SETTING: We call our artisan country house "Dolce Nido - Sweet Nest. It is accessed by a private country road and nestled into the hillside with sweeping views of the hills of Piedicole and Collazzone. The setting is delightful, with its own olive orchard, English garden and neighboring fields of sunflowers. Completely private, but not isolated, the villa is just 3K-1.5 miles from E45 which takes you to Todi (15 min), Rome's Via Veneto (1.5 HR), and north to Deruta (10 min), Perugia (25 min), Assisi (30 min), Siena (1 hr), Florence (2 hr).
CREATURE COMFORTS: Dolce Nido is a restored classic Italian stone house with beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, whitewashed walls and chestnut shutters. All 24 windows and doors have been equipped with custom window screens to welcome the seasonal breezes. The bedrooms have individual AC units. The property includes a private garden with hot and cold outdoor shower, a gazebo overlooking the olive orchard and a terrace which accommodates an alfresco dinner for 12. The ambience is that of a designer's country hotel - comfortable but uncluttered, with hand painted maiolica, art books, antiques gathered from Arrezzo, lovely linens, new upholstered furniture and mattresses.
ENVIRONS: Here you are in the heart of Italy, with neighboring hill towns to explore: Todi, Spoleto, Assisi, Spello, Perugia, Montefalco. Nearby are hiking trails, restaurants, wineries, artisanal shopping, maiolica factories and the endless treasures of Italy. Some of our favorite Tuscan towns are within 1 - 1.5 hour : Montepulciano, Pienza, Bagno Bignani.
