Our home is a totally restored 2 story house located in the quaint little town of Rapid City. We are just two miles south of beautiful Torch Lake (recognized as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world) and just 2 miles away from the Torch River Marine where you can access Torch Lake, Lake Skegemog, Elk Lake, and Clam Lake. Not only can you put your boat in at Torch River Marine, you can also arrange for them to store it for you during your visit. They also rent boats and canoes.
Our Township has 7 public access sites near the sand bar of Torch Lake for swimming. The nearby town of Alden (3 miles away) also has a boat ramp and swimming area as well as several unique shops and dining establishments. We are also just minutes away from world class golf courses, vineyards, snow skiing at Shanty Creek or Boyne, snowmobile trail heads (you can snowmobile from our front door), gaming (both live and the table kind), and a host of other activities.
We are only 20 minutes from Traverse City, home of the National Cherry Festival. Travel just a lttle farther to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore which was just voted by GMA as the "Most Beautiful Place in America". Join us for Habor Days in nearby Elk Rapids, the National Morel Mushroom Festival in nearby Boyne City, or the National Trout Festival in Kalkaska. Don't forget about the Fall colors in late September and early October or deer season in November.
The master bedroom has a king size bed and flat panel TV. The large master bath is wheelchair accessible with a roll-in shower. The second bedroom has both a queen and full size bed. The large upstairs bedroom is perfect for kids with 2 full size beds, a futon, and TV. The kitchen and dining room has everything you need for enjoying a meal after a full day of activities. We also have a newly added spacious family room. Our large deck with gas grill is perfect if you don't want to mess up the kitchen; or, you can always walk down to the end of the street to the local ice cream & sandwich grill. Don't forget about our extra large fire pit if you want to roast marshmallows. The house is perfect for 6-8 people who want to be near everything.

This house is an excellent place to stay if you are visiting Torch Lake. It is in Rapid City which is a very small town but it is close to number of towns with more to offer including Alden, Bellaire, Elk Rapids and even Traverse City. There are public docks for boating within a few minutes. There is sufficient area around the house to store the boat at night. The house has plenty of room and modern amenities. Nice TVs with full cable (even HD reception in the living foom). A fire pit for evening fires. A roomy kitchen although the counter space is quite limited. All in all a great place to stay. If you like beer I recommend a trip up to Short's Brewing up in Bellaire, excellent beers and pretty good food too. If you like cajun food go to Pearls in Elk Rapids.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

The house is updated, clean, roomy, and has all the necessities and more. It was convenient to several boat ramps and has parking space out front for the boat. We used the fire pit nightly for smores and dogs! The large yard was great for frisbee and horseshoes. It was great to have the convenience store and ice cream shop at the end of the street, and Freedom park 2 blocks away for fishing in the creek or playing at the playground, and the full size grocery just 5 minutes away. It was an easy drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, and several lakes, but best of all just minutes from Torch Lake. Brought and used our bikes a ton, will rent kayaks next time...and there will be a next time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

This renovated home was very cozy, a value in price, had everything qe needed (even bottled water!) and they rented to us by the day. That was big! Nothing to do/see in Rapid City (it's a one stoplight town at best) but Torch Lake and Alden were 5-8 min away. Save big - stay comfy - and enjoy the lake from this rental!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Great stay in this wonderful home away from home. Very clean and nicely furnished. Kitchen is modern and well equipped. Enjoyed hanging out in the comfortable family room (large screen tv to watch Wimbledon). Liked the proximity to Traverse and other "towns". We didn't have time to use the great firepit....will have to save the smores for our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My boyfriend and I decided last minute to take a drive to Torch Lake and found this quaint property nearby. We were pleasantly surprised with the home with the cleanliness and accomodations it provided for the price we paid. It was close by to Alden, a small town nearby and about 15 minutes away from Bellaire and Elk Rapids. Many public access points to Torch Lake if you are not staying on the lake and bring your boat along with you. We did some research on great restaurants in the area and found quite a few in Elk Rapids: 1. Pearl's New Orleans Kitchen if you're in the mood for some great southern hospitality. Get ready to wait approximately an hour during prime times, but no doubt worth the wait. 2. Siren Hall in town Elk Rapids is a must see....an old firehouse with an modern flaire. An American menu with a limited Michigan wine selection. 3. Lulu's (same owner of Siren Hall) has a french influence and was highly recommended also. We didn't have enough time to experience this restaurant however it sounds like a hit to me. 4. Pastierre Amies of Traverse City is a HIT HIT HIT for breakfast........a beautiful cozy french bistro! I recommend this property for any season and for everybody who wants to enjoy Northern MI. It's close by to Traverse City, just minutes away from the Turtle Creek Casino if you like to gamble.
