The most relaxing and amazing location to stay during your next trip to Yosemite is The Secret Meadows Retreat.
This A frame home is situated on it’s own fourteen acres of meadows and forest. It features one bedroom plus a loft bedroom, large living room with sofas and wood burning fireplace.
Frequented by deer and other wildlife this is an exclusive experience being offered as a rental for the first time, on a trial basis.
Driving through three gates and 300 yards down it’s private driveway will bring you to the home and the first meadow.
This is an old homestead site with just a handful of nearby cabins, all of which are far enough away to provide you with complete privacy (except for the deer, birds, and other wildlife). Adjacent to and surrounded by thousands of aces of Stanislaus National Forest which can accessed by trails and old logging roads from the Retreat.
Located just 400 yards from Hwy 120, approximate five miles west of the Big Oak Flat entrance to Yosemite National Park, in the Hardin Flat area.
This is an incredible destination that may leave you content without even venturing into Yosemite Valley, even though the Big Oak Flat entrance to Yosemite is just another ten minutes down the 120.
Nearby horseback riding, river rafting and guided tours can be arranged.
The home is cozy, with one private bedroom with queen bed and TV, a loft with one double pillow-top queen and one full (plus an amazing view over the meadow), a dining room, fully stocked kitchen and a large, fourteen x twenty four foot, family room with a big wood burning fireplace, 42” flat screen TV on Dish Network, a desk with computer, and couches which can easily sleep two more.
Includes all appliances, a washer-dryer, hot water (strong pressure), central heating (plus a pellet stove in the dining room and the wood burning fireplace in the living room).

Just returned from 3 nights at this amazing little gem of a property. At first I was concerned because coming from Southern California, I had booked a cabin north of Yosemite....but I am so glad I did. The drive each day into the valley (only about 40 minutes) was calming and beautiful. The cabin is literally 10 minutes from the Big Flat Yosemite gate. We stayed there with another family and there was plenty of room for everyone. Each night after exploring Yosemite, we would return to the cabin and drink hot chocolate by the fire and watch the 20 to 40 deer grazing right outside the huge windows. The beds were very comfortable and there was enough hot water in the morning for 4 adults and 2 teens to shower (and all still be toasty warm). There was plenty of room to sprawl out and find private places if you needed alone time to read or write. We did not get cell phone service, so no calls, no texts and no emails (this was great for us...gave us a mandatory four days off of work)...but you should be prepared for it. I believe Dan said there was computer hook up...but we didn't bring our laptops. He also has a landline phone and long distance calls are covered. We just gave that number out for emergencies. We can't wait to visit again. After staying here, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Yosemite.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Verizon and Sprint cell and data signals come in strong. I hope you can return soon, Maryellen - Dan

This cabin was among the closest locations to Yosemite. A pleasant surprise. The property is private and beautiful. Kids loved running around in the meadow and watching the deer. We had a great time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! After spending the day in Yosemite National Park (which is only a few miles away), it was nice to come "home" to a nice, warm, comfortable cabin. The kids enjoyed roaming around the property, exploring the area. The adults loved sitting on the porch or by the fireplace. It is located in such a beautiful and quiet area, making you forget the rest of the world exists (yet has all of the modern conveniences to keep you connected to the world if that is what you choose!). The cabin was well maintained and very clean. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay. We are looking forward to visiting again soon!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you for sharing your lovely little cabin with us. My husband and twin babies had a lovely time at the cabin. The location was just perfect, 2.5 hrs from our home and about 5 minutes from the entrance of Yosemite. The four of us used the upstairs loft for sleeping and woke up to the gorgeous view every morning. It was absolutely beautiful. The cabin had all the necessities of a home. We used the propane grill for dinner one night. The cabin was exactly as pictured and described. It was very clean and well maintained. I was a little hesitant about the cabin at first because my babies were so young. When we arrived, I was relieved because it was very clean. There wasn't even a speck of dusk on the windown sill. The owner was very easy to communicate with and answered all my questions and concerns before and after our trip. We hope to be back soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Although the property was absolutely beautiful the cabin was a disappointment. NO Internet what so ever AND no TV for 3 days and after several phone calls/texts to owner, 30+ minutes on phone with cable company and several hours spent trying to figure out how to bypass the lack of a remote did we then have TV. There is a DVD player that did not work. Cable in bedroom was split so even though a tv sits in the room that tv had no chance of working. Cabin was very clean but very dated. If you are looking for a beautiful piece of property to stay at and want a technology free weekend this would be the place for you. Another Note: Vicinity to Yosemite is inaccurate. Gate entrance is at least 20 mins and a good 40 to 45 minutes from gate to the Valley (without traffic). Closest grocery store - 20 minutes. If I had an opportunity to do it all over again I would have stayed in the park!Owner response: We are extremely disappointed to receive this negative review. We've had dozens and dozens of extremely happy guests, and now one unhappy guest. Her main complaint deals with the TV and DVR, which has worked perfectly for everyone else over the past four years, including the guests who stayed the days before this guest. This guest re-wired our entire TV,DISH satellite, DVR and surround sound system. It required two visits from the DISH repairman, plus several hours from my property manager, to figure out how to restore the connections. It turned out the only issue for this guest was the fact they had pushed the wrong button on the DISH remote (dual view). Our location is exactly 6.7 miles from the main entrance into Yosemite (I zeroed out the trip counter and drove the route twice to confirm). There is a food store 3/4 of a mile east. We had dial up internet (too many trees for a clear satelite signal) at the time this guest stayed. Because most major cell carriers have expanded their coverage we've since been able to upgrade to a Verizon "hotspot". It's interesting this guest claims there is no internet, yet was sending me emails from the cabin. Every statement made in this response can be verified upon request, including a copy of the email from the prior guest about the TV working, emails from the DISH repairman (Andy), and the address for a Mapquest seach. We had a great stay in late June. The house is very comfortable and quiet. The setting is lovely. The beds were quite comfortable, and the kitchen was well-supplied with pans/dishes/appliances. It's very convenient to Yosemite--not far from the Big Oak Flat entrance. The owner and caretaker were both kind and easy to work with. We had 4 adults and 3 children under 5, who enjoyed playing indoors and outdoors.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
