Located just 90 minutes from Ottawa and three and a half hours from Toronto, Sharbot Lake sits in the middle of the Land O'Lakes region, 45 minutes north of Kingston. Enjoy the peaceful beauty of this magnificent lake with it's thriving loon population and incredible fishing. The cottage faces east allowing us to witness breathtaking sunrises and beautiful moon rises. The shoreline across the lake is uninhabited Crown Land covered in native forest which adds to the beauty of the view.
The cottage is just seven minutes from the town of Sharbot Lake where you will find a full-size grocery store, hardware, post office, bank, drug store etc. Beer, liquor, gas, fresh corn, blueberries and home-made pies (in season) are also just another five minutes from town.
The four bedroom main cottage is beautifully appointed, having been completely remodeled in 2004. The large, fully equipped kitchen includes a stainless steel side by side refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, plenty of cupboard and counter space and a pantry. There is a second refrigerator just steps away in the fully equipped laundry room. The beautifully furnished living/dining room, which overlooks the lake, has a stone, wood-burning fireplace. The dining table seats eight and there is a second dining area off the kitchen, also with lake views, that seats six comfortably. A screened-in porch across the front of the cottage overlooks the lake.
The large lawn area provides plenty of space to run and play and easily accommodates badminton, bocce, volleyball etc. The magnificent trees provide plenty of shaded areas, while the oversized dock and swim raft enjoy sunshine all day.
The sand beach is well-suited for small children, and the shallow entry makes it a great place to launch the 2 canoes and 3 kayaks provided.
The swimming off the dock is excellent and there is a swim raft for lots of play in the deeper water.
A fire pit by waters edge provides the perfect spot for evening bon fires under the stars.
The 400 feet of private shoreline includes a secluded bay that is home to a wide variety of wildlife including: turtles, frogs, ducks, muskrats, herons etc. Loons and families of ducks frequently swim by the property. The fishing in Sharbot Lake is excellent with bass being the primary catch. There are plenty of small fish to be had right off the dock, which makes for lots of fun for children.
