Central Avenue Cottage is part of Ashland's Historical District. Its friendly neighbors greated us as we walked to the plaza, Farmers' Market, nearby theatres, eateries and Lithia Park. The grounds provide a beautiful environment enhanced by the view of surrounding trees and mountains. Cleanliness, comfort and courtesy are the earmarks of our too short stay in Ashland. The kids loved the Science Museum, white water rafting, and a tour of Jacksonville. We can't wait till next summer to relax, laugh, smell the cedars and greet our new friends again. Staying at the cottage was a wonderful life changing experience for all of us. Thanks, Lois and Anna!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

The four of us, in Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, enjoyed the cottage as our home base. It is beautifully restored and set in lovely gardens. The cottage offers all one could want: comfortable furniture and beds, a remarkably well equipped kitchen and pantry, space to be together and apart. We were especially appreciative that it felt like a place someone lived rather than a B&B with all the requisite frills. We wanted for nothing. It is conveniently located on a quiet street within walking distance of all points of interest in Ashland. We look forward to another rendezvous at the Central Avenue Cottage next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

After more than 20 years of vacationing in Ashland and staying at a wide variety of places, I can say without hesitation that this Central Avenue cottage is by far my favorite place to stay in Ashland. The cottage is perfectly located, beautifully appointed, comfortable and cozy, and very ingeniously renovated. Lois is a wonderful hostess. We can't wait to go back.Did you find this review helpful? We frequently visit family in Ashland and have tried a number of different B&Bs and hotels. This cottage is by far our favorite. The location is ideal for walking everywhere and the neighborhood is established and quiet. We loved the comfy master suite with adjoining office area and full bath. The efficient 2BR/2BA floor plan offers both space & privacy for two couples (or in our case, one couple and a single). The outdoor areas are charming and inviting - we enjoyed coffee & the paper every morning on the front porch. The amenities and gracious hostess, Lois, make this a wonderful find.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a wonderful way to spend time in Ashland. We stayed for a week, walked to the market (coop and farmers'), the plays, restaurants. Lois is a wonderful person to rent from -- easy to reach and conscientious. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. We especially appreciated the two bathrooms and air conditioning. Lovely front yard for sitting! Planning next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We visit Ashland frequently and have tried several different B&Bs and hotels, but this charming home is our favorite by far. The location is ideal and the accommodations are very tasteful. The king master bedroom with ensuite bath and adjoining office area is so comfortable and private. The welcoming gardens and outdoor seating offer cozy respite. Every morning we enjoyed coffee and the paper on the front porch. It's a quiet, established neighborhood, within easy walking distance to downtown (theaters, restaurants, galleries, shops) as well as a great dog park and the Bear Creek trail. This is our top choice for future visits.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family could not have been more pleased with the beautiful facilities provided at the Central Avenue Cottage. We were able to save money and frustration by not renting a car, because this cottage is located within easy walking distance of everything and we could purchase wonderful food at the nearby co-op for healthy meals/snacks. We were close enough to enjoy the dining, theaters and restaurants, but far enough away to have quiet afternoons surrounded by fragrant flowers on the front porch, reading from the well stock library. In the house the younger folks were thrilled to have wifi connectivity... so everybody wins. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1986
About the owner: I have lived and worked in this wonderful town for 25 years. I bought this home in 1986 with the dream that someday I would turn it into a travelers accommodation. Over the years I have carefully remodeled and restored this 1900 cottage and I welcomed my first visitors in 2008.
Why the Owner Chose Ashland:
What I love about this property is its close proximity to the heart of downtown, the coop, and the park while still maintaining a quiet, natural setting. All are within 3 minutes walking distance so you can leave your car parked in the driveway for days.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
In addition to the pleasing home and proximity to downtown, you can sit outside on the porch or on the patio and enjoy the beautiful gardens surrounding the home with the green mountains in the background.
