My family and I had a wonderful time experiencing Maine and Acadia NP for the first time this summer and a large part of making the trip great was this wonderful home where we stayed in Southwest Harbor. The home is beautiful with a great front porch (where I recommend sipping coffee in the morning sunlight), and we immediately felt at home here. Even better, you can walk less than 5 minutes to a pier overlooking the harbor and 5 minutes in the other direction to food and a few small shops. The owners were very helpful and even left maps, guides, and suggestions on their favorite things to do which helped up immensely. Bar Harbor is a great place, but Southwest Harbor is quiet, relaxing and close to all the attractions without all the commotion. Lots of people visit Acadia, and by the end of the day a little peace and quiet is just what this house provides.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
