A few of our guest book excerpts:
“Thank you for allowing us to use your home for our stay. We really had a great time! Your home is beautiful & it was very peaceful. I've never heard so many bugs at night! The cabin was far enough away to enjoy time with the family but not too far away from the attractions.
Thank you~ DJ, Missy, Dana, Amanda, Autumn, & Madison

“My husband, two sons (ages 3 and 7), and I just returned from Amazing Grace and had a wonderful time. The boys loved playing in the hot tub every night while my husband and I loved soaking our worn out bodies. The cabin is decorated in a lovely way and is so cozy. It is close enough to town but I still felt as if we were 100 miles away from everything. We will definitely be back to Amazing Grace!

“The Amazing Grace cabin was such a welcome site on the first night of move out to Denver, CO from Charlotte, NC. So pleasant to coordinate-even did a last minute date change! The cabin is wonderfully decorated and comfortable and relaxing! Super comfy Master bed. Wish we could have stayed longer and will return on our adventures back East!
Kathleen, Denver, CO”
“We got back around 4 Monday. The cabin was great!! We had good weather & had a lot of fun. We left everything pretty clean. Do not like to leave a place dirty. Hope to go back sometime.
Thanks, Larry Clayton NC”
“Our stay at your wonderful cabin from 6/15/2008 until 6/19/2008 was just great. I have to say how peaceful and relaxing it was here. Everyone had a really great time and everything was so nice. The hot tub was enjoyed by all and we loved sitting on the porch. I know we will be back here on our next trip to the Smokies. Once again, thanks for such a good time.

Need to slow down? You're at the right place, Shagbark itself has miles of scenic walking areas, babbling mountain streams and fantastic mountain views in all directions.
Some of our favorite pastimes include: rocking on the front porch while listening to each different bird sing their own song. Relaxing with a good book, out on the swinging sofa located on the front porch. Enjoying a home cooked meal together. Soaking in the hot tub with our morning coffee, watching the sun come up over the mountain. Ahhhh...

Amazing Grace is a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was clean and inviting. It is just far enough away from the city so you can relax and get away from it all. Even though the park was closed while we were there we did enjoy the ride though the highway to Cherokee. We even saw some beautiful Elk on our way back. Cathy was a joy. She always responded quickly to my e-mails and phone calls. We will be coming back again. Thanks Again Cathy

Loving Amazing Grace!
Loving Amazing Grace!
The property met all of our needs. It was spacious, comfortable and had everything necessary in terms of cookware, dishes, utensils, cleaning needs, towels and linens. It could have been a bit cleaner. The ceiling fans, some furniture and blinds were in need of a good dusting. Floors in open spaces were fine but along baseboards it was in need of a more thorough cleaning. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely stay there again. In addition, it was one of a very few properties we had researched that was truly pet friendly. It was totally non-restrictive of pets. My grandpup loved it.

We had a fun family weekend at Amazing Grace. The cabin was spacious enough for my three teenage boys, my husband, and myself. The boys loved the pool table, hot tub, and basketball goal at the tennis courts. We would love to come back when we have more time to stay and enjoy all the ammenities.

A real vacation
A real vacation
Cathy, we just want to say that from the moment we drove up to 'Amazing Grace' til we left, we felt like we were living in one of the most posh, coziest and beautiful places that we have ever been in. It was a nice bit of paradise in the Smoky Mountains. The views were also spectacular. I have not had such a sound sleep for some time but once I got into that lovely king size bed, it was lights out until morning. My wife and kids loved the hot tub. The livingroom was very comfortable and at times when it got cool I put the fire on for a few minutes. I can never thank you enough for allowing us to stay there. We needed a lot of rest and relaxation after a very challenging year and we got that and more. Anyone thinking of a wonderful, time away to recharge their batteries need not look any further. They will definitely be blessed indeed by staying in 'Amazing Grace'.

Ok so the drive up to Amazing Grace was a bit scarry but only for our group that is used to the flat, sandy, lands of Florida....lol. We arrived safely and after a few trips up and down the mountain was a piece of cake. The cabin was very warm, the decor very cozy, the kitchen "Amazing ", loved it !!! The beds were comfortable, the pool table room a bonus ,the hottub felt great in the evenings. The views from the deck "Wow".A friend even visited the second nite but we never seen it only heard it rattle the big can out back. We tried to catch a glimpse nite after nite looking out the kitchen window but nothing. A couple issues were found the first day and they were quickly addressed the next day by Cathy and her husband the duo who manage the property. They were great!! There were a few other issues that I feel compelled to write about and maybe they will be addressed for future renters. The cabin is very cute but some upkeep would make it even nicer (visible signs of boring bees into the wood of the deck making piles of sawdust, whatever can be done for that? some fixtures in the bathrooms rather outdated, the wood floors need a stripping and new varnishing, very dull) Some things I know can't be helped but some things just need some TLC. I did say the kitchen was "Amazing" right? Our group (2 couples & 11yr old) cooked everynight of our trip. We did run into some cleaning issues within the kitchen area that consisted of food residue left on some of the pots, pans, utencils, even cabinets but we fixed that issue ourselves by cleaning them, dusting ,and even bought a cheap set of pots and pans and left them in the cabin when we departed. A good overall cleaning of the cabin would only benifit all. This little cabin really is a gem just looking for its shine. Please don't take this as a negative review because its not. I do hope that the owner takes a note so that" Amazing Grace" can sore even higher. Still enjoyed our time there and would still recommend the cabin to others. Thank you!

Manager response: So sorry about the kitchen. With the cabin turning back-to-back it is difficult to go through all the cupboards after each stay. We would have brought new pots and pans if notified of the problem. Boring bees can be a real problem in the early summer as they come out of the forest and love log cabins. Their work appears overnight. The floors are locally milled oak and do not have a modern commercial finish. They are rustic and why pets are allowed. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay!
We were very impressed when we entered the cabin. Large enough for 3 people, and comfortable beds. We loved the front porch, but it needs screens in the evening, as we had some insect bites. All in all, and nice getaway. Must see; Arts and Crafts Community in Gatlinburg, Cades Cove and the Roaring Fork Motortrail. Great restaurants In Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
