Why the Owner Chose Bend

We knew we wanted to be in sunny central Oregon, but started our search in some of the resorts and the small town of Sisters. But the center of activities and the great variety of restaurants drew us to Bend proper and then to the popular west side. We were lucky to find property with views of mountains in 2 directions and backing to wild and natural scrub, which is owned by the Central Oregon Community College - but will likely never be developed (straight from the college president).

The Unique Benefits at this House

Besides everything noted above the summer also is a great time to visit the water slide and play area at the city owned Juniper Swim and Recreation Center. There is a year round outdoor 50 m pool (covered in the winter) and a 25 m indoor and also a indoor swing and children's pool for year-round use. Rock climbing at nearby Smith Rocks State Park is very popular as is boating at some of the many lakes in the area. The biking magazines name Bend as one of the top US locations, both for street and especially an extensive mountain bike network. Don't forget kayaking or floating the Deschutes.

Owner's Map of Bend

We are avid travelers yet one of our favorite places to be is at our Bend vacation home. There is so much to do in Bend, especially if you enjoy outdoor recreation. We cross country ski (our knees don't allow downhill), fish, hike, bike and play tennis (walking distance to community college courts). As music lovers we enjoy the free outdoor summer concerts and the special concerts and events too. There is always something happening in Bend - Balloons Over Bend in June, nearby rodeos and quilt show, a wonderful community 4th of July, arts festivals... you name it. To top it off the weather is normally sunny!! Though we don't golf, there are some of the best courses in the nation right in the area.
