I brought my wife and 3 young children to Lake Superior Sands and we had an unforgettable week. The cabin lived up to the hype of the previous reviews and then some. The cabin is terrific and very comfortable and the views are beautiful! My kids loved playing in the fine sand and cool waves of Lake Superior. We couldn't believe how clear the water was! Jim was very helpful and I would highly recommend staying at Lake Superior Sands.

We had the good fortune to spend a week in this luxury cabin for a week in July. When we first entered the cabin, our immediate response was, "WOW"! Everything was perfect and exactly as the owners promised. Jim was always a phone call away to answer questions and suggest activities. The view was breathtaking. Loved my time relaxing on the beautiful beach as I read my summer novels and sipped wine. Worst part of the week....was when we had to leave after our week was over. You will LOVE this retreat! Thanks Jim & Ann!

Thanks to Jim for allowing us to experience this little bit of heaven on the shores of Lake Superior. The cabin is everything he says and more. The drive from L'Anse is spectactular and walks on the sandy beach are to be remembered for a long time. If you enjoy nature at its finest, you will love this location. It is a nature photographers dream. The cabin is beautiful as well as comfortable. You have a chance to see a bald eagle fly by and watch ground squirrels scamper in the bushes. The cabin is located very close to a gem of a waterfall at Big Erick's Bridge, so be sure and check it out. The cabin is centrally located making trips to the Keeweenaw, Point Abbaye, and the Porkies easy within a day. Jim was very helpful and provided excellent resources for the area. We hope to stay there again next year.

My family and I (two adults, two young adult children) spent the first week of August 2010 at Lake Superior Sands LLC. This family vacation was one of our best ever. The accommodations were excellent and the scenery spectacular. A family of bald eagles lived right down the beach from the cabin. The stars at night were unbelievable, we even were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. We really enjoyed the lake, swimming often. Without television we spent many hours in the yard playing every sort of game. Every night we had a bonfire just off the beach. The owner was very attentive and made sure we were well prepared for the week ahead. The cabin was not only beautiful but also very comfortable. I highly recommend this property. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I, along with our nephew, stayed at Lake Superior Sands for 5 nights. It wasn't long enough! This beautiful cabin more than lived up to the listing decription. The cabin is clean and modern on the inside and very warm and inviting. It has all of the modern conveniences that you would find in any new home but it also has the feel of a northwoods cabin. The cabin is steps away from the shore of Lake Superior where you can swim if you are brave(it's cold!! but refreshing!!) or just walk for what seems like miles. The high speed internet keeps you in touch with the world if you want to be. We spent evenings cooking on the grill and then enjoying the stars without the city lights. The owner, Jim, was extremely helpful. He sent us links to many activities in the area, many of which we enjoyed. I would recommend Lake Superior Sands to anyone who wants to get away from it all and appreciates a beautiful setting, indoors and out. We will certainly return.

Our family (three adults and three children) had a fantastic time at Lake Superior Sands! Jim took great care to ensure that things were spic and span and working well before we arrived. He was very prompt and responsive to our questions. He made us feel very welcome and cared for before and throughout the trip. He also supplied us with a very helpful resource guide (things to do in the area), which helped us to plan the trip. The cottage is spacious and has an incredble array of amenities for its location, from the basics (microwave, cooking range, dishwasher), to the extras (beautiful wooden floor and construction, internet connection, high-end cooking utensils, top-of-the-line barbeque grilll). The location is absolutely stunning --- in the same league as the more pristine areas of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. The cottage is footsteps away from a beautiful and quiet beach. The children had a great time playing in the sand and collecting some of Lake Superior's famous colorful pebbles. On the first day, we were bothered by sandflies outside the cottage, but these disappeared by the second day and did not return. We saw spectacular sunrises over the Huron Islands and sunsets over the Keweenaw Peninsula. The location is also great for day trips to the western and central parts of the Upper Peninsula. We did four of these --- one around the Keweenaw Peninsula, including a trip to the Quincy Mine in Hancock, one to Ontonagon and the Porcupine Mountains, one to Watersmeet and the Wisconsin border, and one to Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Each one was a memorable experience, and they all added up to a vacation that we will never forget. I would highly, highly, highly recommend this property.

What a wonderful family vacation we just completed (August 2009). Thanks to Jim & his beautiful property, Lake Superior Sands. We completely reiterate the positive comments that were posted previously. The view, the sugar sand, being right on the lake, and above all, the fabulous cabin ("cabin" just isn't the right word for Jim's building-it's not grand enough!), all of those things are as was written in the preceding positive comments - and more. Jim has the wonderful location and property, and he also supplies the nice extra touches. He has outfitted the cabin with nice extras....the grill, top-notch cooking utensils, cozy down comforters, high-speed internet access, his "area resource guide", and above all his active involvement. Jim's attentiveness, (rapid email reply's, and phone calls) and genuine interest in our vacation came through loud and clear. I just hope all of this deserved praise won't drum-up so much business that it will be too hard to book Lake Superior Sands in the future for our return trip!!

We spent the week of July 25th, 2009 at the cabin and were wowed by the luxurious amenities and stunned by the spectacular view of the Huron Islands. Our group of two families (4 adults and 3 kids) had plenty of space and privacy to sleep and the beds and bedding were great. The sleeper sofa that my son used had the best view of all! The grill was fantastic and cooking was a breeze with the sturdy and attractive utensils. When we weren’t exploring the area, our kids were at the pristine beach swimming, beachcombing and digging in the sand even during the brief rainy spell we had. Insects were minimal. The beach was quiet and for the most part, deserted, and the view from the beach to the Huron Mountains in the distance is of the kind that drops your blood pressure a few points every time you look at it.We especially enjoyed the area in general around Skanee, L’Anse and Houghton/Hancock. People were friendly and helpful. We got directions and local beer from the Huron Tavern, sampled the fare at the Night Owl Café and snagged a few warm pasties from the VFW hall thanks to a local fundraiser on Thursday morning. The Huron River nearby at Big Eric’s Bridge was a fun place to fish, hike and enjoy the scenery. There are many waterfalls in the area and the highest point in the state is a few miles away. Don’t forget to check out the Barraga County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau in L’Anse, which is run by Tracey Barrett, a very personable and helpful soul who, among other suggestions, recommended the Quincy Mine Tour in Hancock (as does Jim in his resource guide), which everyone enjoyed on our last full day in the UP. Jim was a very attentive owner who was willing to offer advice and instruction every step of the way to make our vacation one of the best ever. His resource list helped immensely with choosing restaurants and planning activities in the area and we appreciated the prompt refund of the security deposit. I’d like to come back and stay in the cabin in autumn to see the fall colors and sit by the fire and look out over the lake and observe its continual changes.Kudos to the Megas’ for creating a truly unique blend of simple natural beauty with technological sophistication.

July 19th, 2009 - My family and I (six people) just spent the week as Lake Superior Sands and I would recommend a stay there if you appreciate the finer things in life. There are the big things, which I will talk about later, but it was the little things that added to the experience. What are they? Little Things That Added Up - The appliances were top of the line and it was so nice to have a washer and dryer and dishwasher on site. The high end Teflon pots and pans were a dream as we cooked our meals on site. The silverware and plates had a very luxurious feel. The bed in the master bedroom was firm and comfortable, the room was dark and cool and I slept like a baby the whole week. To put a wrap on the small things the granite kitchen table and counter tops were interesting to look at as I prepared food and ate and I enjoyed the unique brass lamps and the main lighting on dimmer switches. Oh, I forgot, having internet was really nice for my kids. The Big Things: The Cabin. (see the pictures) Incredible! The Beach. Excellent quality sand, just as good as the beaches I have experienced in South Haven Michigan and St. Pete Beach Florida. We made huge sandcastles as a family and it was sandy (not rocky) in The Lake making it warm enough to swim for short periods of time. It is narrower and slightly more difficult to walk through but that is minor when you take into account . . . The Scenery I have been many places and the only place to come close as far as the view is Scottsdale AZ. The combination of Lake Superior, Huron Mountains, Huron Islands, Keweenaw Peninsula, and Point Abbaye was the best panorama I have ever seen. The Huron Mountains added a SUPER nice touch. My eye was always wandering to them. There are some things you need to be aware of as you consider Lake Superior Sands. The insects kept us inside one day of our five day stay. This occured after a rain shower that came out of the south. I have found this to be true in my other Upper Peninsula vacations, your good as long as the wind is from the north or west, but beware of the south winds, they bring out the bugs, especially after a rain. Overall, it was not a big deal to us, we played cards and had a good time together. There was only one inland lakes within a half hour drive to fish and it had only one species of fish (rainbow trout). The good news is there are incredible trout streams and that is what the area is all about anyway. You can fish an

My family and I spent the past week at Lake Superior Sands. I'll have to say it was one of the best vacations we have had as a family. The accommodations are exquisite and the landscape is beyond compare. The cabin is a newly built, beautiful decorated, spacious cabin. The view from the cabin is breath-taking. The beach was beautiful, and is where my two kids spent most of the day, playing in the sand and swimming.
