Location: New Hope, Bucks County, Philadelphia & Its Countryside, Pennsylvania, USA
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths (Sleeps 5-7)
Stay in a traditional Quaker (circa 1858) home on the Delaware River and Delaware Canal in the unique New Hope area.
The three story home has stunning views of the Delaware River and a beautiful traditional garden and direct access to the Delaware Canal. It has all the charm of a traditional Quaker home with all the amenities needed to enjoy a relaxing time in the country. The floors in the original part of the home are connected by a traditional pie staircase.
The home is located a short 70 mile drive from New York City or a 44 mile hop from Philadelphia.
The master bedroom occupies the entire 3rd floor with an en-suite bathroom. The floor has great views over the garden, the canal, the river and onto the New Jersey side of the river.
The second floor has two bedrooms, one with two single beds (can be combined to make a double bed) and the second with a single bed and a shared bathroom.
The ground floor consists of a lounge and dining room in the lower part of the original the Quaker home with a large stone fireplace with wood mantle; original pumpkin pine wide plank floors and deep window sills.
This is connected to a full sized kitchen with breakfast eating area with all the necessities to entertain and prepare your meals.
The back part of the house includes a TV room off the kitchen and side deck for sitting in the early morning sun sipping your first cup of coffee or OJ or enjoying a leisurely evening cocktail.
The deck leads into the first part of the garden with its central flower bed and small fish pond to keep any age entertained. There is garden furniture and a Weber charcoal grill available for enjoying a BBQ.
The larger part of the back garden is great for having kids stretch their legs or keep themselves entertained in the sand box. The garden is fully enclosed and secured if all the gates are kept closed. On the far end of the garden there is a seating area to watch traffic on the tow path and steps down to the canal for those who may want to bring a kayak to explore down to New Hope. Note - The water level is maintained by the PA Parks department and is generally full in summer and drained in the late fall through early spring.
The home is a short walk to Centerbridge and easy access to the canal tow path for walks and runs. With a further walk over the bridge and you are in the town of Stockton and its quaint restaurants and wonderful Philips wine store A short drive has you in Philips Mill and a few miles further down the road and you are in downtown New Hope and Lambertville with all their stores, restaurants and New Hope Playhouse.
There are numerous outdoor activities available in the area that should satisfy the active types.
