You can shop for Mexican crafts at the artisans market or for famous Mexican silver and tequila in the shops lining the old village streets. For the more adventuresome, experience Barra de Potosi for swimming in the open ocean on one side or kayaking in the lagoon and watching the birdlife on the other. Day trips also take you to colonial Patzcuaro, a shopper's paradise, or surfing in Troncones. A fifteen minute taxi ride will deliver you to upscale and modern Ixtapa for more fun in the sun, shopping, excellent dining, golfing and nightlife.
