The cabin was absolutely gorgeous. We didn't have much time to spend in the house but it was very accommodating. Also an extremely good price for what you get. We only had two problems. First was finding the place. Once you get back on the dirt roads things are not marked well. Especially to get to the actual cabin. The number for the cabin to go down the hill is hidden on a tree. The other issue is that amount of things you need to do in the house before the check out time. Doing the stuff isn't that big of a deal but to do it all before 10 am was a little difficult and rushed. Otherwise would absolutely recommend staying there. The owner was very nice and helpful also.
Owner response:Glad you found the house very accommadating and you enjoyed your trip! You are correct that traveling down the dirt road initially is a little confusing but the end is paradise. We thank you for your feedback and understand it is difficult to have towels washed and dried before leaving; therefore, we have been very lenient and waive this requirement when renters inquire. Hope you had a safe trip home.

What a beautiful property this cabin sits on. The pictures were accurate. Clean, comfy and cozy! Our teenagers enjoyed the game room so much we had a tuff time getting them out of the cabin. We all enjoyed the trails on your property for our morning walks and so did our Cavaliers, Cooper & Sophie. It was great to have the owner call us and give us so much accurate information on what to expect. And the handbook and local business, activities, restaurant, etc., brochures were so helpful in us planning our week. Hiking at Chimney Rock, white water rafting with Huck Finn Rafting (favorite), dining and sightseeing in Ashville (Tupelo Honey) was all part of our perfect get-away weekend. And the one day of rain n fog was perfect for hanging out with the family and playing board games (a whole closet of games) and air hockey and football competitions among the family. Plan on coming back!
Owner response:Glad you enjoy your vacation and especially glad that your family and pets enjoyed our trails on the property for your morning walks. We added new trails this year and it has been a big hit! We appreciate our guests feedback and will continue to make improvements.

I have been a little gun shy to find vacation properties on the internet due to some bad past experiences, but this place was definitely all the photos show and more. There was a beautiful, twisty drive into the mountains, but you were only 10 minutes from the town of Black Mountain which had quaint shops and great restaurants. A 30 to 40 minute drive in any direction brought you to a wealth of outdoor activities (amazing hiking, biking, horseback riding, rafting) and more cultured activities in Asheville (Biltmore estate, galleries, museums). My teenagers loved the stream and pond on the property as well as the campfire pit and game room. A great get away for any family.
Owner response:We are glad your family enjoyed the vacation! Western NC is heavan for hikes and waterfalls and outdoor activities.

This place is terrific! The hosts have thought of every detail when it comes to hospitality right down to the bottle of wine wating for us on the table as we arrived. My kids loved the game room and the fireplace. We enjoyed exploring the property and hiking Lawrence, Brittany, Mitchell, and Dani's trails. The best part of the trip for me was sitting on the balcony cooking on a grill that looked clean and brand new with my cigar and that bottle of wine just looking at the views. Only a 15-20 minute drive to Asheville so you can experience "Beer City USA."
Owner response:We have recently added trails so we now have 4 trails in all. Glad your family enjoyed the leisure hiking on the property.

Incredible Place! The pictures and description don't describe how wonderful it really is. We spent a relaxing 5 days with our kids and dog and loved every minute of it. It has all the comforts of home in an incredible location. The owners went out of their way to make it a special place. The home is immaculate, and they even had a Christmas Tree all decorated for us to enjoy Christmas. The book they have at the house gives you wonderful options of things to see and places to eat. We went expecting to spend most of our time in Asheville, but found the town of Black Mountain had everything we were looking for--great hikes, quaint shops and incredible restaurants. The dog loved the trails and the hikes and we had a time to relax, escape the chaos of daily life and enjoy our family. We will recommend this place to others and will be back once my husband returns from yet another deployment. This is a place you dont want to miss!
Owner response:Happy New Year! We are glad your family enjoyed the Christmas Holidays in our cabin. We wish him a safe deployment and look forward to having you back.

We wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle and this home on black mountain was the perfect choice gor our family and even our family dog. The home is full of every amenity that you might need to a full kitchen, plush towels, extra blankets, plenty of games and videos for your entertainment pleasure. You can end your evening grilling out on the large deck with rocking chairs, picnic table and a long leisurely soak in the hot tub enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Even though, you are away from big city, the property is very close to Asheville and many activities to enjoy. We highly recommend this home without reservations! Our family can't wait to return!!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a getaway weekend and while I was excited about the place from all of the pictures, somehow they still don't do the place justice - it is more beautiful in person! The owners made every last consideration from the furniture to the decorations and appliances. It is high luxury in the mountains! The trails on the property were well marked and beautiful too. We enjoyed taking our two dogs on hikes and starting and finishing our days in the hot tub. We'll be back again!
Owner response:Yes, we added more trails around the creek this year and it has been a big hit! Thanks for your feedback.

We absolutely loved our stay at Highrock Preserve and were all impressed with how well the cabin was appointed. The property overall was perfect for our group (4 adults and 3 kids). The hiking trails were great for the kids and well maintained. The adults really liked the deck which allowed us to visit while still keeping an eye on the kids as they played around the pond. We're already planning our return trip.
Owner response:We added extra trails around the creek this year and it has been a huge hit. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

This was our second year holding our church ladies retreat at Highrock Preserve and it was better than the first. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed walking the trails on the property and jumping over the creek. It is close enough to take a day trip for shopping in Black Mountain, or heading to Chimney Rock and dinner at Lake Lure. We were excited to get to see a black bear this year as we were heading down to the pond for a fire. We stayed in and played games and laughed ourselves silly. We plan to go back again next year!
Owner response:Glad your church ladies had fun. We love to host repeat renters in our cabins. Look forward to seeing you again next year!

My family very much enjoyed staying at this lovely home! The house was comfortable in every way and had everything we needed to get started on a relaxing mountain vacation. The home included all the ammenities, comfortable furnishings and personal touches that made us feel right at home! It felt so good to see our children enjoy the grounds, including the pond, trails and grassy areas. We could relax and watch them from the beautiful front porch or go and play with them! We have wonderful memories of bonfires and smore making, trail walking and rocking on the porch. Highly recommed to anyone for a peaceful getaway!

The pictures of the property accurately reflected what this property looks like. The owners were extremely helpful assisting with any of our needs. We rent a lot of cabins because we travel with our two dogs and like the yard for them to run around. This cabin is by far one of the best. It was so clean that you could not tell they allow pets. It was a nature beauty and so close to town.

The trails, creeks, pond and meadow area are a nature's delight. We enjoy the serenity while still being so close to town (only 10 minute drive). We will be back!

Had a fabulous week. The cabin was clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Very relaxing to sit on the rockers on the front porch and enjoy the spectacular view. Several hiking trails that are clearly marked are on the property and a pond with an adjacent firepit. The nearby town of Black Mountain had lots of quaint shops and really good restaurants. Definitely recommending this as a wonderful place to stay. Looking forward to another stay.

Our family of 4 married couples came down to visit another brother and sister inlaw who live in black mountain. The property and cabin where clean and beautiful. We had a great time in the area. The Blue Ridge Parkway was awesome, the folk art center and Mount Mitchell are highly recommended. The quaint town of Black Mountain was really fun. The Pisgah Brewing Company was really great. Loved the openness of the brewery and fire pit! The cabin fire pit was great as was the hot tub. Would definately come back some day. Thanks for sharing your cabin, great place to stay.

We are from Ohio/Pennsylvania, we needed a place to stay in Black Mountain for a wedding. We were fortunate to find High Rock Preserve. The price was right and the cabins were beyond belief. Everything we needed was there. It is beautiful and very well kept. We had relatives that stayed near by and they were in awe over our cabin. There are three very nice size bedrooms and plenty of extra room. The three bathrooms made it so comfortable for all of us. The hot tub was a perfect way to end your day. We walked thru the trails on the property and enjoyed every minute. The little island in the pond with a fire pit was perfect. We were able to visit the towns of Black Mountain, Asheville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. All only minutes away. I would recommend these rental units to everyone. We will be back!! Thanks to the Mansell Family for sharing such wonderful cabins.
Owner response:We appreciate your raving review. We are glad to hear that the cabin was well stocked with everything you needed! We continue to add items and make improvements. Thank you, owners.

My 10-year-old daughter spent two weeks in the large cabin with extended family in July of 2010. She wanted me to share her experience. She says that this is a great place to visit for kids. She had fun roasting marsh mellows over the fire pit. She loved exploring the trail through the woods on the property and playing in the creek. She especially loved visiting the amazing trails and waterfalls nearby. She says she plans to go back some day and thinks that it is the perfect vacation spot for any family.

School just ended and I was looking for a vacation spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors with my three children and my sister-in-law's family. We rented the two cabins on the property together and had a blast. There was plenty of grass area for the kids to run around and play games during the day, and for us to sit on the deck at night looking at the stars and the lighted fountain. We even saw 2 dear drinking water from the pond. The bonfire fire pit was a family favorite gathering spot. And, of course the kids loved the game room with fooseball and air hockey. The cabins were spectaclularly clean and fully equipped. We plan to come back next year for a full week.

Our two familys (5+4) had a wonderful time. The cabin has all of the modern amenities, and the sleeping accommodations are very comfortable. The property is also really nice, especially the outdoor firepit. There are a couple of nice trails on the property - perfect for younger kids because they're not very long. If you are looking for longer/more aggressive hiking, do some research to find some local trails.
Owner response:We enjoy hearing that our guests had a wonderful time and enjoyed the trails on the property. If you are looking for longer trials, we recommend Chimney Rock or Montreat trails, both 20 minutes from our property as well as many others in the area.

We loved the trails through the woods, the nearby creek and pond, the fire pit, and the air hockey downstairs. We really enjoyed our week in the cool mountains of North Carolina in this spacious, well thought out log cabin. It was great for the 9 of us--four adults and five children-- and the children took over the lower floor and we relaxed on the upper most of the time! Great place to visit with cousins. We loved the trails and wading stream, catching salamanders and tadpoles, making S'mores, and the easy drive to area attractions. A wonderful get away! Claire

The log cabin and property are amazing. You thought of everything to make our vacation comfortable and memorable, both inside the cabin and on the property. The cabin is close enough to activities, yet, secluded enough to provide an escape from the "outside world". We highly recommend Lawrence’s Loft as a vacation getaway and would not hesitate to come back.

My family and I stayed in the cabin over the July 4th weekend. We have stayed in a few different cabins throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains and this by far was the best. The cabin is brand new and so is everything inside. It was like living in a model home; beautifully decorated and very comfortable. My favorite part was having coffee in the morning on the porch looking out over the pond and fountain. Very relaxing! The cabin had a binder full of great suggestions and attractions in the area. We could stay at the cabin and relax and unwind or just travel about 10 minutes to grocery stores, cute shops and nice restaurants. We had a great time and would highly recommend it!

We have stayed in many cabins in the Western Carolinas over the years; however, this was by far the nicest. It's brand new and close to all the conveniences you may need as well as being conveniently located to many attractions and outdoor adventures. The cabin has a warm homey feeling and has all the items you may need. My kids loved playing in the yard and hiking to the creek. I felt safe letting my kids out to play because the property is fenced in. My husband and like to sit on the porch or in the hot tub while our kids liked to play air hockey or fuseball in the game room. In the evening we watched movies as a family from the many DVD movies to select from. How convenient...how relaxing.....how fun....We can't wait to go back!

Our family and friends visited this cozy getaway over the holiday and left with unforgetable memories. This spacious home has all the amenities that one could ask for not to mention the view is fantastic. There is a pond view from the home with a walk trail right outside the door that is absoutely amazing. It is conveniently located to the local food stores and other shops. I would definately plan on visiting this lovely cabin again! Thanks for the wonderful memories.
