Imagine 12 women agreeing on anything??? Well, we all agree this place is "too good" to be true. Everything was clean and neat when we arrived. We loved the farm house with the big kitchen and all the lovely antiques and pieces of art. Sitting on the porch, relaxing down at the dock, or in the chairs by the firepit....so many places for sharing time together, then finding a private spot of your own. ( I loved the tree swing). One day we saw dolphins which was certainly a highlight! I would certainly recommend this property to my friends. It was just as the pictures looked, peaceful and beautiful. In looking at the picture album of the restoring and building of this resort, it is clear to see the love that went into each house. I felt it from the moment we entered the gate. It is a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Every year my sister's, cousin's and I pick a destination somewhere in the southeast for a weekend girl's trip. This year we chose to travel to the Charleston area. We needed a place that would sleep 12 of us and would offer us plenty of privacy. We were so fortunate to find this rental. When we arrived we were surprised to see that it was beyond our expectations. The property was so beautiful and so many amenities to boot. We loved hanging out at the dock and the highlight of the trip was Kayaking with the Dolphins. I would definitely recommend this rental.

I got married at Wide Awake park and Toogoodoo Bluff was the perfect place to have family and friends! The property is so beautiful right on the river and the houses are just as beautiful. As soon as I saw the bathroom in the Main House 2nd floor, I could imagine me and all my bridesmaids getting ready together in there with the seating, fireplace, and claw foot bathtub. Every room was soo pretty. my friends and family all enjoyed the dock and it was the perfect place to be to be away from the stress before the wedding! After my wedding, my family all stayed out there and had the greatest time. We can't wait to come back to reminisce and make new memories! Thank you for everything!

My husband and I just spent the most wonderful week here with our three sons. We found the house to be charming, comfortable and very well maintained. We spent most of our time on the dock and in the river using the canoe and kayaks. This was a vacation our family will always remember. Thank you!

My fiancé and I chose Toogoodoo Bluff for the location of our wedding ceremony and reception; we had spent many of weekends falling in love in the Low Country, so it only seemed fit that we would have our wedding here. The first time we visited Toogoodoo we knew it was “the place”. Words cannot express the character and southern charm that beholds Toogoodoo Bluff; everything about this place is amazing inside and out. I was in love with the décor of this place! This property reminded me of something out of a romance novel. Our wedding was small, approximately 60 guests consisting of close friends and family. We could not have selected a more perfect location. There are three dwellings situated on the property; each lovely in its own way. The front lawn is a large open area on a high bluff that has a panoramic view of the river and marsh area. The upstairs bathing room/sitting area was the perfect place for my bridesmaids and I to have our hair and makeup done for the wedding. The lawn made a perfect location to hold a beautiful wedding ceremony with breathtaking views at every glance; who needs an alter when you have marshland and rivers as far as you can see in the backdrop! I had spent so much time selecting coastal themed wedding décor, however once we began to set up we realized the Toogoodoo was so gorgeous that the most beautiful décor was the picturesque location itself. We held the reception at the same location; the property has a brick patio with grills and picnic tables which was perfect for food setup/serving. This area sits under a huge live oak tree with long branches gracefully reaching out over the river; we chose to set up the wedding cake on a table in front of this tree which made for gorgeous background in our pictures! The children ran free in the large yard areas and playing with the variety of games that the owner has available. We really could not have picked a more perfect, scenic location for the wedding. We arrived a couple days prior to the wedding so that we could have ample time to setup the property. Keith, the property owner, was wonderful about maintaining contact with me throughout the wedding planning process and made sure the grounds of the property were just perfect for our wedding. I cannot wait to return to Toogoodoo with my now husband and enjoying a relaxing weekend and recalling fond memories from our wedding day that took place at this little slice of heaven on earth!!

According to old Gullah Lore, those who linger awhile amongst the moss draped oaks lining the creeks and rivers of the Lowcountry are able to cradle the charms of yesteryear. This is what Toogoodoo Bluff offers those who come to visit. Having spent the last 25 years living in the Lowcountry, I have the privilege of appreciating this feeling of peace and beauty. For 20 years my family has chosen to vacation each spring on the rivers of the ACE basin and our experience at Toogoodoo bluff surpassed all that has come before. The houses are truly magnificent and the grounds perfect for reading and relaxing as well as deep-water navigation for kayaking and fishing. The sunrise and sunsets behold all the remarkable colors of the Lowcountry and will stay with me for a lifetime. To witness the exact moment when the setting sun’s rays fire the marsh grass with its halo of gold and red is truly mystical as is being on the water in a kayak at the precise moment when the tide turns and feel the water under you shift with the power of the ocean’s pull. Both are some of the most amazing things nature can offer. This is what Toogoodoo Bluff offers to those who linger awhile amongst its moss draped oaks. The compounds facilities are exceptional. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is fully stocked to the demands of a true southern cook along with farmhouse harvest tables for the family to share in the bounty of the day. The beds and linens are of the highest quality with no compromise to comfort. All three of the houses are equal in their level of detail to comfort and style. The porches and rockers are perfect for the early riser’s coffee and crosswords and the ideal venue for the late evening crew’s glasses of wine and sharing of tales from the day’s experiences. I have found our place for vacations for years to come. There is no need to look further than Toogoodoo Bluff. It has all to offer anyone looking for a true Lowcounty dream if only to linger awhile, for a moment in time. By experiencing the beauty and comfort of Toogoodoo Bluff, your stay will be remembered and you may better understand the Lowcountry charms of yesteryear. Thank you for opening up your family’s compound to us and giving us this opportunity to share in its beauty.

Our family spent another fantastic week at Toogoodoo Bluff. The amentities made it a perfect fit for our family vacation. The dock, the rec barn, kayaks and canoe allow us to live the "Low Country Lifestyle" of South Carolina. This was our third visit to Toogoodoo Bluff and we are all ready planning our fourth

Owner response: One of the many benefits of sharing our property is that we get to meet and then become friends with so many wonderful people such as the Warfield family. In the past few months, Toogoodoo Bluff was the gathering spot for a family from just up the road and also a family brought together from four continents.

To be able to accurately describe the beauty, personality, and charm of Toogoodoo Bluff is, unfortunately, beyond my ability. The houses, due to detailed decoration and time and thought given, feel as if you have been invited to someone's much loved and celebrated home. The land, trees, flowers, water, yard, and marshlands are such main characters and an overall part of the Toogoodoo Bluff experience. A total escape from everyday life, and perfect opportunity to enjoy the company of loved ones in the ideal environment. My love for Toogoodoo is so grand, I have chosen to be married there. My fiance and I realized we would rather opt to have a rather small wedding, instead of a large celebration, in order we may be married in a place we so closely associate with charm, home, and beauty. It is simply a place which allows you the freedom to read lounging in the sun, sit on the porch in a rocking chair with sweet tea (or beer!) chatting with family, gathering around a campfire with friends, kayaking along tidal creeks, watching dolphins travel to the sea, encounter a beautiful, beautiful sunset, lazily nap on the hammock looking-out over the water, and remind ourselves that life is often rather wonderful if you simply sit for a moment; all the details and complaints will disappear if you let yourself appreciate the beauty Toogoodoo Bluff has to offer. It allows you to let go. A gift, really. Again, I am joyfully awaiting my wedding, as I know all our guests, traveling all the way from England, Spain, and California, will feel all at once at home when celebrating at Toogoodoo. It truly is THAT magical of a place. I miss it already!

I was inspired to write this review after reading the negative feedback recently posted. We spent a week here with another family and had the most enjoyable time ever! Unlike other recent tenants, we found the compound to be absolutely beautiful, the furnishings eclectic and fun and the owner to be VERY hospitable. Although we never had the pleasure of acutally meeting him, we spoke many times and he was very attentive to our needs - even telling me where to find the "secret key" to the closet that held all the extra towels (thanks)! While nothing in life is EVER perfect, we found every inch of Toogoodoo Bluff to be magnificent! Perhaps some are just not accustomed to the tidal lifestyle ;) We felt very welcomed by the owner and so comfortable settling into this gem of a plantation home. THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! By the way, we're looking at maybe visiting Sullivan's next April 7 - 14th! :)

Owner response: It was so wonderful to get this totally unsolicited response from Kathy. While I wasn't able to make her during their visit as I usually try to do (compound is 50 minutes from my home), I really appreciate her support and comments. I also have a great beachfront cottage apartment on Sullivan's Island that she refers to in her comments. It, too, is a haven for people that love history, incredible views and the opposite of cookie-cutter resorts (vrbo 181347, Homeaway 187384).

A little piece of heaven right here on earth! We enjoyed our stay more than you'll ever know. We had family in and out over several days for Frank's 60th birthday. This is truly the place to get away from it all...the sunrises, the sunsets and everything in between was perfect. Thank you for knowing what families need to unwind and reconnect. We loved our stay at Toogoodoo and none of us wanted to leave!

Owner response: Thanks to Frank and Karen for the kind words. They and their family were a really nice group and I'm glad the visit went well. I look forward to seeing them again whether at Toogoodoo Bluff or my beach cottage on Sullivan's Island.

About the owner: I am a lifelong Carolinea boy, having grown up in NC and then living in SC since 1981.

              Why the Owner Chose Charleston:
Toogoodoo Bluff is so unique and special. It offers an authenic Lowcountry experience and not just another beach week. The structures are all very historic and meticuously renovated. The high bluff overlooking the river and marshes are therapeutic. Toogoodoo Bluff is not a place, it is an experience.

The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
As previously stated, Toogoodoo Bluff is not just another week at the beach even though we are only a short drive to Edisto Beach. It allows for groups to be together without having to be together in a single structure.
