Nantucket Style on Mission Beach
Our Home is a brand new quintessential beach house designed and detailed to match its sisters in Siasconsett on the north coast of Nantucket Island. From its elegant copper roof, eastern white cedar shingles, obligatory Dutch door or its warm Douglas fir floors, every room embodies the old style energy of what a beach house is all about.
A beach house is not a beach house without the beach, and this house delivers with 25 short steps to the sand and sit down water views from the first, second and third floors. This home has a strong water presence, improving after sunset as the night lights of Riviera Drive light up the waters of Sail Bay so you can enjoy the warm summer evenings on the third floor deck.
You will be coming in off the beach early to enjoy this classy old style home. The kitchen is one of the most beautiful kitchens we have seen. Yes, we know it’s ours, but just take a look at the pictures. We’re not sure if it’s the open beam ceiling, the warm colors, the lighting or the mix of materials, but it’s got a special energy that will keep you home for dinner instead of going out. It’s just too easy to open a bottle of wine and toss some fish or steaks on that huge Viking grill and relax and maybe pop in a movie on that 50” plasma screen. Don’t worry about leaving to find a movie; there are over 100 DVDs in the case under the home theater system. If some fun family time is desired, we have an outstanding collection of Board Games.
The house has two small cottage style bedrooms on the first floor, a bunk bed in one and a new Queen bed in the other. The bunk bedroom has a double bed in storage which easily fits on the floor of the office and sleeps 2 people, so really 3 bedrooms downstairs. Vintage Nantucket beach houses were well known for there funky little sleeping rooms and more extravagant quarters for the masters of the house. These rooms have an office area with a computer and printer for your use. The computer is hardwired to the internet with wireless broadcasting from the second floor. The first floor bath is beautifully appointed with hot water fed from a tank-less water heater. There is a two car side by side garage with laundry on the first level.
The second floor is home to the living room with fireplace, dining room, family/TV area, adjoining kitchen and a beautiful powder room finished in classic cottage style. The living room has large French doors on the second floor deck that open out, joining the living area to the covered balcony. There is no shortage of space or seating with plenty of room for everyone to find their own personal favorite place to sit and relax. Also included on the second floor is a Queen size air-dream pull out sofa. If you have never slepted on the air-dreams you are in for a treat and you just may be fighting to use the second floor pull out for your sleeping quarters.
The third floor houses the master suite with cathedral ceilings, huge dormer windows, desk area, beautiful window seat (sleeps one person if needed) and a great master bath with huge skylights to let the summer sun inside. A few steps from the master is a powder room that serves the master as well as guests on the large roof deck. The deck has a teak table with leaves to seat 6 for dinner.
This beach house has a fully stocked (less food & drinks) kitchen, library with plenty of books to read, movies to watch, beach bikes, boogey boards, stereos, beach towels and cleaning service on Wednesday which goes along with 1 week stays (FYI, we do not charge extra for cleaning like other places do, we expect you to keep things nice when you leave)
The Mission Restaurant (3 minute walk) is great for breakfast or step up to the Catamaran Resort and Spa (5 minute walk)to spoil yourselves. The Catamaran offers one of the most beautifully appointed spa experiences with exercise equipment, massage and other 5 star pampering for the most demanding vacationers on your list. Brew a cup of coffee in the morning and sip it as you walk along the bay to the Spa. We will even supply the Starbucks coffee beans and a grinder for your coffee. We bet you can’t go just once. It’s that nice, don’t miss it. They serve a nice lunch and dinner as well. Saska’s restaurant (5 minute walk)serves great steaks, fish and has a very popular sushi bar.
The beach on the bay, just a few steps from our front gate is quiet and peaceful, with warm white sand. For a little more action, head across the street to the ocean to enjoy the surf. You can stop for some great Mexican food just across Mission Blvd. on your way.
Remember this is a complete Beach Home and not a condo. You will not be sharing any walls with anyone. Also, you are in North Mission Beach and do not need to worry about the bothersome airplane noise of South Mission Beach. You are also in the heart of Pacific Beach and can walk to all the wonderful shops.
This beach house is our home during the off season and we request that you treat it with care. Your neighbors are close by, so loud or not so loud parties are not welcome. We don’t rent to students on vacation or vacationers who need a keg to have a few friends over. This is an elegant beach house for those who want to relax in style…

June - August....... $3,500/week
May, Sept, Oct .. $2,800/week / 3 night minimum
All other months $2,100/week / 3 night minimum
Holiday weeks at full rate
$500 deposit payable at time of booking. 10.5% Occupancy tax.
50% of rental amount due 60 days prior to arrival date.
Balance is due 14 days prior to arrival.
Deposit returned within 14 days of departure.

After traveling the world I came to understand one thing, San Diego is one of the best places in the world to live and visit. This home is in one of the best locations you will ever find with both the bay and ocean available for your use. It did not seem fair to keep the home for my private use and not share it with others. This is the reason for providing the home as a vacation rental.
