we spent a lovely time at this ashland home--we were welcomed with wine, cheese and crackers, and spent our time at the plays, reading and playing music in the backyard, on long walks, and eating each meal outside at the garden table. it is a 20 minute walk to downtown, and the walk home from a play, under the starry sky is lovely. absolutely no problems or issues--a perfect home. we had 2 couples and 3 adult children in the home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family and I loved staying at this "Gorgeous Vintage Home." It truly is gorgeous, creatively remodeled, and graciously furnished. The rooms are large and comfortable, with comfy chairs & beds. Breakfasts outside on the patio with the waterfall in the background surrounded by lovely flowers was a delight, and I could have spent all afternoon on the porch looking out at the mountains. Everything was immaculate and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed. Our family felt so lucky to be able to enjoy this wonderful place and hope to return.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This home is spacious, beautiful and clean - a real gem with it's own personality. A great place for a family or several couples. The architecture of this vintage 3-story home is wonderful with large rooms throughout, sitting porches, french doors to bring in the beautiful outdoors, and a wonderful garden patio with a fountain. The fixtures in all the bathrooms have been updated, the hardwood floors are beautiful, and the master bedroom's 4-post bed, giant shower and luxurious soaking tub divine. Even more enjoyable is the original artwork throughout the house - every room is decorated with color, and every wall hung with the owner's beautiful art. We cooked family meals in the enormous kitchen all updated with marble countertops and a subzero frig. The dining room has a huge table perfect for gathering around or playing games, as well as a lounging nook perfect for naps or a good book. The living room is spacious with 2 couches, and has a TV and DVD player with lots of movies to choose from. The extra half bath on the main floor was wonderful to have. There are 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor - the master, and 2 other each with queen beds. There is a large bathroom in the master bedroom, and a full bathroom in the hall for the other rooms to share. The 3rd floor has a landing with a queen size futon, and a bedroom with a queen bed - so much room, we didn't even use the 3rd floor! The owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. There were even welcome treats on the counter when we arrived. It is in a great location on the west side of the main street, just up the hill a bit. We drove into the hub of town, parked for free and tooled around each day. We definitely recommend this property!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful and exquisite time in this beautiful home through Christmas time. It confirmed that this is the area we want to be living and have a family. The garden & old trees and the near hiking paths, the peacefulness... is what we were needing to get us through the changes that we were about to make in our lives- this is a very nurturing home, with original art and wonderful colors. I'm sure most people (if not all) will agree that it is a delightful home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I brought my family here and we thoroughly enjoyed this house ; the art , the decor, the views and the quiet privacy. It was very inspiring for us all , especially for our daughter who is interested in majoring in art. We had a great stay at this wonderful home where we've now stayed on several occasions. The decor is wonderfully artistic, bohemian and cozy all in one. I loved the art work on the walls and purchased a piece that I was drawn to. You may find yourself doing the same ! The location is an easy walk to downtown and theaters and when we wished to be away from it all , the house provided a very private setting. The water fall in the patio is a great place to have breakfast ( delight in the sunshine), or enjoy a nice dinner and a glass of Southern Oregon wine while listening to the crickets sing-free of charge !Did you find this review helpful? My boyfriend and I decided to visit the Ashland area and stumbled upon this charming victorian house close to town. Needless to say, this is one of the most amazing houses I have ever stayed at! The inside of the house is covered with amazing art/decor and was very cozy and comfortable. Incredibly clean and well maintained. I marveled that this historic house is in the shape that it is. The architecture and conditions are impeccable and we really enjoyed talking with our hostess about its significance and history in the community. The outside area is breathtaking! It is whimsical in the way the trees, plants and flowers are set. The waterfall area offers a calm and relaxing place to sit along with the redwood trees. The woman who owns the house is a wonderful soul and we look forward to keeping in touch with her in the future. You can walk to town and we spent many days checking out charming Ashland. Very close to the library, restaurants, theater and Lithia Park. Hiking trails are located right behind the house. We were able to see every possible side of Ashland that there is to offer. This house is a steal in regards to ambiance and location. We will definitely be back and plan on bringing friends and family with us next time! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Please say hello to John and Nicole. It was a sweet overlap and it worked out like a gem - you've made great new friends !

About the owner: We've lived here for 23 years and it's been a joy and blessing. This house is a wonderful home and a creative environment . Most of all the art work you see was created here in this home and studio. Over the years I 've had many offers to buy this house, BUT...It's still a place we call home as we are still here quite a large part of the time. My daughter and I love this home, the trees, & garden. Sharing this house has brought many smiling faces and it's been a good & sweet-experience all around thus far. The house is large and now others get to enjoy it as well. I've had the pleasure of meeting some lovely people. Right now, I'm working on a children's book ,and when it's time ,I love planting flowers , working on various projects outdoors. The garden should have lots of colors by the time you arrive.(!) So, relax, read, write, or just bask in the sun. You'll be inspired as you enjoy the art in the house & the theater , and exploring the unique natural surroundings of this sweet town. Happy Winter,Spring, Summer and Fall !
Why the Owner Chose Ashland:
This is a house I fell in love with at first sight. The redwood trees , views and tranquil atmosphere are such an important part of this property. The garden is large considering we are right in town. It's quite an oasis. The waterfall ( looks as though it was brought from an old Chateau but the beautiful 100 yr old stones are are from an Ashland quary. the patio is a delight, especially at night under the twinkling lights & lanterns... and the sound of water fall. It's quiet being surrounded by so many older trees.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is very unique in that it has beautiful views from every window and there are many windows, and french doors that face either the garden or the mountains.
There is plenty of light and I love having house plants ( though it takes more work- it's home away form home!)
The sheets and bedding are organic cotton,(400 count)
all natural materials.Cleaning products are all earth friendly.
It's an easy and pleasant walk downtown.
It's very peaceful and serene. It feels you could be any where in the world, there's a timeless feel to this wonderful property. There are many nooks and corners to explore. Under the redwood trees is one place to be,
the porch is another, and of course the reading corner-and yes, there is a pretty substantial library if you forgot to bring something good to read.
( On a rainy day ... there are a lot of videos to choose from if you really want to feel at home)
