Private sandy beach is just 15 steps from your front door. The sand is a special soft quality that rivals the best of the islands. This home was renovated in 2008, and has tile floors, wood interior, ceiling fans, new windows, kitchen, and baths. Master bedroom has expansive views facing the expansive East and South exposure for early sunrises over Lake Michigan and majestic colorful sunsets (no Squinting!).
Combination small living room and dining room inspires guest interaction and happy memories. Living area has large East facing floor-to-ceiling windows. High speed Hughes internet, and cable TV make this home a cozy retreat in any weather and in any season.
Fine and casual dining is available in Sheboygan and Kohler. Golf at Whistling Straits, Blackwolf Run, The Bull, The Bog, and more! Indoor water park in Sheboygan. Three State Parks are in the area: Kohler Andre, Harrington Beach, and Kettle Moraine are nearby. In the winter, Cross-country ski along Lake Michigan shoreline. Some mountain bikers ride the shore line in the winter.
Upscale shopping and antique shops within 15 minutes, Road America, bike trails, and Lake Michigan fishing charters are all also nearby.
Have a fire on the beach and go to sleep listening to the sounds of waves. Enjoy beautiful sun rises and incredible moon rises from your deck. Walk the flat tranquil beach for miles in each direction. Build sand castles and have fires on the beach. Enjoy the serenity of your private beach. Cook and dine outside on deck several dozen yards from the lake. Relax with that first cup of coffee as the sun rises over the Lake. Approximately 60-70% of people who rent this home return the following year. The property has two full (but small) bathrooms (showers only) and three bedrooms.
One bedroom faces the lake and has a King bed. The second bedroom is located on the North side of the house has a small view of the lake and trees, has a Queen bed while the third bedroom has two twin beds, side-by-side, and a view of the backyard woods. In 2011, this home was featured on the Travel Wisconsin web site and is one of the nicest beach homes available for rent in the Oostburg area. At present I am reconsidering dogs guests. It is necessary for me to maintain good relations with my wonderful neighbors and some guests have not been as considerate of the property as is required. If there are dog guests, there is a strict limit of 2 'guest' dogs on the property that we must insist on during your stay. If you bring 2 dogs, and you invite friends to visit, they may not bring their dogs to visit. All dogs must be listed in the pet addendum, have current vet papers. weigh less than 50 pounds and be of good personality, have tidy owners.

Paradise in Wisconsin?!
Paradise in Wisconsin?!

Who ever imagined laying on a beach in WI could be so beautiful?! With the the soft, warm sand between your toes, and the sun reflecting off the blue/green waters and white capped waves, you'd almost swear you were on an ocean beach vacation! Only difference is, the beach here is peaceful and un-crowded, and at times YOU will be the only one on the beach...niiiice! And the beach house inself? Oh, the beach house is magnifique! The brand new, immaculate ( and I mean immaculate!!) kitchen is amazing, with it's beautiful, sparkling granite counter tops and unique pretty stone/tile work adorning the walls. Not to mention the beautiful, wood cabinetry-no expense spared in this home! Speaking of woodwork, the whole house has the most gorgeous, new, woodwork, and smells so nice too! The brand new looking bathrooms are also very clean, with the same pretty tile work that's in the kitchen. Let me say, I'm kind of a clean freak , lol, and I've stayed in a few beach rentals in my time, but NEVER one as spotless as this one, or even close to it! From it's homey feel, yet totally updated, to the comfy new bedroom furniture, lavished in high quality , plush bedding, I wouldn't change a thing about this place! Now lets talk about the picture window views from the living room, dining room and master bedroom- WOW!! Once again, you forget you're not looking out at the wonderous ocean. And the sunrises are to die for and definitely worth getting up at the wee hours of the morning to see! ( great photo ops! ) So take a hot cup of coffee out onto the the spacious deck, and enjoying the breath taking view! The owner is great too! Very friendly and helpful , alway getting back to you immediately in case you have any questions. You don't want to miss a vacation at THIS beach house! Would give it 10 stars if I could! ;-)Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We rented this house with another couple for a long winter weekend get away. We were impressed with the house, the accomodations (everything is there that you will need for the kitchen and linnens) and the beautiful location. The pictures do not do the house justice - it's been refinished very nicely and is very cozy. There are stunning lake views from most rooms in the house and a nicely wooded lot. It was great to have the house directly on the beach...even in the winter, we were able to take long walks admiring other houses and passing neighors walking and bicyclist. Oostburg is a cute little town with pizza that delivers and Kohler is just a short drive away with nice restaurants and shops. The house also had cable tv and wireless internet. I would highly recommend a stay here. Note: Oostburg has well-water, so you may want to bring bottled if you do not like drinking well-water.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We have just returned from our third stay at this property, it just keeps getting better. The listing and pictures are accurate, but don't do the property justice. The home is always very clean and well maintained. The owner is great about responding to questions or concerns. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends. The lake views and sunrises can't be beat. Lots of great restaurants within a short drive. Judi's in Oostburg is a great breakfast/lunch spot. Any of the Kohler restaurants are a can't miss, along with the Villager in Sheboygan Falls for dinners. Must try hard rolls and peanut squares from City bakery in Sheboygan. Always lots to do, but check things out before you arrive to plan activities. We use VRBO frequently, this property is at the top of our list.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed here in late September. Even though it was cold, the weather was gorgeous, and it was so relaxing listening to the waves so close to the house. The property is well stocked with towels, blankets, comfy beds, and all the cooking accessories we needed. It was spacious enough for four adults and two dogs, and the Village of Oostburg provided all the essentials we were looking for. This is a great house in a beautiful setting!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The pictures of this place only begin to do it justice. The home was obviously renovated with care, and sparing no expense. The sand was remarkably soft and plush. The views from inside the home and out were breath-taking. With the abundant seagrass dotting the beach, at times we thought we were in Nantuckett. And with the lake waters being so clear and crystal blue, at other times you think you're on a Caribbean beach somewhere. Frankly, I didn't know that Wisconsin had such gorgeous beaches. The fact that this one is remotely located and quiet makes it one to remember. I highly recommend this place. It's worth every penny. And to top it all off, the Apple fritters at the Oostburg bakery are to die for. We went every morning, as we couldn't stay away!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

I had booked this mini getaway for our 5 year wedding anniversary 4 months prior to. However, near the big vacation day, the everyday routine of life began to take it's toll. We still went ahead as planned & went in with an open mind. WOW Quality time could never be so sweet. Walks along the beach, romantic candlelight dinners, watching & hearing the waves hit the shore, breakfast on the deck and bikeriding the trails with the beautiful fall leaves showed us how to "breathe" again. This beachhouse saved our marriage!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Lake Michigan has been at our back down our entire lives and not until we visited Oostburg and this wonderful home did we begin to appreciate what a wonderful asset we have nearby. A beautiful September week with wonderful accomodations were topped only by the friends and family we were able to share the experience with. No more 17 hour car rides to Florida's Panhandle or the Rockies.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: I enjoy this special area in all seasons. The delightful area, environment and local people consistently bring a smile to my face. I enjoy driving on the nearby roads and seeing cows, green fields, harvesting crops, a slower pace. I am content with reading and walking on the beach, watching the waves and the variety of birds. I enjoy the peaceful cozy house with its ever changing extraordinary views. The seagulls are busy during the days and the Canadian honkers are fun to watch. I grew up in parts of Michigan and central Illinois so the connection to the farming community is special for me. The air seems cleaner. The beauty in all seasons is captivating. I have only had 2 guests in my home over the past 20 years who were not mesmerized by the Lake. Life can be hectic and I am certain to feel relaxed, tranquil and peaceful here no matter what the season.
Why the Owner Chose Oostburg:
I am in love with this property and the area. It offers me a respite from the cares of life and for over 20 years has been my most favorite place of all considering those that are available at any location and at any price. I like the quiet, the woods, the sand and sun. I find that the property and location are unbeatable for ease of access, opportunity to get 'away from it all' at a fair price, chances to spend time indoors or out, visit with friends or family and make happy memories.
The attraction of the lake is fairly obvious. One of the unexpected benefits is walking North and South on Cardinal Lane. The dirt wooded Lane is gorgeous in any season and shaded by a variety of trees and ferns. The area is quiet, peaceful, with an easy access location, lightly populated, with lovely neighbors. There are private woods in the back area (which are not accessible without prior permission,) but add to the feeling of being far away from the urban jungle.
The waves can be a soothing, or exciting view and change almost daily in intensity and appearance. Differing wildlife comes to drink and bathe in the Lake.
I enjoy the feeling of closeness in a smaller living space. The proximity to the Lake is the best of any property for rent.
I like the ease of access. It is located approximately 1 mile from Rt. 43. Two exits away to large stores and major conveniences. Three exits North to Kohler, movies, East to the Boardwalk at Sheboygan Harbor.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The sand is blondish-white and is comprised of fine granules. No rocks hiding under the water, and no swampy mud bottom on this part of the Lake. The water quality and temperature varies, but at times the water is crystal clear and sparkles like diamonds in the sun, with a gently sloping smooth sandy bottom. Easy accessibility by vehicle, quiet, peaceful, no hassles with elevators and doormen. In the delightful town of Oostburg, no stoplights, all amenities, (but closed Sunday,) so shop ahead. Charming hardware store, food market, DVD's for rent, Laundromat from 7-9, the most wonderful Bakery, the Oostburg Bakery, but visit early as it closes early. Familiar Big city stores are 15 min. away if you are so inclined. Shopping is less painful in Wisconsin with the 5% Sales tax! The house is comfortable and cozy. The layout of the rooms and deck invite 'together' or peaceful 'alone' time depending on your preference. There is a collection of family board games in the closet. Stargazing on clear nights and fires on your beach create a unique environment for your traveling enjoyment.
It seems an easy transition from peaceful easy beach life to fine dining in Sheboygan. Kohler offers high-end shopping and superb treatments for men and women at the $7 Million Spa at Kohler.
Kohler also offers packages for spa treatments with dining and gift certificates for WoodLake Shops. Check with the American Club directly. Some offerings are reasonable and staying at the American Club is not necessary to participate.
