When we arrived we were very pleased with the house and everything that was furnished for us to use. It was more than we expected. It made our 8-day stay there very enjoyable. We all really enjoyed the outside deck where we could enjoy the sunrises and sunsets and the beach was wonderful to walk on every day. I highly recommend this property. It was very easy to work with the owner. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed.

This was the perfect place for 5 women returning to the Leeward coast for a High School Class Reunion. Growing up on the west side, the beach was so much a part of our lives. This setting provided us with the much needed "down" time to just hang out and enjoy each other, and spend the time catching up on our very diverse and separate lives (we came in from three states and two neighbor islands). The house was spacious and comfortable, well maintained and clean, and it was well equipped with just about every amenity imaginable (although most of our time was spent outside on the patio, yard, beach and water). This really is a perfect place for family reunions or a gathering of friends such as our group.

What a wonderful place. It was describe accurately as on the website. Our family of 12 had a great place to stay, a great view of the ocean, a great beach to swim in, surf in, boogie board in and relax in. Truly a dream come true. Accessible to all other locations (airport, waikiki, Honolulu downtown, Hanauma Bay, Polynesian Cultural Centre, etc. Can't wait to come back and do it all over again. Darla and Laurie are best and easiet host to deal with. Aloha till next time.

Thank you Laurie for your hospitality. We love everything at the beach house. Thank you for all your welcoming edible gifts. We absolutely love, love, love the pies. Thank you Darla for helping us booking this place so fast and easy. We think you are the best booking agent in Hawaii!! You deserve a raise :) It was our first vacation in Hawaii, and it won't be our last. We'd recommend this beach house to everyone. We love the fact the house is right on the beach and it is absolutely wonderful to be able to hear the ocean waves at night time. Thank you so much for giving our family many wonderful memories in Hawaii.

This is truly a great vacation rental. I have stayed there several times with large groups and have been very happy each time. Ka Hale Kai is large, clean, comfortable, quiet, and right on the beach. For those who like surfing, the waves are good and consistent, especially in the summer. The house has nice decor, plenty of sleeping space, wireless Internet, a TV/DVD player, two kitchens, and everything a guest could need. The prices are also very reasonable when compared to other houses on the island of similar size. Best of all, the owner Laurie and the booking agent Darla are exceptionally friendly and hospitable, true examples of the Aloha spirit. I can honestly recommend this house to anyone who would like a pleasant place for their large family or group to stay.

Dear Laurie, Thank you so much for everything. All of us enjoyed the pies very much, as well as the fruit baskets, the chocolate and the cookies. You have an excellant location and beautiful beach house. We absolutely love the back yard where the white sandy beach is just steps away. The star-lit sky is so clear in the night. We witnessed bright shooting stars falling all the way to the horizon. We loved our family time in the house, the well equipped kitchen has everything we needed. Thank you again for sharing this lovely house with our family. We will surely be back on our future trips to Oahu. Mahalo!

Our large family group was very comfortable in this spacious beach house. The bathrooms were spotless and kitchens extremely well set up for occupation. Basics such as paper towels, hand soap and bathroom tissue were provided for us and the beds and linens were lovely. Our hosts went to a great deal of trouble to arrange play pens for four infants and had even provided children's toys, books and puzzles. There was TV and videos for the rainy days too. There were also a lot of beach toys there for the kid's to enjoy. A nice bonus was the laundry facilities provided. We especially enjoyed the fruit baskets and coffee that Darla and Laurie surprised us with on our arrival. This was a great place to vacation at and with the help of our GPS we had no trouble touring around the island in our rental vehicles. We saw the northern surfing beaches, the Dole pineapple plantation, the "Flea Market" at the stadium and spent a day at the Outlet Mall. Another day we ventured into Honolulu for the International Market Place. We also went to a Luau at Paradise Cove and finished off with a day at Pearl Harbor. The children had great fun "Trick or Treating" at one of the local malls on Hallowe'en! Many parents were in costume too! All in all this was a fun trip with great hosts and we highly recommend it. Thank-you Laurie and Darla and all the others who helped make our vacation the success it was.

We drove up to this Adorable Large Cottage-Style Home that really accommodates a Large family. This home really is on beach/oceanfront! We had 4 young adults, 7 older adults, 3 kids & 2 infants. We also rented a little cottage on same property. Laurie (owner) & Danielle were very helpful & checked up on us to make sure we were okay & not too cramped. Laurie even offered another vacation house that was not even ready for rent which she cleaned up & made it very comfortable for the rest of my family (elders), as it would be more comfortable than using the sofa beds. We left all windows open & loved listening to the ocean all day long. Dad would wake up every morning and watch/film/take pictures of the beautiful sunrise. The yard is gated so little ones do not run into the beach by themselves. We would relax outside & stare at the waves & have a great large family time including barbecuing. One of the master bedroom has a king size bed. Lots of accessories they provided including surf boards, boogie boards, infant swim vests, water shoes, sandals, noodles for swimming, chairs, lounge chairs, beach towels, kitchen fully stocked with all utensils even some kids utensils, movie dvds, infant dvds, kids toys, kids water toys, lots of other things...too many to list. Danielle & Laurie even brought us a Macadamian Nut Pie & a Chocolate Haupia Pie...YUMMY! Some side notes: Beautiful large tiled floor was hard to clean due to sand, we bought Swiffer from Costco & tried to clean the floor everyday. Inside large kitchen was great but there was no ventilation system & we were afraid smoke alarm would go off (don't want to disturb the neighbors) so we cooked in the other kitchen which was right next to the sliding door for ventilation. Llarge dining table was wobbly & may fall apart. We only used the small dining table & crowded all chairs together (cozy family :-)) which had a great view of beach & ocean. There is a small family room with black leather sofas which is absolutely comfortable & adorable (picture provided by owners does not do it justice) where if several people had to get away from our large family chatter that was our escape room...so comfortable. We bought insect repellent incense at the local liquor store & burned it by every doorway to prevent any uninvited critters from coming inside the house. Most of bathrooms have showers & one bathroom has a tub which was convenient for kids. There for 5 days & we ALL wished we could have extended our stay. TY

We stayed at Ka Hale Kai in August of 2010. Laurie and Darla are the most gracious and hospitable people imaginable. They went out of their way to make sure that our stay was pleasant. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable. We found it full of little details that are perfect for guests: Hawaiian art, guidebooks about Hawaii, many movies, boogie boards, surfboards, reef shoes, beach chairs, and much more. The beach is beautiful and uncrowded, one of Oahu's best-kept secrets. Sunsets and Diamond Head views are awesome. If you're looking for a vacation rental, this is the place to choose!

I wanted to let everyone know how much we enjoyed our week at this house. The home was beautiful, and Laurie & Darla are great to work with. They are the perfect team. Darla is extremely helpful in setting everything up, and Laurie was awesome in helping while we were in Hawaii, and we really appreciated all the extra's, which we were not expecting. Laurie really is one of the best assets of the house. We were there over the 4th of July, and all we did was pull chairs out onto the beach. We had an awesome view of Pearl Harbor's show. It truly felt like we were there. You are very close up to them. Then after that show, Waikiki has a show. That one is far away, but you can still enjoy them. We got two shows back to back, which was nice. Our vacation was mulitple families together from different states, a total of 9 people, and the house was perfect. There was plenty of room for everyone, and it was easy access to go to all of the places we wanted over the island. It was incredible to sit down and listen to the ocean right outside our door ... very relaxing. I highly recommend this house to anyone. You will love it!

"Mahalo! Mahalo! Mahalo Nui Loa." This was the most "fun", "enjoyable" and most relaxing vacation that our family has ever had. The location was easy to get to, the house and lodgings were perfect, the weather was great, we couldn't have ordered anything better. Everyone was blown away at how beautiful the house is, the amenities offered, how family friendly it is, and how sweet and friendly both Laurie and Danielle are. The impact of staying here, has triggered our family group to plan another vacation stay. Will be keeping in touch and to say hello. Our warmest Aloha and thank you from our Ohana to your Ohana.

We had a wonderful time at the house, everything was provided and the house is huge and very comfortable, besides being right on the the beachfront. We liked to take walks along the front of the beach house and it was peaceful and beautiful, the house allows 7 people to have their own space because it has 2 kitchens and 2 livingrooms, at night we qould sit outside and drink our coffee and talk. We ate most of our meals at home, we bought our food at foodland, in town on Geiger St. We did take in Waikiki and the other tourist spots, but this was a more relaxing trip for us instead of running around, you can do both. Thank you Laurie and Darla for your help and the wonderful candy, juices, and coffee. Until we can return, Angelina Garcia

My husband and I took a group of students to Oahu and Maui and rented Laurie and Darla's Ewa Beach house. We absolutely loved the house, which is comfortable, low-key, right on the beautiful beach and esay to find. Darla was wonderfully helpful in pointing us to local spots and giving us ideas for fun adventures during our trip. The house was peaceful and fully equipped. We will definately be back!

4 adult sons, 2 grandmas, one daughter in law and us - a pretty mixed bag of people for our vacation and this house was just perfect! Laurie was very helpful. My mother was concerned that the shower did not have a grab bar and the next day grab bars were installed in all of the showers! There were two kitchens, great as one fridge held all the beverages and the other the food. Laurie even arranged a sea kayak and life jackets for the guys. Great location, great view and great fun. The other very important item to note was that we had to make a date change from our initial booking, and I thought I would lose my deposit. Darla was very empathetic to my problem and simply rescheduled our booking with no penalty. I would highly recommend working with these two fine people at any time.

Our whole family of 14 stayed in this well equipped, clean, quiet house for a week. We also rented the beach house to accommodate 2 seniors, 3 adult couples, 2 young adults, 3 teenagers and 1 toddler. It gave everyone their own space. It was a very nice to have the welcome fruit baskets, milk, juice, coffee and cookies waiting for us..........and the pies they brought later in the week were just delicious! We did all our own cooking and barbecuing with a better equipped kitchen than the one I have at home. Lots of tips of the area and places to go were very helpful. We all enjoyed a 50th Anniversary supper at Chuck's Steak & Seafood at Ko'Olina Resort. We all loved Wet & Wild, just a short distance away. I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The only drawback was that a good swimming beach was not right at your door, otherwise it was perfect and the hospitality was great.

I have been meaning to write this review since we came back from our family vacation in March, 2010. I think the best review I can give this house is that it made our vacation! While we loved Oahu and all of the activies it offers for kids and adults, it was coming back to our own little paradise after a day out or just spending the hours on the beach that we looked forward to the most. There were 8 of us and we had both sides of the house. It was so nice to have a space where the kids could hang out and watch cartoons for down time while we could sit in the other living room sharing a glass of wine or playing cards. We can't say enough about Darla and her helping to plan our vacation or Laurie and her amazing hospitality. We arrived the day the Tsunami was supposed to hit Hawaii after the earthquake in Chile. Laurie was so upset she couldn't put in all of the goodies she wanted in the welcome basket because people were buyhing up all the goods from the grocery stores in preparation for the Tsunami. She seemed more worried for us than for herself. We did LOVE the pie when she did bring it buy later on! We also loved the beach. It was like having our own private beach where we felt safe to let the kids play. It was so nice seeing the local kids out surfing and fishing in the evenings. We would highly recommend this rental to any friends and family. We can't wait to go back!

What a fabulous rental! This was the perfect retreat for our family, with more than enough room for 8 adults and a baby. This house has everything you will need, and more. The yard and beach are perfect with plenty of sun and shade for everyone. We even found great surfing lessons, a 5K race and Triathlon within a few miles of the house. Thanks Laurie and Darla. We will be back!

We arrived late on Christmas Eve and could not really enjoy the location until Christmas morning. Listening to the waves right out our front door made all our memories of the snow and cold weather we had just left disappear. Darla, Laurie and Danielle were so welcoming and even had a welcome basket and a turkey that we cooked for Christmas dinner. What a surprise! Our son and daughter-in-law were renewing their wedding vows on this trip so we brought along a house full of people. The layout worked out well for our group with plenty of beds and bathrooms. Spending most of Christmas day on the beach right outside our door was fabulous! Everyone in our group loved the house and the location is perfect. Mingling with the locals is so much more enjoyable than going to a tourist hotel. Thanks again Darla, Laurie and Danielle.

We almost felt like we were at home and can't wait to return very soon. Thank you for making our stay complete.

It is my pleasure to write a review of my stay at the Properties of Laurie / Darla on Ewa Beach. The accommodations were perfect for my family gathering this past November 2010. From my grandson of 3 years to my 83 year old parents; the properties were perfect to accommodate the 10 adults and children. The beach was out the back door that allowed the children to play and my parents to watch on and still be apart of the fun. I had considered the north shore but with this property located on the south shore it was near the airport to logistically move family member to and from their flights. Each of the three units were well equipment for any request, BBQs,blenders to beach play toys. All you need is a small suitcase of your favorite suntan lotion and swim suite. These ladies have thought of everything. It felt like home and Laurie provides the aloha spirit making our stay for a perfect family gathering that we all will always remember. Nice job! You will not be disappointed should you select this BEACH HOUSE property.

This property is 100% better than the pictures can portray. It is located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, yet conveniently located with easy access to highways. I enjoyed watching the ships go by, the Honolulu lights, the view of Diamond Head, collecting shells on the beach, and boogie boarding in the ocean. We could either cook in the fully furnished kitchen or out on the BBQ grill on the lanai. Lori is a terrific hostess. We were very impressed with the fresh fruit and candy that welcomed us. There was a typhoon watch while we were there, and she called to put our fears to rest. We felt right at home and everything we needed was at our disposal right down to the crock pot, fins and snorkels, even beach toys. This is a fantastic property and we hope to return someday.

We stayed at Ka Hale Kai house from June 8 - 14th for our wedding ceremony and reception. We were married on June 13th, and it was PERFECT! The majority of our guests stayed at the house and they all found it comfortable and just like home. The beachfront was perfect for our ceremony and the secluded nature of the property created just enough privacy for our intimate event. The backyard was the ideal setting for our reception and fit a tent and 4 tables very comfortably. Ka Hale Kai will always hold a special place in my heart and I will look back on my wedding day with only positive feelings and thoughts because Ka Hale Kai made it everything I had always dreamed it would be. My in-laws stayed at Ka Hale Kai and Ka Hale Nui in late July to be here for my wedding to their son. The house was so perfect- breathtaking views, monk seals on the beach every morning, friendly neighbors, you name it. The home itself was also perfect. It was decorated beautifully, fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed, and very very clean. It is quite large, and slept 10 people comfortably. The landlord Lori was amazing- friendly, accommodating and attentive. Darla, the booking agent was great as well. Darla also helped my side of the family find a separate rental after we had a terrible experience with a house we had booked. I got on the phone with her, and five minutes later she had a place all set up for us! Great house, great people, great company, what more could you ask for?

Loved getting up ahead of the kids and taking a walk or run on the beach followed by a cup of coffee and light breakfast with just the adults. Darla was so great in arrainging everything for the reservation, and Laurie was great to greet us and help us get situated. She then came back around to make sure our needs were being met. Nice touch! Can't thank you enough for a most relaxing and memorable week!

Our relatives in Hawaii told us not to rent in Ewa Beach because of the traffic problems. Hoowever with the help of the rental owners this problem was alleviated and it was a destination we came to enjoy. With seven of us there we had enough space to have company(the rest of my Hawaii family to come visit) or be by ourselves. There was also surprising extras like the boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkel outfits which made enjoying the ocean so much more. The kitchen was well equipped so we prepared most of our own dinners. And for the kids the free WIFI kept them in touch with the mainland. Overall a very enjoyable time.

Ka Hale Kai Beach Resort was truly a lovely place. It has a billion dollar view, you listen to the tradewinds blowing, the sounds of the surf, and see the lights of Waikiki. We started out with the wonderful fruit basket the Laurie has left for us, along with the kona coffee, milk and juice and water in the refridge. We have a marvelous time and have reccomended to all our freinds. We had 7 in our party and there were plenty of room!! The fenced yard was great as we had our 3 year old grandson along and no worries about in running into the ocean. Laurie had all the boogey boards one could ask for, snorkels and fins, kayak, surfboard, and sand toys! It was so relaxing to hear the waves upon waking and the outside table with the umbrellas were great, that were we spent the time, when we were are the house. You can snorkel right from your private beach, be careful of the coral. While we were there a seal came up on the beach for several days just to sun herself. The traffic was very busy but we ventured out daily to see all the sites. Laurie has brochure-of all the different places and all the maps and guide books. Speaking of books they were 2 or 3 TV's, DVD's, games and toys for the Grandchild, yes even a stroller! Also we left a container of plaster of paris so that future guest could mold the hand prints or feetprint out the the sand on the beach!! The kitchen was well appointed with everything that we needed. In the morning, we would cook our breakfast and be off for the day! At night the propane grills worked wonderfully, as we were having our cocktails outside, my son, Alan, did the grilling. We also ate our dinner outside to the sounds of the surf! Point in infomation there in a Costco a couple of miles from the house! This helps with the grocery bill. We did eat in town at the Japenese and the Chinese restaurants that were terrific! The town of ewa is not very busy as in Honolulu, thnk God for that! All I can say to Laurie, Darla, and Danielle are KUDOS!! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!! Hope to see you again! We were looking for that special place to hold our first-ever staff retreat and were very pleased that we held it here. If I had to choose just one word to best describe our experience, it would be BREATHTAKING. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the kitchen was fully stocked, gift baskets were yummy, there was more than enough room to hold our staff retreat of 10 people, and spacious enough to give us that "comfortable" feeling. The beach is at your fingertips, and the views are amazing!! Laurie & Darla make sure you have anything you need to make this a perfect vacation. My daughter forgot the baby’s stroller and Laurie had one over within minutes. There a lots of water toys at the house, from sand buckets to surf boards. I highly recommend this house on the beach. Thank you so much for our experience of a lifetime.

It was my first time to Hawaii and my first time on Oahu. My entire family stayed here and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house was arranged so that all 7 of us had our space, we had everything we needed. Laurie was so kind and helpful and answered all of our questions. The beach was wonderful, everything we needed for the beach was there, the time spent was so very comfortable and relaxing. I would reccommend this house to anyone wanting a quiet, enjoyable, relaxing place after sight seeing and driving around. Thanks for everything Darla and Laurie and Danielle. Carol Hutchinson

I, my mother, and aunt were part of the extended family mentioned in the comment by Jim Ball of 10/08/08. Renting this house felt like a home away from home. It is so well equipped in every way and decorated so lovingly that one could NOT ask for anything more. It felt very welcoming, inviting, and homey. Laurie is a wonderful, warm person; Danielle, too, is warm and helpful. They are both there for you but never intrusive. Everyone slept very well in the comfortable beds. The beach is beautiful and the scenery fantastic. After our week in Ka Hale Kai, we three spent three days in Waikiki and the hustle and bustle of that famous destination caused us to think wistfully back to lovely Ka Hale Kai. We give this rental the highest recommendation - think charm, atmosphere, warmth, and comfort and you won't be disappointed. Thank you Laurie and Danielle!

My extended family rented the premises for a vacation/family wedding. Extended means my wife, 12 yr old son, 7 year old disabled daughter, grandma and two aunts. The accomodations are unbeatable for a larger family who need a home base for relaxing and sightseeing Oahu. Darla was invaluable in getting us there and Laurie went way beyond the call of duty in being an accomodating landlord and tour guide. Facilities are clean and as advertised with some extra thrown in to surprise you. The ambiance of the home left something for the whole family; beautiful flowers for the ladies, easily manageable for my daughter in a wheelchair, shells and a coconut on the beach for my son and quiet evenings on the deck for me. The neighbour and helper Danielle handled any questions. Ewa Beach is away from the hustle and bustle but the whole island is easily accessible by car. (Like any major city, avoid rush hour)

My family of 8 just returned from a family trip to visit my husband's family on the Big Island and stopped on Oahu for about 5 days. What a WONDERFUL surprise to find this home and the one attached to it. The homes were perfect! Decorated so well that we went home and tried to recreate the feeling we had while we were there. The owner, Laurie, and her agent, Darla, were so gracious and friendly. The kitchen was stocked with everything from rice cooker to wine bottle opener and Laurie even had a wonderful gift of pineapple, Kona coffee, and macadmia nuts waiting for us. The sound of the ocean and the feel of the tradewinds cannot be beat. Yes, the traffic is bad during the commute time, but hey, we were on vacation and just adjusted our schedule when we left - which wasn't very often! Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby and the house is right on the ocean. We usually stay in Waikiki but will never again - we will always plan our vacations in the future around the availability of this wonderful house!

What a great place and Laurie was so accomodating. The house has million dollar views from the back lawn. In the evening you can feel the tradewinds blowing, listen to the sounds of the surf, and see the lights of Waikiki. You have your own private beach, while a little rough for swimming, it is great for surfing and sand play for the kids. The house comes with plenty of water toys to keep even the oldest of kids busy in the water. The house has almost every ammenity you want. The kitchen is well stocked for any meal and any utensil you need to cook is available. If you wanted to go out or had travel questions, there were tons of information books available. I would recommend skipping going out one evening and BBQ in the back and eat on the deck. It is an experience you will not want to miss. Laurie was very accomodating even for my handicapped mother-in-law, even going out of her way to supply additional items. If you are bringing someone in a wheelchair, make sure you get the smaller side, as it is much more wheelchair accessible. Darla and Laurie were great to work with.
Owner response:We are always happy to have families. The times spent together are very precious. We alway try to accommodate the needs of all our guests. The beach is not always rough. Sometime offshore storms can bring in some waves. The waves are not dangerously high and they are great usually for boogie boarding. Compared to most of the island I would say the waves are average and quite tame most of the time. Often times you can see surfers at a distance. Most of our guest don't want to leave and many want to come back. We really were happy to have Michael and his family. Please do come back again! Aloha and best wishes to your family! Laurie and Darla
