Paschall House - Beach Front Cottage

Nostalgic, beach front cottage. Well maintained and very clean. This home has passed through several generations with love and is offered at a very reasonable price.
Nature abounds the cottage with porpoise, schools of fish, and a large variety of birds gracing the shore line. The private deck is an ideal spot for having your morning coffee, for sunbathing, bird-watching, or enjoying a beautiful sunset. The private walk leads to a lovely, clean strand of beach -- a hidden treasure along the Coast. Early morning tides leave mounds of shells -- it's almost as though the beach belongs to you and only you! And after your beach excursion, there’s the convenience of an outside shower on the walk adjoining the deck.
The oceanfront porch is enclosed and furnished with multiple, colorful rocking chairs, reminiscent of an earlier, easier going time -- perfect for rainy or chilly days, or relaxing with a good book – guests are welcome to borrow from the owner’s modest collection of books and games.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bath with a shower. Each of the two other bedrooms has two double beds and shares a connecting bath with a tub.
The home is equipped for year round living and has both central heating and air conditioning. In addition, each room has its own heating unit and thermostat. The unvented fireplace in the family room has gas logs and is available for use by special arrangement.
If you enjoy sightseeing, you’ve picked the right place. The area is rich with diverse attractions within a few minutes walk or drive -- the fishing pier and several shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance of the cottage. And several major attractions are within just a ten minute drive south of the cottage -- the North Carolina Aquarium, the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area and Historic Site, and the Fort Fisher Ferry.
The Aquarium is the largest of the state’s three public aquariums. The focus of the 93,000-sq-ft facility is on the animal and plant life native to the Cape Fear River basin, nearby beaches, estuaries, and the open ocean.
Fort Fisher was the largest and most important Civil War earthwork fortification in the South. Its defeat after the amphibious attack of January 15, 1865, sealed the defeat of the Confederacy three months later. Site attractions include the museum and its artifacts, tours, picnic sites, and walking trails around the mounds where lovely, gnarled live oaks provide shade along the twisting trails.
You can take a thirty-five minute scenic ferry ride to historic Southport and enjoy its small quaint shops, antique boutiques, restaurants, majestic homes and a beautiful old cemetery.
A ten minute drive north of Kure Beach takes you to Carolina Beach which has a variety of small businesses, restaurants, and recreational opportunities, including a skate board facility and movie theaters. Carolina Beach State Park offers facilities for boating, camping, fishing, hiking, and picnicking.
Fifteen miles further north is historic Wilmington with its grand old homes, first-class shopping, museums, art galleries, water gardens, restaurants, beautiful parks, and fine golf courses. The charming shops and restaurants in the riverfront district make it a favorite tourist destination. Wilmington is considered to be one of the most beautiful small cities in the South.
If you desire the tranquility and beauty of a small, uncrowded beach – but one that’s close to fine shopping and cultural opportunities -- then Kure Beach and the Paschall cottage should be your next vacation destination!

Exactly what we were looking for. An older beach cottage with a simple charm, an unbeatable view of the ocean, and quick, easy access to the sand. Comfortable beds. Absolutely wonderful and we will return year after year, if allowed. Everything exactly as described in listing.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.
