
Our neighborhood is extremely quiet and friendly, with no thru traffic - a great place for families with children, or for anyone who just wants to get away from it all!
Money Bayou is just a short walk down the beach where you can catch blue crabs, throw your cast net or put in your kayak to explore the winding waterway. Scalloping in nearby St. Joe Bay is also a lot of fun during the summer scallop season. These sweet, tender delicacies are a favorite for dinner or can be frozen to be enjoyed later when you return home. In addition, nearby Indian Pass is famous for its delicious oysters!
FLOOR PLAN:
The GROUND LEVEL has a bedroom with a full bed and a private 1/2 bath which is perfect for the mother-in-law or a guest couple. The garage is also on this level and contains the washer & dryer as well as a plentiful supply of beach chairs, rafts and beach toys for your convenience. There is also a hot/cold outdoor shower conveniently located on the ground-level deck.
The MAIN LEVEL has gleaming heart pine floors throughout. It contains the kitchen with breakfast bar, dining nook and living room that open to the screened porch with pub-height table and chairs that make it easy to dine "al fresco" while enjoying the view. In addition, the inside dining area has a very comfortable window seat perfect for afternoon naps or reading a book from our collection. The Master Bedroom, with queen bed, is also located on this level and has a private full bath. The second full bath is also on this level.
The LOFT, which serves as the third bedroom, has two twin beds with built-in drawers. It is perfect for kids/teenagers or friends. It also has a large open area that provides plenty of extra room for play.
The house has WiFi and all the bedrooms and the loft have their own TVs with DVD players. There is also a TV, DVD player and CD player in the living room. The outdoor speakers allow you to enjoy your music while dining on the screened porch or lounging on the sundeck.
Our area is reminiscent of "Old Florida." There are no tall condos or hotels anywhere near by! Our beaches are very quiet and peaceful, and in the off-season, in particular, you will rarely encounter anyone as you stroll quietly along the beach!
Our house is located just 1.5 mi. from Cape San Blas - which has been rated in the top five of the best beaches in the United States. Port St. Joe is only 10 minutes to the west, where you can stock up on all of the provisions you'll need. If you're not in the mood to cook, there are a number of great, local restaurants and night spots nearby. A golf course is only a few miles away and there are 4 separate boat ramps within 15 miles.
Just 20 minutes to the east is the historic and quaint fishing town of Apalachicola. Here you will find some great shopping as well as many wonderful restaurants and night spots. In addition, you can just walk along the boardwalk and see what catch the fishing boats have brought in for the day.
We invite you to stay at "Get Your Bathing Suit On'to relax and enjoy "Old Florida."

The Unique Benefits of this House
The closest restaurant is about a mile away. It is the Indian Pass Raw Bar and is famous for its oysters and other seafood (as well as for its VERY casual atmosphere.. it is a DEFINITE local culture experience you should try!) There are a few other restaurants that are fairly nearby, however, if you want even MORE shopping and restaurants-besides those that are nearby- there are a number to choose from in Port St. Joe (9 miles west) and Apalachicola (19 miles east), Mexico Beach (20 miles west) and Panama City (48 miles west).

My family and I stayed here last week. We had a fantastic time! The house was exactly what we expected....very nice! It was really clean and stocked with kitchen necessities for cooking meals. It was so nice not to have to bring from home beach toys, umbrellas, and chairs. We only had to pack a suitcase of clothes and flip flops for the beach. The girls loved the loft area and the top balcony! The beach was a very short walk away. There were only three or four other families on the beach anytime we were there which we loved! The views of the ocean from the house were great! We sat on the screened in porch and watched the sunsets over the water. It was a very relaxing week! We also did several things while we were there besides hanging out at the beach. We went horseback riding in Cape San Blas using Two-Bit Stables. We ate at the Indian Pass Raw Bar. The seafood was amazing and had been caught only a couple of hours earlier. We ate at Joe Mama's pizza place...absolutely the best pizza we had ever had. We visited the Cape San Blas Lighthouse as well. We really loved our entire experience there and will definitely use this place for our next beach trip! Thank you again for letting us stay and enjoy your home!

Better than photos, and even more beds than described. Could actually sleep 10 if needed-1 king,1 full,1 queen (in loft), 2 twins, and 1 queen sofa bed. Kitchen was very well stocked, plenty of towels, beach toys, etc. House was clean and beautiful inside. Owner was quick to respond, professional, and trustworthy. We loved having the beach almost entirely to ourselves. We also enjoyed the spectacular ocean views from the porches, and having coffee every morning on the top deck watching the sun come up. Very conveniently located between Port St. Joe and Appalachicola offering many choices for restaurants and shops. Many choices for purchasing fresh seafood that is out of this world. Love the fresh shrimp, bay scallops, and flounder! Highly recommend this property and will be back next year!

Actually, the description of the place and the photos did not embrace the reality of this place. I've rented a lot on VRBO and this was THE BEST experience we EVER had. The pictures do not do it justice and neither does the description. We had a couple tiny glitches when we got here and the owners not only solved the problem IMMEDIATELY, but they also followed-up to make sure things worked out. VERY HAPPY!!! Just some advice, bring a canopy for the beach and bring stakes to secure it. You can leave it up all week. There were a lot of sting rays in the water....a whole school of them came by us, but they won't bother you. Just shuffle your feet so you don't step on one. If you like to fish, this is the place. Saw an otter while eating at Boss Oysters in Apalachicola. Saw dolphins, a beautiful starfish, etc. Make sure you go swimming out at St. Joseph's State Park. It's paradise. Go to the lighthouse on Cape San Blas for HUGE shells. The Indian Pass Raw bar has the best oysters and crab legs I have eaten in my life. The only thing that would have made this place MORE perfect for my little family (9-year old girl, 3-year old boy) is if there was another outdoor shower. THAT THING ROCKS!!! Not sure if the showers in the house work, cause we never used them!!! Oh, we were here for 4th of July and watched fireworks from our balcony. Not a huge show, but my kids don't require a lot. Oh, bring bug spray. We did get bit sitting on the top deck at night and the screened in porch isn't completely screened in...so you still get bugs. Kids have loved the movies and the loft area is an adult free zone....my kids think THAT is fantastic. Oh, king size bed in master, two twins and a full in loft, as well as queen/full in basement room. Lots of towels, they have soap, shampoo/cond, even crab boil if you want to boil your own seafood. Did I mention we loved it here??

We had a great time. Everything was exactly as described and very user friendly. Fast Wi-Fi Super friendly locals, great location to visit nearby communities. Perfect distance to the beach. Loved the shaded screened porch, really nice in the super heat we had that week. Good communication from owner prior and following our stay.

We had a great stay at Port St. Joe and the property owners were wonderful to work with! We caught several fish and a small shark which my husband was very happy about! We watched dolphins daily as they swam back and forth. The beach is very clean and uncrowded which we liked a lot! You do have to walk past a house to get to the beach but it is still very close to the beach. The stairs in the house were a lot for me since I am pregnant but the house itself was beautiful, clean, and we truly enjoyed our stay. We did try going to the Indian Raw Pass bar but the wait was way too long (waited 1.5 hrs and still not seated), the atmosphere was very casual but we really liked the live music and down home feel. We would love to come back and try to go there earlier in the day. We ended up eating at the Sunset Cove and it was very good food and we only waited a few minutes. I have to say the owners of the property were very kind and I loved renting from them!

The property was more than what we expected. The house was well cleaned and maintained, having great working appliances. Everything you need for the week is there, minus the food and wine! We look forward to returning soon.

My husband and our lovely Lilly (dog) enjoyed a wonderful week in the peaceful setting in Port St. Joe. We could not have asked for a nicer setting and a more charming beach house. The house was very well stocked and very clean. We would definitely recommend this home if you are looking for nice views, calm waters and a totally relaxing surrounding. We would suggest the Indian Pass Raw Bar Restaurant. It was one of our favorites and just a short drive.

You couldn't ask for a better place to spend a vacation. It is as beautiful as the pictures and spotless. The beds are comfortable. It is beautifully stocked with amenities and the beach is steps away. Cape San Blas is an easy ride for more spectacular scenery. Pt. St. Joe and Appalachicola are lovely towns for a stroll and some shopping and the Indian Pass Raw Bar lives up to its reputation. That was some of the best seafood I have ever had. You really can't go wrong here, a lovely, comfy house located in an area that is what all of Florida should be like.

We just completed an amazing 5 days at this incredible home. It is everything we read about and more. The beach was not crowded at all, the water was delicious and the house was impecably clean and inviting with all the amenities you could possibly need or think of. We really only brought our bathing suits and clothes. We highly recomment going to Apalachicola - Eat at Boss Oyster, one of the top 10 Oyster Bars in the country, and shop the antique and eclectic shops. Count on us going back.
