My husband and I have stayed at this property (along with our extended family) many times over the past several years, and have always been impressed by the owners' warm welcome and attentiveness to our comfort. They could not have been more helpful and responsive to questions and concerns! This year we were travelling with our baby and the owners made sure that the appropriate safeguards were in place and consulted with us to ensure that we had everything we needed for him. The house is not luxurious but was exactly what we hoped to find in a Maine cottage (it's exactly like the description and the photographs, with the possible exception of some new bedspreads here and there!) It is always clean and comfortable and spacious enough to handle a large crowd quite easily! There is an amazing view from the front screen porch which we enjoyed every night at dinner (the table easily accommodated the 10 of us and could have accommodated even more!). Though we didn't use the dock ourselves this year (because of the baby), other family members did have a great time and noted that the dock looks brand-new. We have also noted upgrades over the years (to the fridge, for example, and new linens and beds have appeared in various rooms) and have always gotten great sleep with wonderful ocean breezes blowing through the windows and comfortable new mattresses. We hope to continue coming back to this lovely property again and again as it has become a great place for yearly family reunions to allow our children to spend time with their cousins.

Owner response: We are delighted to be able to accommodate small children and try to anticipate families' needs. WE have a full size crib plus a pack & play, safety gates, a high chair and booster seats. We even have a toddler sized picnic table and wee beach chairs! And baby sized spoons! Plus there is a cupboard of games and toys and plenty of children's videos.

My extended family spent a week at this home, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is charming, and very comfortable. Our favorite amenities include an eat-in kitchen for rainy days, screened in porch dining on nice days, comfortable beds, large washer and dryer, two full baths, TERRIFIC view, large level and shaded yard for playing wiffleball with the grandchildren, a dock for swimming - we loved this place. It was clean, comfortable and well-furnished. See the pictures for exactly what you get. The owner was wonderful to work with throughout the process, always available by phone or email, patient with our many questions! I would indeed recommend this property to a friend, and we are already talking about when we can come back.

We just love this cottage! It sits on the ocean, with its own dock (and two kayaks, and perfect protected waters for kayaking!). The sunrises pour into the bedrooms (along with beautiful ocean views and fresh air). The screened-in porch, with a dining table that can seat 12, is fabulous. We've been meeting another family for summer vacations at this house for five years. We always manage to comfortably accommodate both families and other assorted friends, and we always have a wonderful time. The proximity to Sebasco resort allows the children to bike to and from the ice cream shop, gift store, candle-pin bowling, and the saltwater pool. Many of us golf, either on the family course, or the 9-hole course. Of course, we always have a game of lawn bowling at the resort too! Popham beach and Fort Popham are only 6 miles away, which is an easy bike ride or quick car ride. We enjoyed morning walks along that whole stretch of beach each morning this summer. Only the kids were hardy enough to swim in the ocean at that time of day though! While rustic in some ways (no dishwasher or granite countertops), the cottage has cable, broadband, two full bathrooms, a nice gas grill, and a washer and dryer. The beds are fitted with high quality linens, towels are abundant, and the kitchen is well-stocked with cooking equipment. The owners are terrific, and always helpful. We'll keep going back!

This run-down place has NO air, NO dishwasher and was likely a poor place to stay even in the 1940s or 50s, which is probably the last time anthing was done to it. While the Sebasco resort has lovely activities for children, there are many, much better places to stay than this awful house. Holes in the floor, fungus around the bathtubs, terrible beds, broken plaster - and even a mouse in the house! I have used VRBO for many years and have been very please until this experience. I would NOT recommend this abominable property to anyone.

Owner response: As is clear from our photos and many, many positive recent reviews, our property is not a "run down old shack". Yes, it is a 50 year old classic Maine cottage, directly on Casco Bay. Our guests choose to stay here year after year because of its charm and because of what they refer to as our excellent hospitality. Renovations have of course been done through the years and additional ones are planned for this winter. Our beds have new mattresses and linens, ( none more than four years old), and our property manager quickly addresses any concerns. For example the "hole in the floor" was a broken slat on a heating vent which was repaired within two days. The "broken plaster" was an eight inch crack just above the baseboard, which is not unusual in a 50 year old cottage. There is no fungus around the tubs and the entire cottage is cleaned by a professional cleaning crew between each stay. This particular guest complained that we are not on a golf course and have no air conditioning or dishwasher. She is right. We do not have those amenities nor do we state in our VRBO listing that we do. We are actually waterfront, which is clear from the photos on the listing. Her daughter had made the two week reservation and admitted to me that she "assumed" that we had those amenities and that she had confused our listing with other property listings. When we realized how disappointed they were not to be staying in a high end contemporary property, we offered to release them from their lease for the second week and refund their money for that week. However, they chose to stay. It is unfortunate that her disappointment clouded her enjoyment of her family vacation. Perhaps she needs to take more care when selecting a future rental property to find one that more closely meets her personal expectations and desires.

A more beautiful spot right on the water in Maine as pretty as a coffee table book picture would be impossible to find - so glad we did!. Amazing sunsets right from the porch, or in the lighthouse tower at the included Sebasco Resort. Charming, well-equipped, and a picture-perfect setting, with nearby Bath and Brunswick to provide city life. Popham Beach and Morse Mountain Trails with a "Lonely Planet"-class & absolutely secluded mile-long soft sand beach but a stone's throw away - surely two of the best spots in all of Maine. That is, if you even get the desire to leave your charmed spot at this fantastic spot. Lucky and gracious owners are perfect hosts.

Had a great time here! Our 3 generation family fit nicely. The porch was great. We ate most of our meals there and there was plenty of room! The access to the resort activities was a definite plus! We took the scenic boat ride and also the pirate excursion. It was also nice to have ice cream walking distance. The children enjoyed playing at the playground and swimming in the olympic salt water pool. The yard was great. Kayaks are available for your use. The view from the bedroom windows, kitchen and porch was breathtaking. We all appreciated having a washer and dryer. Totham Cove was a nice close by beach. Popham Beach State Park and Fort Popham were close by and the beach there was great! It was our first time in Phippsburg and we would definitely consider a return visit. We are missing the ocean air.

Highly recommended!! Everything was great - only the weather could have been better for our 4 generation family reunion (ages 2 - 85). The owners are fantastic to deal with - very responsive and supportive of anything that you need or if anything goes wrong. The house is great - it is large with lots of living space - we had 9 people stay the entire week including 2 young children and a dog and were always very comfortable. It is clearly more than just a rental property - there is everything you could need right there, including an abundance of towels, linens, kitchen supplies, etc. The house is very clean and well taken care of - the pictures are very accurate.

Owner response: We love to host family groups- there is truly something for everyone in this part of the world!! When we stopped by late one cloudy day, the four generations were all content and happily engaged right at the house. Of course, there are lots or adventures to be had and field trips to explore, but how nice is it to come "home" to your own place? We hope all our guests will feel at home here.

We, my husband and I, celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary with our son and his wife, and our daughter and her husband and our four adult grandchildren, in this wonderful house with it's beautiful setting. It was all perfect in every way, fortunately for us that included the weather! As we drove into the property we could hardly believe it was ours to enjoy and appreciate for our week's stay. It is NOT an ordinary "cottage", it is furnished beautifully, very well equipped, and as I said more than once, "it was too good to be true". We greatly appreciated that the Horners were willing to share this special place and location with strangers. We enjoyed everything, bike riding, kayaking, swimming some (water 68 degrees), sitting and enjoying the view, hiking, eating lobster fresh from the sea, having fresh steamed clams every night, putting it all together made an unforgettable week for our family. We also appreciated the Horner's comments and suggestions, done in a helpful and friendly way. Too, we were very happy that they have a spot. not on their lawn to interfere with croquet being set up for the entire week, to park our RV and still have easy access to it. It was a special occasion in our life together, celebrated in a beautiful place. It could not have been better in any way. Thank you Briane and Stephen Horner for making this a reality. We stayed at Briane and Steve’s Sebasco cottage for a week in early June. The weather was great and the house was perfect. We loved the huge backyard and the beautiful view of the harbor. Beautiful house in great condition. The house is just as pretty and clean as the pictures on the website. All the amenities and details taken care of – the house was well stocked with cleaning supplies, tons of fresh linens, and the kitchen had the basics. Kayaks, BBQ, Lobster cooker and other amenities worked perfectly. Internet and Cable work great, cell reception was OK too! We recommend Spinney’s and Percy’s for lobster. Great access to Sebasco Harbor Resort. This is the best house I’ve ever rented on VBRO and we look forward to coming back again in the future.

We have been holidaying in Maine for over 20 years with our children and now with our grandchildren. Our week in June at this delightful cottage will stand out in our memories. The ocean views, the waterfront with new dock and kayaks for our use, as well as croquet on the front lawn are all unforgettable. We enjoyed our access to the nearby Sebasco Harbor Resort - daily newspapers, bike rentals, a huge salt water pool, great ice cream cones, and a spectacular ocean view from the top of the lighthouse. This cottage was a perfect setting in which to share our love for Maine with our son, daughter-in-law and new grandson. The excellent amenities included a well-equipped kitchen, lots of baby accessories (high chair, pack & play, crib) huge screened in porch, wireless internet, lobster cooker. On top of all this, it is dog friendly! Thank you to the owners for sharing their 'home away from home' with others.

                          Why the Owner Chose Phippsburg:
This is more than 'a vacation rental'. This is where our family enjoys summer together-time. There is something for everyone: from shopping at Bean's, to easy access to museums and theaters. Within minutes one can be at a glorious sandy beach or on the golf course, picking blueberries on the trail, or sailing right off our dock. Mom and Dad like to kayak and we can slide the boats right in from our own float. Sebasco Harbor Resort offers all resort amenities and fun kids events like special pirate cruises and ice cream making!
