Simply paradise

Guest: JLMC (Tampa, FL)
Date of Stay: 06/22/08 Review Submitted: 07/09/08

Our family of four loved our stay at Puu Poa. The view from the patio is breathtaking, the condo was clean, comfortable and well stocked with beach gear. The beds are VERY comfortable and the master bath is really nice with a deep tub and double shower. Hideaways Beach below was our favorite in Kauai ...with excellent snorkeling and calm waters for the kids. Thank you John and Kevin for sharing your place....it was a wonderful experience. We hope to come back soon!

Owner response:Mahalo Lauren and family, We are so glad that you enjpyed your vacation in paradise as much as we do. Maybe next time you can come back in the winter or spring. It is a thrill to watch the whales jumping in the ocean right in front of our lanai. Aloha, Kauai Kevin Puu Poa 204

If 204 was 40 yards north it'd be a ship! We enjoyed the water, turtles, boats, swimmers and surfers immensely from both the lanai and from views from inside. Furnishings, the kitchen, artwork, furniture and equipment everything was far better than one could hope for. In our two week stay Kevin's place easily and promptly became home. Sunsets viewing, walks, swims and explores all were easy from Puu Poa. The carvings and art work really made us feel like we were some place special. Love the shower! We cooked at least one meal a day and some were pretty elaborate yet easily prepared in the fully furnished kitchen. Bbq/eating on the lanai was delightful. Walking to the St. Regis, their beach, Hideaways, and the Pale Ke Kola beaches was easy (well, steep, of course). Joe, the Maintenence/resident Manager couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We look forward to returning repeatedly to #204. Having been to the Princeville area repeatedly we were rather annoyed with ourselves for having stayed other places in the past that were neither as luxurious nor had the view/location/comfort/ambiance of #204 but cost more. Kevin has really made a delightful retreat in paradise! It did often feel like being on a boat... We miss it.

A fantastic family retreat

Guest: Jane from Los Altos Hills, CA (-)
Date of Stay: 08/10/11 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

We stayed at Kevin's condo for a week, right above Hideaways Beach where the snorkeling has got to be the best on the island. The location has superb views, and the condo was equipped with everything you would need for a beach vacation. The kitchen is well stocked for those who like to cook and there are lots of good resturants nearby for those who don't.

Ultra convenient and beautiful location. This was our first trip to Hawaii so we have nothing to compare it to. Kevin is great to work with, great communication, flexible, and his place felt like home. We would most likely stay again when we return to Kauai.

Great 30th Anniversary Vacation

Guest: Brain Chochrane from Alberta, Canada (-)
Date of Stay: 08/07/11 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

Pu'u Po'a is very well situated within a short descent to Hideaways beach, the St Regis Hotel and, for the more daring, a short swim to Hanalei Bay beach. Kevin's condo is well stocked with everything that you'll need for a pleasant day at the beach or a candlelit dinner on the patio viewing either a spectacular sunset or endless stars. Kevin, Mahalo nui loa for a great vacation. ·

Kevin's place was spacious and well stocked with everything from swim fins to tools to spices. Great view, nicely located on the island and literally steps from the best snorkeling we had on our trip.

Everything we imagined

Guest: D. Parry&J. Harker from Mt. Vernon Maine (-)
Date of Stay: 04/01/11 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

Princeville's Puu Poa 204 was indeed everything we imagined. The location is so scenic, pleasant walking environment and essential services within 2 mi. (post office, bank, grocery/sundry store, gift shops, hardware, wine store, several restaurants) Oh, not to mention the spectacular beaches and views within walking distance! The condo was well-appointed and had all essential amenities in the unit down to an iron and ironing board (not that you need one in Kauai!) TV/Cable/Sound system set up covered all the bases. The master bedroom and bath very spacious; kitchen has all the essentials for eating in; Lanai with great, clean furniture to enjoy ocean, whale and surfer views and gas BBQ. Front of unit is all glass with screens/bamboo shades so lots of ability to get 24/7 ocean breeze and sounds. Beach towels, totes, binoculars available; guide books handy. If you do a lot of beach hopping - may want to rent a chair or two if you have a group. (We rented snorkel gear.) Swimming pool at the units is clean and easy access. Units were very quiet and lanais are fairly private so it feels like your own special "pod" on the ocean. (Our rating for service just means - the unit has what it needs so not much servicing is required! Any you can be left alone if you want peace and quiet.) With a rental car, it was such a convenient spot on the North coast to go either west as far out to Ke'e Beach or to go east and hit many other beaches besides those right in Princeville. And at the end of the day, parking for the units is only steps away from the front door, so it is not hard to load/unload your car after a day of sight-seeing. If you want to "glam-it-up" you can literally walk to the spectacular St. Regis hotel for dining/entertainment. The entire property was extremely well-maintained, felt private and comfortably-luxurious without any pretentiousness. Mentally, we're still there - it will capture your imagination!

A Powerfully Peacefull Refuge

Guest: Joe from Fort Collins, Colorado (-)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

If you are at all interested in reconnecting with your sanity, your grounded self, this place will get you there. After a few days the environment surrounding this comfortable large apartment will impose a quite peacefulness to your day. It doesn't seem to matter what you do or where you go,the whole area is stunning to your senses and the location is ideal for exploring the North Shore or anywhere else on the Island. I was able to write music for the first time in years. That was enough for me, I'll be back to Puu Poa 204 as soon as I can. Aloha, Joe

25th Anniversary

Guest: The Murphys from Michigan (-)
Date of Stay: 06/09/10 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

We found Kevin"s piece of paradise quite by accident and boy are we glad we did! The view was spectacular, sunsets breath taking, and he had everything anyone could want right in the condo. We often ate dinner in...grilling, cooking in the well stocked kitchen just to enjoy that sunset. The condo's location is quiet, spacious, so comfortable, and a great starting point for morning walks. We could easily get anywhere on the island, but enjoyed staying in also. We enjoyed our vacation and can't wait to return. Kevin is friendly and keeps you well informed. We had a terrific 25th anniversary and just can't wait to return! Thank you for opening your home to us we can't thank you enough!

Really enjoyed my vacation stay ... the condo was very nice and clean and the rental transaction was very smooth. The availability of a computer in the condo was also a plus to surf the internet in addition to watching the beautiful ocean surf. My thanks to the owner for accommodating our stay.
