Move over Roswell and Area 51!
Believe it or not....right here in the shadow of the Joshua Tree National Park...there have been numerous reports over the years of Crashed Saucers, Captured Aliens and Secret Military Installations.
There is also a road...Old Amboy Road...that heads east from the historic town of 29 Palms. And because of theses stories and sightings, local folks have often referred to it as the MOJAVE EXTRATERRESTRIAL HIGHWAY...as it cuts through this really interesting and 'out-of-the-ordinary' area of the desert.
Nearly unchanged since the1950's, just crusing along this 2-lane ribbon of black asphalt seems to transport you thru time and space into an area of the Mojave Desert that has more UFO sightings and related phenomena that any where else. Curious forgotten cabins and vintage trailers dot the landscape. This is also the secret back way to Las Vegas...and is traveled at various times by luxury vehicles, cars and slow moving old pickups...and occasional convoys of young military recruits in big transport trucks. (Wonder what's under those green tarps?) On one side of the Highway is the Joshua Tree National Park and on the other is the largest Military Base in the world. Perhaps it's these opposing forces that generate all this unusual activity? Besides the many UFO reports, rumors have circulated for years of underground caverns and interdimensional portals in nearby Dale Dry Lake. And at the end of the road is Roy's Diner and gas station along with the prehistoric Amboy Volcanic Crater. Hike to the top and then down inside...it's like being on another planet!
All this Mystery is a great backdrop for some Fun and Adventure!
So why not come out for a Relaxing Weekend and experience everything this area of the desert has to offer? The weather is really great: Warm during the day and Cool in the evenings. With all the recent rains everything has turned green!
And we just happen to know a great place you can stay......

Jeff the owner was so nice to meet us at Denny's in 29 palms to give us the keys and a really cool map to the Cabin. We had been driving like 8 hours across the desert and were really pooped. the Cabin 51 was just what we needed. Very clean, well appointed and quiet. We had a wonderful time. plan to return real soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The highway leading to the cabin was really interesting...especially a night. We didn't see any aliens but we think we did see the Amboy Ghost near the curve in the road. Better than a TV show!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Jeff suggested we visit the Amboy crater which is just a short drive from the Cabin. And go we did! And it was just about as close as we could probably ever get to visiting another planet. Wow! Loved Cabin-51 too.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Cabin 51 was great. The kids really liked the little detached Bunkhouse unit. The 2 glow in the dark alien masks in the bathroom were a hoot. We spend a lot of time around the outdoor firepit. Totally Fun.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: I originally purchased this cabin as a get away for myself and friends from LA. I've always been a big fan of the high desert and have been coming out here since the 70's. Also been facinated with the extensive UFO lore associated with the area. And when I learned about the 'other' Extraterrestrial Highway...Amboy Road...just outside 29 Palms, well, so much the better! What started as a 'quickie' fixup took nearly 2 years. But the final result is a perfect desert get away...situated in a perfect desert location. Up high with fantastic views of the mountains and the Joshua Tree National Park beyond. Having been in the retro furniture business in Los Angeles for over 20 years...I was able to accumulate alot of really nice furniture and accessories as well as fun collection of UFO artifacts to decorate the cabin with.
Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree:
This part of the desert is so clean and unspoiled. The view is some of the best you can find anywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Peace and Quiet. Clean Air. Clear, Starry Nights. And The UFO Highway passes by right out front!
