This is a beautiful, accessible and well-appointed property in the wonderful town of Carmel-by-the-sea, close to town (8 blocks) beaches (8 short blocks) and the entire Monterey Bay area. The house and recently completed addition were designed by a protege of Frank Lloyd Wright (Mark Mills) who studied with him at Taliesan West(Arizona). The three bedrooms consist of a very large master suite with a king sized bed and a Japanese soaking tub and separate shower; a second bedroom with a king sized bed, and a third bedroom that doubles as a study with a double sofa bed. There is a second full bath with a shower and a third 1/2 bath off of the entry. There is also a queen sofa bed next to the fireplace in the Great room.
It is architecturally stunning and historic with lots of light and high ceilings - all glass, wood and stone, set on a large lot. It is within minutes of Monterey where the Monterey Bay Aquarium as well as many fishing, boating, kayaking opportunities exist. Restaurants are plentiful in the area and many world renown. The Carmel beach allows bonfires South of 10th Street which makes evening and sunset time at the beach wonderful. Dogs are also allowed on the beach off-leash. You will love this vacation spot!!

The kitchen is so well equipped with lots of pots, pans, and serving pieces plus outdoor cooking features of a grill and pizza oven. It is fun and delightful to stay there. Great eating island with lots of light and room for guests to help cook or just to visit with the option to watch TV and get the latest news while doing the chores. Love the many fountains as I like the sound of running water--where it is supposed to be running. The gardens add much enjoyment to the house. It is so quiet and peaceful too. The master room and bath were very large and comfortable. I liked having a computer spot in the bedroom so that I could work when I wanted to without disturbing the guests. My guests raved about the 2nd bathroom with the shower. Of course, I thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese soaking tub in the master. As to the questions---yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. As to the recommendations---the Aquaruim, the beach, the Bach Festival, Cafe Rustica, The Cottage, Basil's, Tommy Wok's, Big River Inn and Big Sur.

My husband and I just spent two heavenly months, September and October, in this wonderful house in Carmel by the Sea! The owners went out of their way to accommodate us, and even meet a few specific needs before, during and after our stay, you couldn't ask for better hosts! The house is a gem in itself and it's perfectly located, close enough to the heart of Carmel by the Sea without beeing in the midst of it all and just a short walk down to the gorgeous beach. Don't hesitate - book and go!!

My husband, son and I had the pleasure of staying at Edgemere this past August for three weeks. This was our first time renting a home as a vacation rental. The owner was very helpful throughout the process; answering any and all questions we had prior to and during our stay. The property is located in a great location - minutes away from the Carmel Mission; Mission Ranch; Carmel dowtown and beach. Very walkable. The home was well appointed with an open, rustic feel to it. Definitely a newer, renovated area to the home, in the master bedroom area and an older feel in the other bedroom and bath area. We felt there was plenty of room to gather together or have space for individual privacy. Loved the 3 fireplaces in the home, most especially in the kitchen area. A wonderful way to wake up and begin your day on a cool morning! The external area of the home allowed for lush privacy with beautiful foliage; spacious eating areas; hot tub (which we did not use); fire pit - which we used frequently. Pizza oven available outside as well. Did not use this feature. Seemed to take a long time to heat up. If you are familiar with using one, I imagine they are a great way to bake a pizza. Please keep in mind, something we had forgotten, that most of California does not have air conditioning. There were a few days that were warmer and only a couple of windows in the home that opened to allow for some breezes throughout the home. Minor consideration because it never was uncomfortable. Opening a few doors, for some cross breezes, solved the issue. Just something to consider when visiting California. Overall, a great experience. A destination to consider for a Carmel retreat and getaway.

We just finished a magical month in Edgemere Wood. What a wonderful home it is. There are spacious, beautifully designed and decorated living areas and bedrooms. The gourmet kitchen is completely equipped with anything and everything that you might need. There's hardly a right angle in sight, reminding you always of its rich architectural history Easy walks to anywhere in Carmel: the beaches; the Mission; the downtown shopping paradise. The outdoor pizza oven, BBQ, decks, patios, spa, and fire pit provide great spots for relaxing, dining and socializing. This was one of the very best homes we have ever had the privilege of visiting for a vacation.

My family and I have just enjoyed an amazing vacation in Carmel and had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful home. We found ourselves absolutely spoiled over the house itself, and its location. The house is a beautiful architectural piece of art with many different levels and angles making up its large rooms and outdoor living areas. The master bedroom is large enough to live in by itself, and you'll never want to leave the patio on a relaxing summer day. If you enjoy cooking for yourself while on vacation, the kitchen is amazing and the outdoor grill is great. If you do find a way to pull yourself away from the house, you are a short and beautiful walk away from a great beach. We went to the beach just about every morning for a nice walk along the sand. If you don't feel like getting a little sandy... you can also walk right down the street to enjoy all the shopping that Carmel has to offer. There are plenty of area specific shops for gifts and mementos, as well as first class california dining experiences and cozy coffee shops. We highly recommend this property and plan to visit it again soon ourselves!
