Excellent property in a great location! Walked to the coffee shop down the street several mornings. Great access to amenities in town and to the mountain. Only minor negative was that the pull out sofa frame was broken. Still able to use the other convertible sofa and the sleeping mats so all was good. Had a great stay!

Owner response: Glad you enjoyed our rental home. We try to make it a home away from home. The hide-a-bed mentioned was taken off the listing in December when it was broken, and the maximum renters reduced. Though an added Euro-lounger is not on the listing it is a quasi replacement.

We could not have asked for a better vacation at Juniper Jewel. Our expectations were far surpassed in a clean, warm, inviting house with a view, woods to walk in out back, more kitchen amenities than we could ever use, and a glorious hot tub. The living space is so open and bright that we never felt cramped. The table easily seated 10 people for dinner and the kitchen accommodated 4 cooks! We played games (provided by the owners), watched football on a lovely TV, cooked, hiked, enjoyed gorgeous evening sunsets from the porch. It was absolutely perfect. We highly recommend this home away from home.

We were pleasantly surprised by this house. The photos don't do it justice! We felt so comfortable and cozy here. A few deer visited us in the back yard, and we so enjoyed the hot tub in the crisp autumn evenings. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and staples. We loved the woodsy décor and felt totally welcome there. With family living in Bend we will be visiting occasionally, and this home will definitely be our first choice for lodging!

This house provided so much more than two motel rooms would have - four work friends reconnecting after several years - we used to travel to meetings together prior to our retirements. Sally & Jim the house was absolutely just what we needed - spacious, clean, comfy beds and a well-stocked kitchen. I've wanted to stay at your vacation rental for some time but this was my first opportunity. Thank you for providing us with such a great place to stay. Hope to be back. Will certainly recommend to family and friends.

We would highly recommend this property for a vacation in Bend. It is in a nice neighborhood that sits up on a hill so you aren't hemmed in by trees. There are good trails behind the house to go walking. It is a nice open house with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has everything you would need. Very clean. Comfortable furniture. All the things that make time away from your home pleasant. When communicating with the owners you get quick responses. If you are searching for a place to stay and there are openings on their calendar, book it before anyone else gets it. Bend is a nice day trip to Crater Lake. That was beautiful. You won't be sorry.

We stayed for week and it felt like home. Very comfortable, super clean and all the extras available. Hot tub was great to enjoy the evening sky, BBQ on the deck. Location is quiet, and close to a wonderful neighborhood, Newport Market, Back Porch coffee, Chow all close by and we visited these places a lot. The view of the mountain was nice. The trail out the back was fantastic to access the many trails in Bend. This place had all we were looking for and it still exceeded expectations. If you have a hard time on stairs this may not be the place for you. The driveway is steep and there are stairs to get to the living quarters. Not a problem for us, but may be for people with difficulty climbing stairs. Not a complaint! just a note...Thank YOU for sharing your home.!

My boyfriend, his two children (8 & 11) and I spent 4 nights at the Juniper Jewel and loved it. The house was spotless when we arrived (I wish I had their housekeeper). The kitchen is well-equipped which made cooking a breeze. Of course there's plenty to do in Bend & the vicinity, but even when we were just hanging at the house, the ping-pong table, board games & bikes gave the kids great alternatives to TV. There were many other thoughtful touches in the house, from robes for the hot tub to microwave popcorn to multiple (well-thumbed) guidebooks for Bend. We would definitely come back.

The Juniper Jewel is an excellent retreat house away from home! It has all the fine comforts of home in a location that is the gateway of outdoor activities and adventure. When I recently went it was apparent that the owners take pride in this house; there was new carpet, a new BBQ, newly painted, etc.... it is kept up very well and is located in a quiet neighborhood. One extra benefit is that my dog can accompany me here and I don't have to leave her at home while I am out enjoying the outdoors - this is a pet friendly place. Overall, I cannot speak to highly of the Juniper Jewel - it truly is a home away from home! Gina in Portland, OR

Walking into the Juniper Jewel, we were struck by how impeccably clean and well maintained it is. The furnishings are comfortable, the beds are cozy, and the kitchen is well appointed. The house is situated on a steep lot, and the front and side entries require use of stairs, so bear that in mind if your mobility is limited. Once up to the main floor, access in and out the back where the hot tub is located is pleasantly flat. The hot tub is right outside the back door of the master suite, keeping time in the chilly winter air to a minimum. Aaaahhhh. The house is in a nice part of town with a short drive or bike ride to some very tasty eating. Access to the highways in and out of town and up to Mt. Bachelor is also very easy.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2002

About the owner: We are avid travelers yet one of our favorite places to be is at our Bend vacation home. There is so much to do in Bend, especially if you enjoy outdoor recreation. We cross country ski (our knees don't allow downhill), fish, hike, bike and play tennis (walking distance to community college courts). As music lovers we enjoy the free outdoor summer concerts and the special concerts and events too. There is always something happening in Bend - Balloons Over Bend in June, nearby rodeos and quilt show, a wonderful community 4th of July, arts festivals... you name it. To top it off the weather is normally sunny!! Though we don't golf, there are some of the best courses in the nation right in the area.

                      Why the Owner Chose Bend:
We knew we wanted to be in sunny central Oregon, but started our search in some of the resorts and the small town of Sisters. But the center of activities and the great variety of restaurants drew us to Bend proper and then to the popular west side. We were lucky to find property with views of mountains in 2 directions and backing to wild and natural scrub, which is owned by the Central Oregon Community College - but will likely never be developed (straight from the college president).

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Besides everything noted above the summer also is a great time to visit the water slide and play area at the city owned Juniper Swim and Recreation Center. There is a year round outdoor 50 m pool (covered in the winter) and a 25 m indoor and also a indoor swing and children's pool for year-round use. Rock climbing at nearby Smith Rocks State Park is very popular as is boating at some of the many lakes in the area. The biking magazines name Bend as one of the top US locations, both for street and especially an extensive mountain bike network. Don't forget kayaking or floating the Deschutes.
