Me and 2 co-workers rented the condo while we were there for work. Our group was staying at the St Regis, so the location was perfect. Easy access to Hanalei, shopping and the hotel. We also enjoyed the early morning runs on the nice path there in the resort area.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

First off let me say that Steve and Denese were absolutely great. Their condo is beautiful and reasonably priced. All-in-all we had a good stay but there were some things that I didn't care for.. The Good - good location, close to Hanalei Bay - beautiful condo - has everything you need (spices, cooking stuff, beach toys, etc.) The Bad - in a gated community so there are rules - main gate closes at 9pm forcing you to take the long road around - can't park your car in the driveway for more than 2.5hrs and even then you may have a knock at your door (we did after our car was parked for 1.5hrs; I had washed it which is why it was out) - located on a busy road that's loud and has traffic that starts at sunrise - everyday is gardening day and it's loud If you're looking for peace and quiet this may not be your spot. If you can tolerate some noise and you're okay with rules, it's a great place to stay. Not sure if I'll stay here again but I do appreciate Steve and Denese and their beautiful 2nd home in Kauai. Mahalo!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: While we understand that sometimes rules can be a bit of an issue, rules also serve to bring order and raise the bar to a higher standard that actually makes a property more attractive. A gated community gives privacy and security that other properties do not afford. The main gate in to the Villas is accessible by key code 24/7. The gate the guest refers to is for a short cut access road that runs by the Villas that many locals use as a shortcut to the main Princeville road. It does close at 9 until early morning, which assures that there is no traffic noise during sleeping hours. There are two parking spaces for the condo...the garage and an outside parking spot. There are also additional guest outdoor parking spaces that are available as needed, which is why the rules are not to leave a car parked in the driveway for long periods of time. I believe that the guest heard gardening from many different sources, including properties adjacent to the Villas. They all have their own schedules, and being a tropical island with everything growing prolifically, one doesn't have far to look to find some gardening being done somewhere, even along the highways, knocking back vines, trees, etc. Our gardeners are around once or twice a week, which has made everything look beautiful and well kept. For everything we want, there are always a few concessions that must be made to get us there. In this case, we believe it is well worth it! denese & steve

The hardwood floors were impressive, the furniture and beds were comfortable, the showers were AWESOME, the garage was very convenient, the washer/dryer came in handy, the location was perfect, the condo truly was a home away from home. We spent half our time in or around the kitchen, which was nicely outfitted to accommodate every need that arose. If we had any suggestions for improvement we would give them, however we really felt at home and well taken care of. The detailed thought that went into creating this condo was very evident. We appreciate your efforts in making us feel at home. Thank you for the wonderful stay!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

In seven years of coming to Kauai, we've never stayed in a place with nicer beach chairs, boogie boards and a great beach umbrella. That may seem trivial to others, but we do enjoy the beach and so we've loved those chairs! And of course, the condo is great too :-) Comfortable beds (seriously), cool evening breezes and a quiet complex with a nice mix of full-time residents and vacation renters. It's so nice we never even bothered watching TV, which is a good thing because controlling that entertainment center must take a PhD in electrical engineering.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children.

This property was wonderful. We travel from Maui (we live in Haiku) to Kauai frequently and this property was a real find! What a way to spend my birthday. The condo is beautiful and there was plenty of room for our friends. The owner, Denise, was such a pleasure to interact with and was so helpful. I highly recommend staying at this home away from home!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

As per the other reviews of this rental condo, our family of four loved it and could not have been more satisfied with our stay. Very well set up and everything we needed was already there. The unit is larger than the pictures elude to and the has all the comforts that are advertised and we had expected. Denese was very pleasant to deal with and answered questions/concerns and had local info readily. The location is perfect, a short drive or walk leads to many breath taking sights and adventures as well as shopping and restaurants. I did drive to another complex nearby I had looked at renting and found that it looked more congested and had other complexes within closer proximity. The Villas of Kamalii was recommended to me by friends who had previously stayed there and I couldn't agree more that this was easily the best value. Pool and hot tub right across from the condo and many other Canadian snowbird families and owners we met made the place a very friendly stay. Can't wait to come back and continue the never ending list of sights and adventures. We found the owners well prepared info/guide binder to be very useful reference material. AAA+++ Mahalo Denese!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Anyone step up to the hi-cealing grate room, will be so impressed with grand scale of beautiful mountain ridge. It was the rainy season, but that did not discourage us at all, since everyday we could enjoy the actual birth of many strings of white waterfalls. We loved to watch the many layered of fogs covers them and disappeared. We assume this unit may have the best view of all in Villas of Kamalii. The owner Denese is so kind to welcome us with island flowers and a bottle of wine. Also I never seen this much well staffed spices and other necessary goods in the kichen. Also, the quality hardwood floor was so comfortable to the bare foot. Thank you Denese, we love your condo. Everything about this condo exceeded all my expectations. It was beautiful, spacious, quiet, close to everything and super comfortable.. it really made vacation feel like vacation. It was well stocked from the pantry items to the garage filled with beach toys, chairs, towels, coolers, etc. The bedrooms were large and extremely comfortable... more than enough space. The open floor-plan, high ceilings and views from the upstairs great-room/kitchen were unbelievable.. The layout of the condo was perfect and situated great on the property, up -hill to enjoy spectacular mountain views with waterfalls when it rained, and right across from the property pool/hot tub. Short drive/walk to beaches, shops and Hanalei. Only had neighbors on one-side, not above or below.. The complex was quiet and people were very friendly. Can't even think of anything to add to make it more perfect. I will only stay here in the future... LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT. I have probably stayed in at least 10 other VRBO's in Tahoe, Hawaii, and other places and this was by far the best of ALL.. So happy to have found it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

We loved our time here. The location is breath taking, and the views from the condo itself are incredible! We loved walking every morning the 1/2 hour walk to Princeville shopping center for coffee from the Lei Petite bakery. And the short drive to Hanalei is perfect - you're close to everything without being in the middle of it. The condo is beautiful inside! The decor is beautiful, and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. Steve and Denese the owners were so helpful!! Their attention to detail, and the way they helped us out with questions via email was wonderful. We felt so looked after by them. If you book a vacation here, you will be so very glad you did!!! We will back if we ever the chance to come back to Hawaii!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

About: My husband and I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. We both got sick of the traffic and crowds and decided to move to the mountains of Northern California to the alpine community of Mt. Shasta. Steve moved here in 1971 and I moved in 1980. We both love the mountains, four seasons and having snow in the winter, but we missed the closeness of the ocean that we had in the Bay Area. As my brother and his wife bought their retirement home in Princeville, we began dreaming about having a place by the ocean and began making trips to Kauai to see why they wanted to move there so much. It didn't take us long to find out what the attraction was and we decided it would be nice to be close to family the part of the year that we want to be over here. For us, Princeville and Mt. Shasta offer the perfect balance of weather, seasons, and all the beauty you could ever ask for. We feel we are extremely lucky to be able to experience this full spectrum and want to share our Kauai home with you so you can see how special a place Kauai really is!
Why Villas Of Kamalii:
The main reason we wanted this particular condo was its' incredible mountain view that commands the whole southern wall of windows upstairs in the great room. We also loved all the architectural angles and high ceilings. The great room has a very expansive feel to it. This condo development is very centrally located to many things, such as the shopping center, beaches,Queen's Bath, St. Regis Hotel(formerly the Princeville Hotel), golf courses, jogging and hiking trails and tennis courts. The pool and hot tub is also located right across from our condo.
