Christmas in Paris, 2011

The apartment is fantastic and this is a great location in Montparnesse, which is wonderful. My teen daughters and I enjoyed Christmas in Paris, including the gift of having found this delightful apartment to rent on VRBO. This was very easy to travel to from CDG by train, then just a few easy blocks to the apartment. It's a lovely quiet street with easy access to the flower shop, the outdoor market at Rue De Guerre, the metro and of course much more. The apartment is very comfortable and quiet. The building entrance is top notch and certainly secure, very welcoming. Hardwood floors, a sparkling stainless steel kitchen area with a large (by European standards) refrigerator, clean lines of simple furniture from Ikea, a very comfortable queen bed and a great fold-out sofa made this perfect for our week in Paris. There was plenty of space for the three of us in the apartment, including a spacious bathroom The listing and photos were certainly accurate. Everything was sparkling clean and well supplied with nice dishes, cooking equipment, hair dryer, iron and a little grocery pull-along, etc. All the instruction manuals are there for operating the stove, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The owner was very very helpful, pleasant and professional in the arrangements. Payment of the rental fee was easy. Montparnesse is a great place to stay. Definitely choose this apartment if you want to feel like a Parisian and not like a tourist. It's very easy to get to all the sights, but then lovely to be in a normal neighborhood. It was so fun to go out in the morning and get a baguette or croissants - absolutely lovely. We will hope to visit there again and feel lucky that we found this property on VRBO.

We found (as others reviewers have noted) that the place was accurately described. Being a bit older, we were not able to enjoy all the beautiful walks that are available in the immediate neighborhood. We saved our energy, and found a Taxi rank about 100 meters from the front door. We never had to wait for taxi, and got to our destinations easily. We also took the nearby metro occasionally, but the availability and closeness of the taxis won us over. The apartment was extremely comfortable, and we had a unique opportunity to meet with some of the Annette's neighbors who despite their limited English and our limited French were very gracious. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and I am very jealous of future guests who will not be challenged by those last 29 steps now that the elevator goes to the 7th floor. I heartily recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed in this charming, wonderful apartment in Spring and had our best vacation ever. The apartment is as pictured. It is ideally located for traveling within Paris as well as to the airport. The RER station at Denfert-Rochereau has direct trains to Gare Du Nord (Eurostar) and CDG as well as connections to Orly airport. There are at least 5 metro stations within a comfortable walk, the bus line on Blvd Raspail takes the scenic route into town going across the Seine to Rive Droite attractions including Jardins des tuilleries, Louvre, Paris Opera and les grands magasins. The other bus line goes north along Blvd St. Michel through the Quartier Latin, past Notre Dame, Chatelet-Les Halles to Gare Du Nord. The apartment itself has everything you need for a vacation. The neighbor Francois was most generous and friendly to us. Within a very short walking distance of the apartment are several notable attractions. The marche on Rue Daguerre is less than five minutes away and became our favorite place to shop for food for meals we prepared. Dominique Saibron's acclaimed boulangerie is a short walk down Ave du General LeClerc at the Rue Alesia intersection and is worth the walk. Though you will encounter other tempting cafes and bakeries enroute. There is shopping at several Monoprix, large international clothing stores as well as small boutiques in the area. The famous catacombs are at Denfert-Rochereau, Cimetiere Montparnasse has entombed Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone De Beauvoir, Serge Gainsbourg, and Porfirio Diaz amongst other notables. Paris is a very walkable city and our family of four (6y/o and 11y/o children included) were able to walk practically anywhere from this apartment (walked from The Marais, through ile de la Cite, Jardin des Luxembourg back to the apartment). We loved staying in this apartment and look forward to returning here over and over.

This apartment is a wonderful base for active travelers. This was our first VRBO experience and we'd happily stay there again. It is exactly as pictured , and more. The owner is attentive, informed, and pleasant and the apartment shows good attention to detail and local history. The apartment has good light (a skylight adds to its charm) and clever but uncluttered decoration. It's small, but we never felt crowded. There are amenities like the cell phone (you do need to buy a SIM card, about $10), a hair dryer, a collection of good books, excellent guides to Paris and the neighborhood, the view is indeed spectacular, and the WiFi worked flawlessly. Don't miss the courtyard--where Piet Mondrian had his atelier. The Daguerre market is colorful and if you like crepes, you're in easy walking distance of the Breton creperies on Rue Lambert, en route to and from the Luxembourg Gardens. The Montsouris Park is also in easy walking distance, as is the University of Paris. We walked easily to the Louvre, the Left Bank, and the Eiffel Tower (about 45 minutes...) though Metro and bus connections are also convenient. Raspail Metro stop is right around the corner, as well as the train--It's a block to the train and the connection to CDG is easy. On the down side, there's no no dresser (we used shelves and a table) and we had to hang longer garments in the coat closet. The description of a "few" stairs is a bit understated--there are five easy steps to the elevator in the immaculate foyer, about eight up or down to the elevator, and 26 in the spiral up to the apartment floor itself, though we understand there's a plan to make the elevator accessible on the apartment floor at some point. We would certainly recommend this apartment to friends and fellow travelers.

This apartment added to our wonderful stay in Paris. It was well located and right down the street from both the Metro and the RER, which was how we traveled to and from the airport. The owner was very pleasant and easy to deal with. The apartment was very bright and airy, clean and well furnished. It was nice to start our day with a cup of coffee and end it with a glass of wine all in our own apartment. I think it is much better to stay 13 days in an apartment than a hotel room. The owner also had a cell phone to be loaded with minutes, a list of amenities in the neighborhood and some excellent restaurant suggestions. Overall it lacked nothing and added a lot to our stay.

The VRBO description is 100% accurate. The apartment is lovely: very clean and bright, with a modern well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and comfortable bed. The neighborhood is charming and convenient, near the Rue Daguerre, a lively friendly market street. We had an easy trip from CDG airport via RER B to the Denfert Rochereau stop, then a short walk to the apartment. The owners met us at the apartment the morning we arrived, made sure we were comfortable, and recommended their favorite neighborhood bakeries and restaurants. They are very nice and approachable, live nearby, and would be very helpful if any problems arose (we had none). We both had a great experience in May 2009, and would definitely return. Highly recommend.
