Beautiful architectural house designed by famed architect Jacques Couelle, set in a unique location in the hills overlooking Mougins and Cannes.
Built in the late 50s for a prominent international investor (who was also an investor in the domaine and who later on developed Porto Cervo in Sardinia with Couelle, a private domaine along the same architectural style as Castellaras), the house has been with the 2nd owner for the past 36 years.
It is located in the very exclusive, private domaine of Castellaras; eighty houses set around a medieval castle (rebuilt by Couelle in the 1930s) share over 20 hectares of communal natural landscape peppered by olive trees (not one of which was cut down by Couelle for the construction of the villas).
Castellaras is located just 25 minutes from the Nice airport off of the A8, the main Riviera motorway and 20 minutes away from the center of Cannes.
There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, dining room and 2 terraces for outdoor dining, as well as a private tower terrace for sunbathing.
The house is located on the highest point just beneath the Chateau and therefore has a commanding 180-degree view facing south on the countryside and the hills, with the sea in the distance.
All the bedrooms are equipped with modern air conditioning units. The house is tastefully furnished and has been in use as a secondary residence by the current owners. This is the first time it is available for rent.
The Domaine is security guarded 24 hours a day, has 5 tennis courts (4 hard courts and 1 clay court) and 2 pools. One pool is huge as one part slopes like a beach, and the other area is good for actual swimming and is open in the summertime when there is also a lifeguard on duty.
The second pool is located at the Chateau and reserved for adults (over 15 years old). The Chateau pool has magnificent views over the countryside and sea beyond. It also has a restaurant. The château is very picturesque and has rooms for rent if needed for guests. |
