Cozy home with all the amenities you may need.

Guest: Christi (Tulare, California)
Date of Stay: 04/01/12 Review Submitted: 04/24/12

We stayed at the "Home Place" April 1-7, 2012. I was very happy with the home, it's older but the owners have updated and decorated it to be very homey. I loved the large dining table where we were able to seat 8 people, it's great to sit down and enjoy meals together and laugh and have fun. As far as kitchen items and other household items you may need, they had it all...... good to know for next time, I can pack a little less. There's even a library of DVD's with kid and family choices. We visited Bryce Canyon, Zion Park and spent 2 additional days trail riding on OHV's. The Home Place is in a great location with easy access to the local sights. I would caution anyone thinking about brings pets, this property is located on a major road (Hwy 89) and there are no fences.

A nice get away

Guest: Houston (Houston, TX)
Date of Stay: 12/29/11 Review Submitted: 01/09/12

Our family of 4 spent a week enjoying this nice home. It had all the amenities (no dishwasher - but not a big deal for us) that we needed and the owners were a pleasure to deal with. Jeremy even gave us some suggestions of paths behind the house to hike up to which was fun. We made day trips from the cabin to both Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National park both of which were about 45 mins-1 hour away and amazing. It's a reasonable drive for the day, and the Homeplace was a great alternative for us to a hotel. We had some concerns with the presence of neighboring dogs while on the property (our kids are not dog lovers) which I made the owner aware of and she did her best to address our concerns immediately which I really appreciated. The home itself was in very good condition for its age, bathrooms renovated and new laundry facilities. I would expect the yard to be especially nice in the summer with so many apple trees in the yard. I would recommend this property to those looking a comfortable, modest lodging between both parks but with a beautiful view all it's own right from the front door.

Visit Novvember 4-7. 2011

Guest: Margi (New York)
Date of Stay: 11/04/11 Review Submitted: 11/10/11

Property pictures were much better than the actual property. There was to be propane and firewood available...not available, and when we called the numbers provided for assistance, three times...no response the entire weekend. We had to drive a distance to find a location open, to provide propane and firewood...and our dinner was ruined because everything was ready to eat, except what was to be cooked on the grill...because there was no propane. Had hoped that this would be an annual destination for our family, but the disappointment in the availability of the owner and/or delegate, we will not be returning. Also, the fire stove in the living area was 'perched' on a stack of bricks that continued to fall on to the floor, they were not secured with any mortar or adhesive. Our 3 year old grandchild had one of the bricks fall out as she was walking by and she fell and landed on the other bricks, tearing up her arm...very dangerous for anyone with children, particularly if the stove had been fired up, she would have fallen into the hot firebox

Owner response:After three years, our first negative review. We now keep an extra propane bottle handy for safe measure. Firewood is kept at the home, or drive one mile south to purchase more. The brick has been secured. As home owners we do our very best to please (as mentioned in other reviews), this two-night stay is not typical of our successful business.

A Great Stay!

Guest: Aaron (Layton, Utah)
Date of Stay: 07/22/11 Review Submitted: 07/25/11

My family and I were looking for a place to stay, while we visited Bryce Canyon for the first time. We did not want to stay in the lodging located in the park or in the lodging located nearby. We found a Vacation Rental called The Homeplace and we loved everything about our stay there. We loved the seclusion and privacy The Homeplace offered, and we were also very impressed with how well kept the home was. We were able to watch DVD's and cook our own meals and spend some quality time together as a family. We highly recommended anyone to stay here.

Great Stay at the Homeplace

Date of Stay: 06/10/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

Six of us greatly enjoyed our stay over a long weekend. It is in a great location for access to both Bryce and Zion National Park. The rooms were all very clean, the barbeque was fantastic and the internet/tv worked great. I would recommend this to familys or friends who want to explore the surrounding areas. Betty always responds promptly to inquiries and the house was really in great shape. Thanks!

Enoyed our stay at the Homestead

The house was well situated between Zion and Bryce. We even day tripped to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. My kids enjoyed running around the big yard, playing with the neighbor dogs and watching the horses across the fence. It was really nice being able to eat breakfast out on the back porch and to roast marshmallows in the fire pit. Loved having a full kitchen (although a dishwasher would have been nice ;-)) and also liked having a full laundry room. It made it easy for us to pack light. Thanks for sharing your house!

We were 2 couples meeting up from Oregon and Wisconsin who wanted to sight-see and visit with each other. We stayed for 4 nites at the Homeplace in early March and visited Zion and Bryce and took another scenic day drive from there...the location was perfect. Because some restaurants were closed, we ate a couple of dinners at the and all breakfasts. The amenities were complete and comfortable. Jeremy and his dad were there immediately when we had questions or needed help with a faucet. We'd happily go back to this neat little house and recommend it to anyone who wants a comfy home-like atmosphere. The Zion Lodge in the national park serves delicious meals.

Wonderful white Thanksgiving vacation!

Guest: Joseph (SJ, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/21/10 Review Submitted: 12/07/10

We had a wonderful time staying in The Homeplace right before Thanksgiving holiday. We caught the "blizzard of the century" with ¾ of Utah under blizzard warning, which drop the temperature to single digit at night, but inside the cabin is warm & cozy with wood stove going, & it also transform The Homeplace into a beautiful white winter wonderland. Both of our dogs had a blast playing in the snow in the front & back yard with new doggie friends from nearby. We spend a beautiful sunny day in fall color covered Zion NP, which is only approx. half hour away, & another partly cloudy day taking pictures & roaming in empty Coral Pink Sand Dune. We literately own the whole Sand Dune by ourselves. Betty and Jeremy is great host, they answered all the questions before & during our stay, & there is everything we need in the cabin for our stay. We already thinking about coming back next year, since we did not get a change to Bryce Canyon, Red Canyon, & Grand Staircase National Monument.

We wanted to get away from the city and couldn't have chosen a better place. Betty & Jeremy where great hosts and gave us the privacy we needed. Betty has done a wonderful job of stocking the place and helped save our dinners as I forgot some crucial things! =) The fireplace was amazing and our dog, Braddah, had the time of his life. Red Canyon and Zion where so close and wonderful to go on walks with our dog. Close to the highway and yet far enough from everything that it allowed you to forget your daily life that we didn't want to leave. 2 nights really just wasn't enough. Absolutely perfect. One of the best getaways we've had even if just for a couple nights.

Great home in a beautiful part of the country!

The Homeplace is a very nice, comfortable home that made an ideal base for exploring the National Parks in the area. Zion and Bryce Canyon were both reached in under an hour and the ride down on 89 from I-70 was an experience in itself. There are many other beautiful state parks and national monuments nearby as well. For the home itself, it combines a sense of history with modern amenities, including an excellent kitchen. The property is very nice, and it was amazing to see all the stars at night, as we live in a city. Thank you, Betty.

Great location with character

Guest: Sheila M. (St. Paul, MN)
Date of Stay: 09/14/10 Review Submitted: 09/30/10

We had a great time in Utah while staying at The Homeplace. We used it as a central location to see Zion, Bryce and Page areas. Prior to arriving, we stayed on the North Rim GCNP itself and actually, if at all possible, would recommend staying there instead of a doing day trip from Glendale. You'd miss too much - esp the wonderful sunsets/sunrises! The Homeplace is a well maintained older farmhouse (1890!) with lots of character. It is close to the primary roadway in the valley but we didn't really hear much traffic noise nor did it prevent us from getting restful sleep. Everything was beautiful but we'd probably recommend the longer mule ride in Bryce, The Narrows hike at Zion, and Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ. Oh and we had a great meal at the Buffalo Bistro our last night - lots of character there as well!

A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE HEART OF MAYNARD DIXON COUNTRY!

What a fabulous little farmhouse with beautiful views of mountains and greenery all around. Beautiful trout pond in your own front yard! The location can't be beat! Centered between Zion & Bryce National Parks, up the road from artist Maynard Dixon's summer home in Mt. Carmel and a short drive to Knabe where the Western Cowboy Round-up is held every year at the end of August and minutes from the great pet rescue facility,Dog Town that is seen on the National Geographic Channel. Orderville is also close by with great rock shops. Utah has the best rocks! The farmhouse has a cozy kitchen with a huge dining room table which was perfect for setting up the computer & printer still getting our business done while away from home. The bed in the master was very comfortable and we slept extremely well during our stay. We highly recommend this place for it's ambience, location, comfort & value and it's great landlords! One last thing, our dogs Tucker & Trapper had a great time too!

Excellent location, price, and service!

Guest: Family of 6 (Massachusetts)
Date of Stay: 08/14/10 Review Submitted: 08/27/10

My family of 6 stayed here with plenty of room to spare. The house was very clean, and included a lot of extras such as paper products, linens, laundry detergent, pots/pans/utensils, cleaning products, etc, just like you were at home! Tucked away about midway between Bryce & Zion (time-wise, esp with Zion construction), with beautiful pasture land and hills around you. Not to mention the price for an entire house was very reasonable, and the owners were great to deal with and responsive to emails when planning. We even got our deposit back within a few days of departure! This was a great stay all around and we would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area! This place is fit for anyone who is looking to escape from reality and congestion and really enjoy the beauty our country has to offer!

My family couldn't have been more comfortable... Enough beds to fit our family of 7 and room to spare. Laundry facilities that I wanted to take home with me! DVD's and a huge TV were a huge hit after spending the day outside enjoying the land we came home to roast hot dogs and marshmellows and watch a few movies! Owners make you incredibly comfortable! My children voted the last day we were there to cancel our plans and just hang out on the property! The paddle boat, canoe, and one man fishing boat were a huge hit and the property came with all the life jackets you need to enjoy without worry! Kitchen was incredibly stocked right down to ice trays filled so I could pack a cooler and not stop for ice. This property had everything! I want to tell you not to stay here so it will be available the next time we want it but that isn't right ;) We WILL be back! Beautiful area, beautiful weather! By the way... I traveled with my 1 year old and the house was pretty baby proof!

Our stay at "The Homeplace" was absolutely wonderful. We were welcomed with open arms, and felt so at home during our stay. I would recommend "The Homeplace" to anyone visiting Zion Nat'l Park, Bryce Canyon or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. The location was very convenient. As we are animal lovers, we loved being close to the horses, and the visits from Tip the dog. We all wanted to take her home with us. This is a great place for children as there is lots of fun things for them to do. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely home with us.

My husband & I stayed with our 3 teenagers in June 2010. The location is perfect for Zion & Bryce day trips. The house is an old farm house, which of course is not perfect like a new house would be. But we like old houses and this one has been quite comfortably updated (great appliances & laundry too), is very well stocked, and family friendly. The owners were very pleasant & helpful but allowed us privacy as well. We would go back in an instant (no regrets)!

we had a family reunion at the Homeplace and everybody had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the somewhat cool nights around the fire out back. The location is also a plus (close to Zion, Bryce and Glen Canyon, even Grand Canyon). The owners were very helpful, gave us some helpful tips and answered all my questions. Also a pet friendly place, it was great to be able to take our dogs. The place is very clean and well maintained. I would recommend the Homeplace to friends and family and I would come back myself. Thank you for a great vacation.

My wife and I and three girls 5 and under spent a week at the Homeplace in May 2010. The property is very well located for visits to national parks. It's especially close to Zion and an easy day trip to Bryce Canyon and Pipe Spring in AZ. We also day tripped to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, which I probably would not recommend unless you can start very early. Kanab, Utah, 25 miles south, provides a good location for restaurants, shopping, etc., with some smaller options in Glendale and Orderville, both of which are minutes from the house. The immediate surroundings are beautiful. There is a great city playground in Glendale just a few minutes from the house. The house was very clean, well stocked with towels, etc., well furnished, and the kitchen was the best stocked of any vacation rental we've had, including some staples like flour, salt, and oil. The beds were very comfortable. The only drawback for us was the yard. Most of our previous vacation rentals had large yards where the kids could run and play. The Homeplace is right on Route 89 and there isn't a lot of space for young kids to play outside. But this might not be a big drawback for some. There is a basketball court for older kids and a nice patio (with grill) for outdoor dining. We would certainly return again and highly recommend the property!

Cozy Home between two of America's most beautiful parks/canyons

Guest: Ushi&Gus (Sarasota, Florida)
Date of Stay: 05/03/10 Review Submitted: 05/13/10

We stayed a whole week and hated to leave. We felt like at home, only better. The location of this home to travel to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park is perfect. We rested between these tours and enjoyed the comfortable beds, the fully equipped kitchen, the fireplace, the outdoor furniture and washed our laundry from our trip before in one of the best washing machines I ever used. We called the houose our "Base Camp" and after shopping for groceries in Cedar City we prepared delicious meals. The owners are very friendly and helpful people. No question asked was left unanswered. They do care that you enjoy your stay. The house was very clean and we will recommend this house to all our friends visiting this area. The photos we saw before don't do this house justice. It is much nicer in reality. Facit: Absolutely no regrets choosing The Homeplace for our one-week vacation.

The Homeplace is a charming ancestral home in a lovely rural area. It is very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable with lots of space. Our 4-year old loved exploring the property (with swings, fishing at the pond, and watching the horses and goats she rarely played with the toys she brought. When asked where she would like to go for the day, the answer was always "nowhere, I want to stay here and play at the house"). The owners are very helpful and readily available by phone/e-mail. It is closely situated to Bryce and Zion; also be sure to explore the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. We would certainly recommend this property to friends/relatives.

I loved our stay at the Homeplace. With 5 young kids and a dog most motels are out of the question. The location of the Homeplace allowed us to enjoy Lake Powell, Zion's National Park and the Coral Pink Sand Dunes as well as other local spots like the Moqui Cave. It was wonderful to have the space inside and out to relax and enjoy. The pond, fruit orchards, and basketball court were excellent. It was hard to go home. Thank you!!

A great week-end escape and close to Zion, and far enough from the traffic of the Park. The cabin is cozy, nicely decorated, and well equipped. Great place for kids to run and play. We discovered Moqui Caves down the road, and learned the history of Orderville, the host of the caves was a wealth of knowledge, well worth the $5.00 fee. The distant clang of the neighbors goats' bell was a soothing sound. Definatley relaxing and worth the money. Tamra, Gabe, Garrick, Noah & Sheila

My friends and i decided to have a non-traditional Christmas this year, so we booked the house with the intent of spending time At Bryce and Zion. We had snow at Bryce and sunny skies at Zion, the house was a great place to use as a base for all of our activities. It was nice to be able to come back and cook and hang out. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedrooms all have very nice sheets, bedspreads and comfortable beds. We stayed warm with the use of the free standing wood burning stove. (we could've used more kindling) . We did travel with a dog and the property does sit next to a highway so we did not let her out alone. There was no cell service however the Chamberlains have a rotary phone available to use with a calling card...but who has those? So when we did have service on our way to the parks we gave people the number so they could call us and that worked out well....(for all those Christmas morning calls) I would stay here again and have recommended it to others. It was a great value and very lovely non traditional Christmas!

Very nice place

Guest: Kalpana and Aravind (Chandler, AZ)
Date of Stay: 11/26/09 Review Submitted: 04/01/10

The Homeplace was quite charming and well located between Bryce and Zion national parks. The home itself was quite clean, spacious and well-maintained. The kitchen was pretty well equipped for us to cook. There was a fireplace in the hall and unfortunately none of us had operated the fireplace and hence we did not know how to operate it and since some the hall and lower bedrooms depended on the fireplace for heat, it was a bit cold initially. Later the owner stopped by and showed us how to use it and after that it was pretty easy. :) The owners were quite friendly and helpful. One problem we had when we arrived was that we couldn't make out which was the homeplace since we arrived well after dark and there were no signs. A sign would have saved us some time! All in all we had a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Owner response:The Homeplace is now equipped with an excellent, brand-new furnace that heats the entire home wonderfully. The installation was completed the winter of 2010, it is fantastic! Some renters still take advantage of the fireplace and the electric wall heat as they choose. We are now proud to have a beautiful sign marking our property. We continue to fine tune and improve the entrance so that arriving after dark is easier. Thank you to our many optimistic and patient guests who had lovely stays at our home despite these recent improvements.
