Casakoolba means the house of letting-go, a name created by putting two words together, one spanish, one mayan. It is a place where worries and pressures can disappear,.being so close to the magnificent Caribbean with its exquisite colours and lovely breezes. Casakoolba offers a warm time-out-of-time to any visitor. The house is quite open; designed as it is to catch the lovely almost constant breezes that characterize this area, the house can however be safely secured when desired. A visitor feels very close to the elements here. It is a perfect place for small families or groups who want a direct experience of the beauty and tranquility that is still the hallmark of Bahia Soliman.
Emanuel, the caretaker at Casakoolba makes visitors feel at home, answers their needs, and ensures security - he also cooks like a dream! Maricarmen Cerda, the house manager takes care of all financial matters for guests while in Mexico and can answer any and all questions in English.
Testimonials from our guests:

We LOVED our stay at Casakoolba. The house was perfect for us. We cooked almost all of our meals in, and enjoyed them on the porch (you will need to bring condiments/cooking oil etc. but the kitchen is otherwise well equipped). The table seats 4-5 comfortably, and we were 6 adults and a child, but we managed just fine with the help of the coffee table. The bay is beyond compare. We made excursions to Yal Ku and Akumal to snorkel, and both times came back and wondered why we left. Soliman Bay has as much if not more to offer snorkelers and swimmers than the other better known spots. The kayak is also a wonderful asset. Another asset is the sweet and talented Emanuel. He cooked our "Thanksgiving" dinner for us, and it was one of the best meals we had in Mexico. There are some really beautiful places on Soliman Bay, but if I could return and choose any of them, I would choose Casakoolba hands down. I would also note that the owner is very kind, very responsive, and wonderfully laid back. She was a pleasure to deal with.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

There is something about Casa Koolba... the house just seems to emanate peace and joy. The highlight is the wrap around porch set back from the beach by a 'yard' of lovely palm trees- a nice privacy screen and a block for the winds at night. We loved how so much of the house is open to the sea, and the shutters and huge doors open up to let in so much breeze. That with all the pretty ceiling fans kept the place nice and cool without yucky AC. The house is not pretentious at all- homey rustic Mexican ambience with gorgeous wood floors- but perhaps not for those seeking designer luxury. For us however, it was 'our kind' of 5 star! We appreciated the low key but attentive house-keeping by the sweet and helpful Emanuel- linens changed daily, and we loved that the 'our' beach was raked each day (for our tender Seattle barefeet!). We noticed other beachfronts further down the beach were not cleaned up at all (and these were the luxury properties!) so we really appreciated this. We also noticed that in front of our house, there was a lovely path cut in the turtle grass in the shallow water which was perfect place for our toddler to play. We also were grateful for the kayaks, life vests and snorkel gear. But ultimately, it is hard to express how relaxing and lovely and low-key this 'home' away from home is. Thank you Casa Koolba, we really enjoyed letting go!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

This was the most lovely beach house... Excellent location, clean, beautiful... The beach was fantastic, we used the kayak everyday, snorkeled, swam, gathered shells, walked the beach. My daughter loved the "community dogs". Just Wonderful - Thank you for such a fantastic house!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
