Our stay at the resort was very enjoyable. The cottage is very nice with everything needed for a relaxing vacation. The lake is beautiful and the views spectacular. Blake and Jim are very friendly and extremely accomodating and work very hard to insure the comfort of the guests. I would recommend this property to family and friends.

Great family vacation
Great family vacation
Our family vacation was among the best vacations ever. Our entire family stayed for 3 weeks this summer, and we certainly shall be back!! Everyone had lots of fun here. The activities range from swimming to fishing (including bow fishing), boating, jet skiing, shopping, museum visits, eating out at lots of different restaurants and visiting plantations. Every age group has something to do. This is such a fantastic place for families, including your dogs! And the package comes complete with ducks and ducklings that you could feed and the dogs that family who run this place. If you chose the company of the family's dogs they can provide that too for you, they have three lovely, sweet dogs that will come around only if you invite them. So, if you chose not to have their company they understand, but they are very willing to provide you their company if you so chose. We loved having their company every day. They were funny and it completed the whole package and made it perfect. Oh yeah, and there is a playground and sand to play with right there by the beach in front of the cottage, so even the really little ones will have loads of fun. And let us not forget the goats on the island across from the cottage, you can swim across and take a canoe or kayak across to the island and visit these goats. There are loads of kayaks and canoes that you can use at your leisure, so for the adventurous ones out there - go have a blast. Our daughter made lots of friends there, and the kids would go out on the canoes or kayaks and have fun all by themselves. We would just sit back on the front porch and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the kids have a great time. The family who run the place is awesome, they are family orientated, knowledgeable and they will provide any and all information that will make your stay memorable and unforgettable. The family will also put you in touch with the right people to make your stay perfect. Yes, we would certainly advise every family to go and stay , no doubt.

I will start by saying the cottage photo is a little (very) deceiving. It fails to mention that the cottage is connected to numerous other units all sharing a common porch. Don't expect to have coffee or drinks on the porch with any privacy. The unit was as described but needed addtional cleaning and it had an odor of sewerage. We went out and purchased bleach for the drains along with disinfectant spray and wipes. On the third day they admitted to a ventilation issue in our unit and moved us to an adjoining unit, which was very nice. We again had to re-clean it. They then rented our first unit out to a couple, unknown repairs, unsure how they dealt with it. The boat photos presented in their advertisement are also very deceiving and are not indicative of the boat you will get. Prior to booking our reservation I spoke with Blake and confirmed, reconfirmed, and reconfirmed again the boat reservation. I was told the boat in the picture was the boat I was getting and at the set price agreed upon. I even had it in writting, too bad. They showed us a boat that was repulsive, and the sparing began. I was then advised the boat in the picture was an additional amount of money. When I agreed, the story changed to "Its not our boat, I will see if the owner would be willing to rent it out." After an eternity of bs and my wife being brought to tears we had no choice but to take the deplorable boat. Once out on the lake in the boat we discovered our rental boat motor leaked oil and gas extensively and it did not have a gas cap. While beached at the sandbar we were asked to leave because of the oil slick the boat was causing. We were unable to swim anywhere in the vicinity of the boat. When brought to the management's attention they stated the motor housing was saturated with oil from repair work and that it would eventually stop. It never did. On our last day they did supply a gas cap. We witnessed no less than five of their other rental boats come in or be towed in for repair. Another renter advised us they pulled the same deal on their boat rental, and we witnessed a family arguing over their boat rental. They eventually left, no boat. Management's demeanor was friendly especially when collecting monies, but wenned once we had complaints. Over all I would rate it as a bad experience, and a ruined vacation. I would not recommend it to others. I am sure they will have their own spin, just be warned. P.S. The yellow lab needs his nails trimmed so he can walk.

Owner response: I will start by saying we cater to hundreds of happy guests that stay at our properties and rent boats from us every year. Tom was the most difficult to please so far. He has a sense of entitlement unmatched by anyone I've ever met. He made numerous lies and exaggerations in this review. The unit was clean except for ceiling fans which we addressed when brought to our attention. The ventilation issue was addressed after calling a plumber. We moved Tom to the adjacent unit to (try) to make him happy. The unit he moved into was also clean (although he stated differently). The basis for his inaccurate and misleading review stems from his frustration about the boat. When I asked Tom which picture he was referring to regarding a "specific boat" he couldn't say where he saw the supposed picture or supposed boat. That’s funny because we don't have any specific boats advertised since we are constantly changing/upgrading our fleet of 20+ boats. The boat he claims to be "repulsive" was a standard 24' pontoon boat. The boat did need a touch-up on cleaning. However, it has brand new seats, two year old floor, and a great running 1998 90hp motor. He just wanted a free upgrade. The gas cap was missing, and I replaced it the same day. Anyone who has operated a 1990's or older two-stroke outboard motor knows there is a small amount of exhaust residue lingering which can cause some "rainbows" in the water (re: Tom's supposed claim of "leaking oil and gas extensively"). There is no "boat in the picture" that he describes as there was no boat or any picture that he could produce. The new boat Tom requested to use was in fact our boat (another lie since he claimed we said it was a customers). Newer boats rent from $250-$350/day which he decided not to afford. Another lie from Tom is his claiming "no less than five other boats towed in" etc. This flat out didn't happen. Tom put a great "spin" on this review. I'm really disappointed that he could write such a dishonest and misleading review. We made sure to address the concerns or issues he had. He chose not to upgrade to the newer boats The last vindictive and inconsiderate "dig" that Tom had to throw in at the end claims "The lab needs his nails trimmed so he can walk" is actually our old lab that has hip problems which is why he has problems getting around. He left our property telling us that he had a great time, and then went home and wrote this review. I wish he would have been more honest.

We have stayed with Lakeside Marina several times over the last year or so and every time weve been there the only bad thing is that we cant seem to make it last. Both Jim and Blake are always a pleasure to be around. They go out of their way to make sure that we have every thing that we need. Thank you for everything.

RELAXING, PEACEFUL, 25TH ANNIVERSARY @ LAKE MARION MARINA & RESORT
RELAXING, PEACEFUL, 25TH ANNIVERSARY @ LAKE MARION MARINA & RESORT
WE LOVED OUR COTTAGE. THE VIEW AND THE GREAT INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK SO HARD TO TO MAINTAIN THIS GREAT LOCATION! Our cottage was very clean, everything brand new, the beds were very clean, firm and high quality. The kitchen and appliances are top of the line, the living room furniture and dining room were confortable, sturdy, excellent style and comfort. Hardwood floors and a large plasma tv with sattlelite. The front porch is marvelous with plenty of white chairs to sit and enjoy the great view while having a cup of coffee. The gas stainless steel grills were great to cook our lunch and dinner. We loved getting on an electric boat that we always used and named (LOLA) and from there we began our day fishing all around this beautiful lake, catching Bream and Catfish. They have an island right across from the cottage and we traveled by boat to it and found many clean sandy beaches with clear water. We were able to rest in the shaded trees by the sand and get back on the boat and fish some more. On the other side of the island lives a family of GOATS, a mama, papa and baby. Mr. Jim always leaves a bucket of food for them and if someone goes to the island, they can feed them. So, we feed the goats! The place is great for kids too. They have tunka trucks, bikes, canoes, kayaks and plenty of places to run around or enjoy the beach area and swim in the lake. We saw many different birds. We took a boat ride as the sun was going down and the breeze and nature all around is spectacular. The air is so clean! Then there is Yeller, he is a gentle giant Lab that became our friend. He is part of the great Dunn family. Blake and Mr. Jim Dunn work from sunrise to late evening hours to make sure that everyone staying in their place is completly satisfied. When we left, we felt we were leaving family behind. Thank you both for allowing us to have such a great 25th anniversary in your beautiful part of Lake Marion.
