We call our artisan country house "Dolce Nido - Sweet Nest". Dolce Nido is a restored classic Italian stone house with beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, whitewashed walls and chestnut shutters. To see more pictures, including a room by room layout and our site, scroll down to bottom of this page after "Dates Available", just before the photos, and click on the phrase: "CLICK HERE - For More Information". The ambience is that of a designer's country hotel - stylish and comfortable, but uncluttered, with hand painted maiolica, kilim rugs, art books, charming antiques gathered from Arrezzo and Paris, new upholstered furniture, embroidered antique linens and excellent mattresses. (We take our comfy beds seriously.) The villa is climatically comfortable. All 24 windows and doors have been equipped with custom window screens to welcome the seasonal breezes. The bedrooms have individual AC units. The property includes a private garden with a gazebo overlooking the olive orchard and distant hill towns and fields. In the private garden is a hot and cold outdoor shower. The terrace accommodates an alfresco dinner for 2 or 12.
SETTING: The Dolce Nido is accessed by a private country road and nestled into the hillside with sweeping views of the hills of Piedicole and Collazzone. The setting is delightful, with its own olive orchard, English garden, gazebo and neighboring fields of sunflowers. Completely private, but not isolated, the villa is just 3K-1.5 miles from E45 which takes you to Todi (15 min), and north to Deruta (10 min), Perugia (25 min), Assisi (30 min), Siena (1 hr), Rome's Via Veneto (1.5 HR), Florence (2 hr).
ENVIRONS: Here you are in the heart of Italy, with neighboring hill towns to explore: Todi, Spoleto, Assisi, Spello, Perugia, Montefalco. Nearby are hiking trails, restaurants, wineries, artisanal shopping, maiolica factories and the endless treasures of Italy. Some of our favorite towns are within 1/2 hour: Todi, Deruta, Asissi, Perugia, Spello, Torgiano, Bevagna and 1 1/2 hours : Montepulciano, Pienza, Spoletto, Siena, Arrezzo.

We enjoyed every moment of this experience. The heavenly sounds of sweet birds. The best part was the Quiet, which had beckoned us all the way from New York.

Your Dolce Nido far exceeded our expectations. Mornings spent reading, sipping coffee, taking in the gorgeous views. A beautiful week of R&R. So glad we stumbled upon your VRBO Artisan’s Cottage.

Your ”Sweet Nest is the most relaxing, serene, time I’ve had in years. I have grown to love doing laundry and hanging it on the line ..a chore I wouldn’t ever do at home! There is no better place to relax and experience Italy than the Dolce Nido.

When we walked into Dolce Nido, we all knew immediately it was exactly what we were looking for, and more! We spent a glorious week in perfect weather, eating, drinking, resting leisurely out under the pergola, tooling around the countryside visiting ancient villages. An absolute dream week. The bedding was soooo comfortable and beautiful. Our week at the Dolce Nido was idyllic. The house, the surroundings, the artistic décor, and all the comforts of home made for an A-plus vacation. Grazie Mille.
