Sitting on over an acre of some of the most incredible land you will find in the Dominican Republic. The casita has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a great master suite. The over sized patio has plenty of living space including areas for dining , sitting and relaxing. All of the exquisite decorating is in complete harmony with this special location. Situated on a cliff overlooking the turquoise blue sea is a large classic infinity edged pool . With a built-in bench that faces the magical ocean view .You can relax and try to take in all the beauty.
Take a look at our new website! www.casitaofcabrera.com
We have now added Solar to to power the casita. How wonderful to be free of the bad electric power from the street.
No A/C though that is the trade off.
Come and enjoy this incredible private and beautiful Spanish style casita. Sitting on over an acre of some of the north coast’s most beautiful ocean front property, you will be able to relax and enjoy the experience of the best Caribbean island there is. The casita is small, but was built with every consideration for details, nothing was over looked. Using the materials local to the island such as coral stone thru out for all of the floors, all the windows and doors were handmade with mahogany, it is all very elegant. And all the furniture was custom built for the house .The construction was just completed .

Our casita is located 10 minutes away from one the most spectacular golf course you will every play on, Playa Grande. This golf course was design by none other than Robert Trent Jones and it was he last one he designed in the Caribbean. Also it was one of his favorites. The course is set up on the cliffs of the ocean so there are nothing to interrupt the incredible views that are with you the whole way around. There are 12 holes that are right on the ocean so there are plenty of ocean breezes to keep things exciting. Play well.
And if golf isn’t your game or when you get done playing a round of golf, go and enjoy the beach of Playa Grande. Miles of white sand and lots of palm trees border the most fantastic beach around. This is located a one minute drive from the golf course. You just wouldn’t believe how beautiful the ocean is. A few small beach huts that are located in one area of the beach, and the locals will prepare for you the best of the Dominican cuisine. They really do prepare great food, so don’t be shy.
There are many sights to see and things to do around this part of the Dominican Republic. You can do as little or as much as you want. Just come and enjoy.

My wife and I stayed at the casita for our honeymoon, and it was one of the best vacations we have ever taken. The scenery and views are mindblowing and spending lazy afternoons poolside was our favorite activity after mornings at the beach or exploring local towns. The house itself was very clean and well put-together when we arrived. The kitchen is modern, as is the bathroom, and the bed faces straight out towards the pool and ocean -- a perfect way to wake up each day. The gardener (Daniel) and nightwatchman (Mariano) are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and will give you privacy if that's what you're looking for. Unless we sought them out for a chat, we hardly noticed they were around. It was very nearby to a few great beaches (Grande, Preciosa, Diamonte) and Cabrera and other nearby towns have some good restaurants should you want to venture out for a meal away from the home (always a big decision when staying at a place as nice as this!). All in all, it was a fantastic stay. Thank you Gretchen for sharing such a wonderful place and for being so professional, easy to work with, and accommodating along the way.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a perfect spot for lovebirds looking for a peaceful, laid back oasis. The casita is surrounded by beautiful, spacious gardens, has a magnificent view of the cliffs and ocean and is a perfect layout for two. It's a quick guagua ride to town where the locals are friendly and pleasant. Don't come expecting lots of American style entertainment but if peace, serenity and the pleasure of Margaritaville call to you, this is the place to be. You'll definitely want to return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the kind words. I hate to brag but this is just a very special spot!

This is one of the most charming, serene, secure and all around COMFORTABLE casitas you will find anywhere in the Caribbean.Nestled into the side of a mountain,at the end of a drive that services four other homes, you find yourself in your own private little paradise 60' or so above the ocean.A beautifully maintainedlawn with a pool that steps is from your bedroom. The view here down and across the ocean is stunning, every day--all day. I have had the opportunity of enjoying a career sailing the oceans in some pretty cool places.Cabrera is right up ther for some top spots for it's beautiful beaches and the great views from the north shore of D.R.,but the lovely and fun locals of Cabrera are indeed the selling point here. You can chat up the fishermen as they bring in their catch at a little beach just before you enter Cabrera coming from the casita.GREAT dorade at an excellent price! The resaurants in Cabrera offer some great local dishes. this was truly a great stay for us ,and of course we did not want to leave, ever. We had the good fortune of being on island when the owner of the casita was there as well.A gracious hostes, she was kind enough to show us around, introduce us to a few locals, and grace us with her company for dinner. THIS is a very cool spot!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Pictures and words cannot describe the Casita... You MUST go and see for yourselves. Once we got there we had to pinch ourselves! Driving in from the front gate the views of the ocean and cliffs pull you in. The infinity pool is fantastic. We liked the fact that it was a salt water pool as well. It was very hard venturing out from the Casita. Before we got there my husband and I had several plans to go out on day trips, even adding a GPS to our car rental but only used it once! We then decided to either just stay at the Casita or take a short drive to Playa Grande, which was one of, if not THE best beach we have ever been to. Wilson, the local owner of a small restaurant on the beach greeted us with a smile and let us pick where we wanted to sit. He put a table and chairs down for us under the coconut tree of our liking, and fittingly said “Welcome to Paradise!”. We stayed there for a week and were so sad to leave! The entire place was immaculate. The gardener and nightwatchman were both very polite and helpful. They also gave us our privacy, so it felt like they weren't even there. We did not regret staying at the house instead of going on day trips because we know we will travel to Cabrera again! Thank you Gretchen for such a pleasant place to call home for a week. Hope to stay there again soon because it was truly memorable.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

My husband and I spent our 35th anniversary here and I have to say it was one of the most memorable vacation destinations we have been to. All the reviews posted previously on here says it all and more. My only regret is that we didn't spend more time at the casita. We spent 3 days exploring the Samana` peninsula...well worth the trip. Every beach was more beautiful than the one before it and the El Limon waterfall is awesome! Meanwhile, at the casita, the view is amazing. The vision I have of looking out to the ocean from the pool will never leave me. The 96(?) stairs to the beach below was a bit of a challenge but I made the trip at least once a day. Found quite a bit of sea glass to make the hike well worth it! One thing I would recommend is to learn some basic Spanish. Few people in town speak English, but that did not detract from the experience. Looking forward to returning in the near future!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

I was able to spend more than a week at this remarkable Casita last month. Everything was absolutely perfect, the house itself, the interior and exterior design, the outdoor seating and dining areas (that were always in the cool shade), the pool, lounges, grounds, view, constant cooling breeze, I could go on and on. Beautiful flowers awaited us inside, on the table, the bed and the bath. The kitchen is fully equipped and full of basic food staples to make life easier. The bathroom is exquisite with a partially open shower with a floor of river stones and sea life tiles. Plenty of space in a huge closet along with an immense and beautiful mirror. The pool is kept in immaculate condition and every leaf on the ground is picked up daily by your own groundsman/watchman. At night there is another lovely man to watch over the property. This is not a gated community, it is set on the most beautiful spot with only a few bits of houses in view. We never saw another sole. It was just what we were looking for - a perfect romantic getaway! We had most all of our meals at the house, it was too hard to leave! There is a grocery, a fabulous bakery (that made us a cake to order) and a very good produce market in town. The town is basic but everyone is very friendly and we found everything we needed. We had lunch at Playa Grande beach (a couple of miles away) and they set up a table and chairs wherever we wished and brought us perfectly cooked red snapper and the best conch salad we have ever had. One day we ordered fish from the beach stands and brought it home. Even thought the beach is brilliant, we loved being at the house. We were able to arrange to have several massages at the house, right on the shaded porch-with the breeze blowing over us-it was an amazing experience, and a very good massage, too! (By Belkis from Susana Day Spa in town.) Gretchen gave us a call to make sure all was well and the house manager checked in several times and took us into town our first day to show us where to shop and some restaurants to try. We were well taken care of on every level. It was a dream come true for me and my husband and we can't wait to return!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I spent a week at the Casita on our honeymoon and it was unforgettable. We rented a car and drove to the Casita from the airport in Puerto Plata, and from the moment we arrived we felt right at home. The grounds are beautiful from the banana trees at the top of the driveway to the private infinity pool overlooking stunning views of the ocean and cliffs in the distance. The Casita has it all, peace and quiet, comfort and total privacy. We slept late and woke to the sound of crashing waves. We spent much of the days soaking up the sun and reading in two lounge chairs by the pool and evenings enjoying a cold drink on the porch playing cards before heading out to dinner. We ate dinner out at local spots in town and made breakfast and lunch in the fully equipped modern kitchen at the Casita. The bathroom is worth mentioning because the shower has the feel of an outdoor shower and the double sinks were a luxury we don’t have at home. There was a friendly groundskeeper on the property 24/7 who took meticulous care of the pool and greeted us as we came and went. We ventured out every day and visited nearby beaches and towns. One afternoon we met some locals at the beach who took us to a women’s softball tournament and on another occasion we got quite a show from a group of local teens jumping off a waterfall into the cold water below. All in all the Casita is the perfect spot for a totally relaxing, peaceful vacation. We left fully rested and refreshed and already looking forward to our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the Casita and didn't want to leave. The real thing was even better than the pictures - the house is beautiful, the grounds are amazing, the view spectacular, and the pool luxurious. The privacy and romance were exactly what we were looking for. If you want to be off the beaten path and away from the tourist traps, this is the place to be. Everything you could need is only a few minutes away in town and the people are very friendly. We so look forward to going back. We stayed in Gretchen's casita for only 4 days but once we arrived, we wish we had booked for the whole week. This was the most beautiful, serene setting I've ever been to. We kept pinching ourselves to make sure we weren't dreaming. We spent tons of time in the infinity pool, overlooking the ocean. We read, golfed at nearby pro golf course, and watched movies. We ventured out to enjoy the town of Cabrera and met many welcoming locals. The fruit and veggies at the local vegetable stand were super fresh! The eggs didn't even need to be refridgerated since the chickens who hatched them were hanging out around the back! We cooked for ourselves every night and had everything we needed right in the casita. I definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking to be off the beaten path and totally disconnect from the world. This is not a resort vacation - it's better! There was tons of privacy, no one to share the pool or atmosphere with except each other. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning again. ps, I also agree that the photos don't do the property justice.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
