During our seven days stay on Maui we lived at the Palm House, a very gorgeous cottage next to Lahaina (10min by car). The view is amazing: in front of you the ocean and behind you the West Maui Mountains. The Palm House is very well furnished: two bedrooms (1 kingsize / 1 queensize), a nice living room with flatscreen & DVD, two bathrooms and a full-equipped kitchen with an amazing view to the ocean. The balcony is very big and includes different seating areas and a BBQ (gas). We enjoyed our stay at this quiet and peaceful place very much. Breakfast at the balcony including whale watching and amazing sunsets at the evening. We came all the way from Germany and are very glad that we found this gorgeous place at Maui. We hope that we will come back one day! Mahalo.

We loved our stay at the Ohana Cottage. It exceeded our expectations. The views are amazing. It is quiet and serene. Each cottage has a lot of room and all the comforts of home. We hope to return next year. We will not stay anywhere else.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the 1BR/1BA. The cottage felt like home right away and provided us with the feeling that we were locals, even if only for a week. If you want to avoid the resorts and time shares this is the place. I regret not staying here for the whole two weeks of our trip to Maui. Jan is very helpful and provided a comprehensive list of what's what in Maui that would rival any hard or soft-bound guide book. It felt as if we didn't just rent a cottage, but that we hired a travel agent! There is fresh fruit on the property that will enhance your stay. Ever made a G&T with a just-picked lime? Jan provided us with more beach toys than we could utilize during our stay. She also called during the first half of our trip to see if there was anything else she could provide. Do not hesitate to stay here!

If you are considering staying on a private property in Maui - West Maui Cottages should be at the top of your list! The homes are just perfect, they have everything you need, the location is fantastic (GREAT neighborhood!) close to town, very private, the list goes on and on! We went with another couple - there were four of us and the 2 bedroom 2 bath was ideal for us. We went deep sea fishing while in Maui and we were able to bring home a ton of fish an make dinner any night we wanted to. It was very relaxing. Jan (the owner) is so accommodating and the experience just couldn't have been any better. Our family of 8 (my husband and myself, his parents, grandparents and brothers) is planning a trip for next year and we will be staying at the West Maui Cottages!!! It feels like our home away from home. :) You will not be disappointed! P.S. The price is the icing on the cake! Nothing else compares! ALOHA!

This is our second trip to Maui, and second time renting from Jan. It was so nice and relaxing being able to return to the same area and owner, and feel so sure that we would be just as happy with our accommodations this year as last. What a view! The house was just perfect for us. The beds were great, the place was tidy, clean and had everything we needed. Its almost like our home away from home. We saw others commenting on the whales, but to be honest, we found it hard to believe you could see much from this far away. As it turned out, I think we almost had a better seat than some on the water. With the extra elevation, the view was just perfect. You can see so far! We might bring a telescope next time, but seriously, we could see flukes and flippers, whale breaching, lots of them blowhole activity, and it was fun watching the various boats chasing around trying to get close to them. The house has air conditioning, but we were more than happy just letting the wonderful breezes blow through. The area is so quiet we had no worries sleeping with the doors and windows wide open - it really was just wonderful. Sitting on the deck and watching the sunset and enjoying the breezes just after sundown was a real treat as well. We went to the top of Haleakala one night to see the stars. They were bigger up there, and well worth the trip, but we could see just about as many from the house - which is far more than we are used to seeing at home. Mahalo Jan. We can hardly wait till we can come back! Shawn

Upon our arrival @ this property, it was exactly as advertised. The location & directions were very accurate. The property was much more attractive & homey than the pictures & description. The owner has paid attention to detail & put much emphasis in making this property very appealing & comfortable. There was 5 people sharing this property,(3BR,3BA) over the course of 9 days,so the layout & space was very important. It is very clean & well maintained. The views, front & rear are spectacular. We spent each morning looking for whale activities, with many sightings to our surprise.Evening activities included cookouts, relaxing conversations, reading & taking in the breath taking sunsets, associated with this property. We met the care takers & had great conversations as well as receiving very useful info for the property, amenities, driving instructions & various activities throughout the island. The owner left detailed info & instructions concerning the use of amenities on the property. The washer & dryer was very useful & convenient. The living room & kitchen were very well laid out, comfortable, useable & spacious. The bathrooms clean & tidy.A couple of times we had questions & the owner was obtainable & replied in a very timely manner. All of members of our family were pleased with their living quarters & use of the facilities. The pricing is affordable & appropriate for the 3BR & 3BA property. During our stay we visited downtown Lahaina for many various activities. We took the road to Hana as our first adventure. Many photographic opportunities made this trip very pleasing. Be careful of the winding road & one lane bridges. We stopped @ many open markets & botanical gardens along our journey. We attended the feast @ Lele's & was thoroughly entertained & enjoyed by all . We dined @ Leilani's & enjoyed the entertainment of Harry & J.D., Beach Bums, Top Cat & Kimos We also strolled & took in the Art & Wine tour in downtown on Friday evening.Other activities included trips to Plantation Resort in Kannapali,Napili Beach, snorkeling & snuba @ Molikini island & crater, Zip Lining @ Eco Adventure & paddle boarding. This property is in a excellent secure & very appealing area. Would recommend to everyone. Enjoyed working with Jan, her expertise & professionalism. Looking forward to returning. Aloha, Joanne, George, Ruth, Sue & Gary

We stayed in the one bedroom/one bath cottage (but would love to come back with friends and stay in the 2 bed/2 bath). It was lovely to be at a vacation destination, and yet return at night to a quiet oasis with incredible views from our own decks. We were very comfortable here.

My husband and I were searching for a place to celebrate our marriage and 40 years of being in love and we couldn't have picked a better more beautiful location than Jan's 2 bedroom ocean cottage on West Maui - it was private and out of the hustle bustle that you usually find in HI - the view was exquisite the location was out of the way but not inconvenient - the cottage was perfect - well stocked with all the amenities that anyone would need. The property was clean and well maintained. One of the most wonderful parts was the balcony or as they say in HI (lanai) it surrounded the whole house 360' and all the windows cranked open and you could feel the wonderful tropical breeze 24/7 - The owner went above and beyond helpfullness in giving us information on the local area attractions and gave us perfect directions from the airport to the property. When we plan another trip to HI, West Maui Cottages will be the first call I make. I have two favorite restaurants that we went to - Mama's Fish House and Feast of LeLe. My husband is a golfer and the property was near several wonderful courses that he enjoyed. I spent a lot of time just sitting on the lanai soaking up the sun and the breathtaking view of the ocean and mountains. The pictures on the web site don't do justice to the actual view that you have - it is awesome !

We loved our accomodations in the one bedroom Ohana at West Maui Cottages. The views were absolutely breathtaking - 360 degrees. Ocean in the front and mountains behind us. The sunsets were spectacular. We tried to get home every evening in time to watch the sun go down while we grilled fresh fish on the lanai. It was heaven. The location in Launiupoko was perfect for us. Lots of privacy, yet a ten-minute drive from Lahaina. We don't usually do the same vacation twice, but we are hoping to go back to this place someday. The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful with information on activities and restaurants, etc. and called us to see if everything was okay. The cottage was well-equipped in the kitchen and beach chairs, mats, and towels were provided for our outings. Some extras that we really appreciated - the laundry area downstairs and the wireless internet. We felt totally at home.

I've been to other islands at other times of the year but, my stay at this cottage on Maui from mid April through mid May 2010 is something (and someplace) I'll want to experience year after year, for as many as possible. Whether a week, a fortnight, a month or more.. this is definitely a great place to stay. You're close to everything yet at the same time... far and away in your own private Hawai'i. The cottage has amazing views, and was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Great restaurants, golfing, ferries to Lanai & Molokai (which by the way are right out your front windows), helicopter tours, Zip lining, surfing and diving are all very close by. Maui offers so much to do and staying here, I felt like I always had a "home" to come back to. Not a busy hotel, a crowded condo etc.. where people are all on top of you but, an honest to God, fire up the B.B.Q., play some music, pour a cocktail, sit on the deck and watch the sunset, home...!!! One last thing... don't pack so much people, there's a washer & dryer (along with supplies) on the premises, save the room (and weight) in your luggage for bringing stuff back. Now at the risk of never again being able to find an open space for staying at the cottage... Call Jan (she's incredible by the way), make your reservation and, enjoy the dream that is Maui.

Thanks Jan for a great vacation. The one bedroom was well equipt for the two of us. Breakfast and BBQ dinners on the deck, the view, it doesnt get any better than this. Your caretakers looked after any needs quickly. We have been to many places over the last twenty years and never the same place twice. This will be the exception. We will be back Al and Jeanne

My husband and I spent 2 weeks in early December 2009 at the wonderful 2/Bedroom, 2/Bath cottage on this amazing property. The views from the wrap around porch and every room are magnificent. The cottage is exactly as portrayed in the VRBO photos and was neat and clean upon our arrival. We loved the privacy of the location and it was amazing to actually "live" in a very upscale Lahaina neighborhood. Within a day we had our routine down, breakfast on the deck, pack a picnic lunch, visit and relax at a different beach every day, then home to refresh ourselves and off to dinner at one of the many in town or barbeque at "home." We wish we could afford to never leave and will definitely rent a West Maui Cottage on our next trip to Maui. Thanks Jan for your kind hospitality.

My husband and I spent our 20th Anniversary at West Maui Cottages and we couldn't imgine staying anywhere else. We travelled all around Maui, but our favorite part of the day was coming back to the cottage and watching the gorgeous sunsets with a bottle of wine. The accommodations were clean and complete. We felt that we were able to see the "real Maui" and see how the locals live, by actually staying in a Maui neighborhood. Our host checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and was a very gracious host. The Maui information she provided was very useful during our stay. The next time we're in Maui, we'll be back to West Maui Cottages!

Jan, Many thanks for the Christmas west Maui cottage visit with all the comforts of home and such a magnificient 360 view. It was a truly beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay outside busy Lahaina. Just the right distance for daily/evening activity, but out of the main stream. We loved whale watching from the deck, the crazy birds and lovely flowers, as well as viewing the fabulous rainbows over the mountains several times daily. We did do some sightseeing and touring Maui and our son took some scuba trips, but the best was just enjoying the views and solitude from the cottage. What a fabulous treat you have there! We certainly DO highly recommend it!!

JAN; OUR RECENT OCTOBER 2008 STAY IN MAUI AT YOUR COTTAGE WAS A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY, THE COTTAGE WAS EXCELLANT, THE VIEW WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFULL SUNSETS. I USUALLY DO NOT CHOOSE TO JUST SIT AROUND MUCH AS I ENJOY BEING BUSY DOING THE BEACHES, SIGHTSEEING AND SO ON BUT ON THIS PARTICULAR VACATION I FOUND THAT FOR A FEW OF THE DAYS I WAS VERY CONTENT TO SIT AND ENJOY THE VIEW AND THE SUN ON THE DECK, BBQ A COUPLES OF MEALS AND JUST SIMPLY RELAX. HOPEFULLY THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN BEFORE I RETIRE JUST TO ENJOY IT ONE MORE TIME. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE LITERATURE YOU SUPPLIED AS IT WAS VERY USEFULL. BRIAN & SHARON CARROLL

ALOHA JAN – We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Maui, and most especially the 3 weeks we spent at your 2B, 2B cottage. It was an ideal place for us to come home to every evening after a busy day AND relax on the deck, barb-b-q, watch the sun set right in front of us over the ocean! It was very neat to see the cruise ships lit up at night & the lights in Lahaina from the deck. We really liked the big kitchen (farm style) and rooms. AND to relax & enjoy the Jacuzzi tub each evening before bed was a special treat for me. AND then to wake up to the sound of birds singing and walk out onto the Lanai with its expansive ocean view & read, eat breakfast and then go for a morning walk in the hills, which we loved. We thank Dale for helping us get booked into any tour our hearts desired, and I can’t thank Marilyn enough for taking us hiking into the Launiupoko Valley behind us. The valley behind us was so beautiful & we had a rainbow almost every day! If we ever return, we would definitely stay there again, as I just can’t say enough good things about it. Again, it was all so beautiful, and we have so many wonderful memories of the island. Mahalo

This was our 8th time to the Islands, but by far, the most beautiful view we've ever had. We were blessed to be able to stay for a whole month at the 2 bedroom west Maui cottage. Everything we needed was there, including wonderful neighbors (Dale and Marilyn). We loved the neighborhood and loved the feeling of privacy that you don't get in a condo...but it was also nice to be so close to Lahaina. I would definitely reccomend this wonderful cottage.

My husband and I stayed here for a week with my son, daughter-in-law and 2 small grandchildren. It was a good size for us, allowing us to be together, but still have private bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped allowing us to visit the local farmers market and prepare many of our meals ourselves, enjoying the fresh pineapple, banana bread and hawaiian coffee. We cooked in the kitchen, or frequently BBQ'd on the deck. Breakfast every morning on the deck, made with farm fresh eggs from Jan's neighbors, then off exploring and returning just in time to watch a beautiful sunset. For a family who doesn't want to do the crowded condo-thing, this is absolutely perfect. Conveniently located, well-stocked, and Jan made sure everything was in good order. I have already recommended the place to friends, and plan to come back ourselves. Thank you Jan! Oh, I should mention we've been home for about two weeks now. The three year old still gets up every morning and asks "Can we go to Hawaii today?"

I agree with another guest in that this cottage over-delivered! I had been to Kauai a more than a dozen trips, and Maui is the new destination of choice, especially knowing this is a such a beautiful place to stay! We were there during the full moon and saw a moonbow from the mountain side of the lanai at night (if you google moonbow you can see more info - I had never heard of it!). The lack of light polution does make the stars extra intense. Taking all that in after the beautiful sunsets was very satisfying. I especially loved how the kitchen was open to the dining and living area, so when we didn't eat out at fabulous restaruants like Sansei, MaLa, and the Plantation House we had an open environment for interaction while I cooked which made it even more enjoyable! In addition to all this was the easy communication with Jan - it felt like renting from Ohana! Nice personal interaction with that genuine spirit of Aloha. We all had a great experience. Soak up the sun, Isn't it fun??? Life is good!!! Git it! K bye And Mahalo.

Unbelievable Views! Thanks for the best vacation ever. The 2 bed cottage had everything we could possible need and we loved the wrap around deck with views of Water and Mountains. The furnishings inside and out were very nice. One of our favorite things was waking up to the many exotic sounds of birds blending with the quite. We were close to town if we needed but we quickly learned the quiet was soothing our senses. The stars at night were breathtaking! The last day we could view a submarine in front of the house. Will return. Mahalo.

Jan, We loved the cottage- the 2 bedroom 2 bath was perfect for the 6 of us. The wrap around porch with the view of the water and the valley was breath taking every time we gazed outside. The wrap around porch truly gave us more space to move about. We ate all of our meals outside-thanks for providing a grill and the patio furniture- it was a perfect set-up. We loved having a massage on the porch with the valley as the backdrop- truly paradise. We only used the tv for background music-thanks for having satellite in case one of the kids got restless....we were very impressed with the neigborhood- as it was so well cared for and quiet. We did not want the hustle and bustle of the city but our drive was still on 5 minutes from Lahaina when we wanted the little city. It was a perfect vacation and the cottage made it so...see you again- will come and use the one-bedroom cottage next time Mahalo and until next time Nickie

My wife, Daphne, our friends Janet and Chris and I are just back from 11 glorious days at West Maui cottage in Launiupoko. After 4 days in a condo in hectic Kihei, this cottage was such a welcome change. It's large and roomy and totally private. It is fully stocked and clean. We took advantage of using the coolers, beach chairs and barbeque quite often. The views are spectacular everywhere you look. We were lucky enough to have a full moon during our stay and to seeing it shining off the water at 3 in the morning was spectacular. We are already talking about a return trip to Maui and hope that West Maui Cottage is the place we will stay.

This place is great! Peaceful, quiet, surrounded by flowering bushes with lots of privacy in an upscale neighborhood. The cottage is well done, roomy, clean, updated, and well stocked with every thing you could need for cooking a gourmet meal, or beach hopping. The only trouble with the wrap around lanai is making the choice on whether to sit gazing at the incredible ocean vista below, or sunbathe while taking in the beautiful mountain range behind. The Milky Way stars at night are also one of a kind! The cottage is big enough for a group get together, or private enough for a quieter getaway. We waited two years for a Christmas booking, and were glad we did! When we finally did get off the porch we enjoyed: the Friday evening art walk in Lahaina, the "adventure" drives to Hana and Kahukola/Kaukini gallery, the Maui Ocean Center jellyfish tank, Big Beach, tennis and golf in Kapalua, and all the amazing sunsets. We felt right at home. Beautiful views including the Milky Way at night since we were away from the city lights. The park at the bottom of the hill is great for small children with its protected sandy beach. We were there for 8 days but can imagine staying much longer. Lahaina is a great town and an easy drive from here. Also can recommend the Chez Paul restaurant which is a short drive in the opposite direction. Maui is small enough that the whole island is easily accessed from here.

We just arrived back from a 6 night stay (5/7-5/13) in Jan's 2-bedroom cottage in Maui and it was awesome! Being up above and away from the main road was very peaceful, and the views were spectacular, especially every evening at sunset. It was just close enough to Lahaina and yet just far enough away. There was plenty to see and do within a 15 minute drive, and the cottage offered a wonderful place to relax after returning from day-long adventures to other parts of this beautiful island! The amenities in the cottage were perfect, and the wrap-around porch was an inviting place to eat breakfast in the morning or dinner in the evening. Having a washer and dryer was great, and there were beach chairs, straw mats, a cooler, etc which came in very handy as well. We actually had the opportunity to spend several days on the North Shore of Oahu before flying out to Maui. We didn't think much could top our stay in Oahu, but Maui came close! The hardest part of the whole trip was getting on that plane and flying back to reality! We can't wait to come back! Aloha, Mahalo, and God Bless.

We just returned from a two-week stay at the Jan's 2-bedroom cottage. What a treat! The home is airy and spacious with unbelievable views (360 degrees). Five adults stayed there very comfortably. Everything that we needed was there including cooler and beach chairs and every kitchen convenience one would need. We found the location to be ideal - close to restaurants, shopping, beaches and an easy ride to other sites on the island. Sunsets, Maui and a beautiful home made for an ideal vacation!

Extremely well appointed and comfortable, everything we could have needed was there (including little touches like coolers). My only "negative" is that is is not really within walking distance of much - even my dad who is an experienced jogger had a tough time with the hill up to the houses! Yes, it is "minutes away" from Lahaina but in a car. Jan was a pleasure to deal with - very professional and efficient and her "Things to do in Maui" document proved invaluable! Would definitely recommend to others!

We stayed at the two bedroom cottage on our third visit to Maui. Previously, we have stayed in a hotel and were disappointed by the noise and the crowds. I found this cottage on the internet and, absolutely, would stay here again. My husband and I were delighted by the entire experience. For just a little more money than we spent at the hotel, we got so much more value. The cottage is situated in a very nice residential neighborhood. It sits on a hill and the view of the ocean is absolutely spectacular. The cottage is just a few minutes drive from Lahaina. It's close to the action but has a definitely country-feel. It is nicely appointed - beautiful wood floors, granite countertops and a 360-degree wrap-around porch. Once I reserved the cottage, Jan, the owner, sent me a very detailed list of things to do in Maui, including tips on where to shop to save money. My husband and I ate most of our meals in the cottage and enjoyed the outside grill and sitting on the porch watching the sunsets. There is a studio apartment beneath the cottage. The tenants were very quiet so that was not an issue at all for us. If you're looking for quiet, privacy, a fantastic view and a great place to stay, you'll find that here.

My husband and I wanted to kick back and relax on our second trip to Maui. This cottage was perfect for doing just that. We had breakfast on the deck watching the sun come up, we were so close to the beach that we would drive there (2 minutes away)and bar-be-que on the beach (a cooler was provided for us), and the breeze that blew through the house at night was wonderful. This will definitely be a place that we will be coming back to time and time again. We were made to feel like this was our home away from home. Thank you so much for all the special things you did to make us feel so special during our stay. Regards, Beverly Anderson

Dear Jan and Steve, Your home couldn't of been more perfect for our family for the 2 weeks we stayed. We loved the rental - it was just as it looked on your web site - both for space and cleanliness!Absolutely incredible - quiet, peaceful and a perfect location! This is the 4th year we have rented homes by owners and yours was exactly as viewed online (others we rented were not all so exact). We loved everything - going to a new beach daily, driving all the way around Hana, rafting/snorkeling with your company, swimming with turtles, shopping,BBQing on the lanai nightly, trying all your restaurant suggestions plus more (our favorites were Sansei,Pacific O's and Okazuya Deli) and finding out the locals things- flea markets, shopping places and just general events - hula lessons, lei making(Kapalua) and surf lessons (Royal Hawaiian - Nick is the best)and we did like the family magic show - much to our surprise. We are already saving/planning for our next visit to your paradise! Thanks again - P.S.Claire really loved walking in your garden and picking papayas, mangos, basil and oranges with you! Sincerely, Audrey,Dave,Emily,Mia and Claire

We are old friends having a big reunion here on Maui. Doing everything, eating and playing everywhere. We stayed in both cottages and had a blast! We watched the most beautiful sunsets every night, we lingered on the deck until well after sunset to enjoy the spectrum of beautiful colors changing through with the light. The best part of our trip was spending time together and sharing memories. I loved the week we spent here! Your cottage is in a wonderful location. We had a truly relaxing vacation, and thanks for the wonderful home!

Thrilling gale force winds one night, birdsong, seclusion, beautiful sunsets, geckos, whales, and a comfy place to lay our heads at the end of a long day. So many wonderful things to do (or not!) - We love your Hawaii. Thanks for helping to make our trip perfect.

Had a great time, but it was TOO SHORT! Thanks for introducing us to diving. We loved the house - nicely appointed and great view - wish it was in Tennessee.

We used both cottages for our family reunion. We had a lovely vacation in your beautiful Hawaii. The cottages served us very well and we certainly enjoyed the whale watching from the huge deck. The weather was perfect as well as the healthy ocean life. Thanks!

Many thanks for the wonderful cottage. All that space was so luxurious and the views were tremendous - it felt like being on top of the world. Thanks also for your support in getting us certified in SCUBA. The only thing wrong was that even 6 weeks weren't long enough!
