We had a wonderful time at your house at Notson Terrace. Without a doubt it was our best Florida vacation ever. The house was very comfortable and well furnished. We felt bad when we arrived to discover that there had been an electrical fire that started with the low voltage wiring for the lights outside the lanai. There was a gaping hole in the screen. After a quick call to Doug on the day we arrived - he knew about it already from the pool cleaner - a repairman was dispatched the very next day to repair it all. Our vacation was not impacted at all. Doug and Felicia's quick response to our questions about the pool heater and house furnace we so helpful. I would recommend this house to just about anyone. It is so nice there and so close to great shops and restaurants. All of our friends who were vacationing near us came over for a visit soon after we arrived came over to see "our" house and all agreed we had a great place to stay. Thanks again, Doug and FeliciaRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay. The home is not elegant but very comfortable. The location was convenient and the lot the home sits on is wonderful. They do indeed have the best sunset views. The neighborhood is very quiet - even on New Year Eve - which was exactly what we wanted. The owner was very helpful and always answered his cell. The need to call him was minimal as the instructions he sent and left for us were great. All in all, it was a great value for our money. I would not hesitate to stay again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This home was well equipt and very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were great and we spent a lot of time in the "birdcage", including sunset-candlelight dinners with our friends. It was a great central location for exploring Fort Meyers, Venice, Naples, Sarasota and Punta Gorda. Even when my two siblings and their spouses came for a week there was plenty of room for all to enjoy. We rode our bikes to the grocery store as well as other places on Tamiami Trail...the best of both worlds! We recommend!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Every year our family meets up with our friends in Florida somewhere and this year we stayed at this wonderful spot in Port Charlotte. It was apparent from the time we walked in the door that this was not just a rental property to the owners, it was somewhere they enjoy to stay. The kitchen unlike most rentals was filled with cooking supplies and equipment, you could tell many fine meals were prepared there. The pool area was clean, rolled towels, sunscreen, bug spray and other essentials were placed out with care like a high end hotel. The newly renovated baths were gorgeous, lots of love went into them and the beds were more comfortable (great sheets too) than one could hope for. This place isn't a palace, it's a home and so comfortable we felt like it was ours. The newly added firepit and sunset viewing area is an amazing addition, much kudos on the work. Our experience in Port Charlotte was a good one, grocery stores and supplies were just around the corner, we caught snook, speckled trout and redfish a 2 minute boat ride from the house. The boat ramp was nearby and we kept the bay boat tied to the small dock in front of the house without a problem (it is shallow at low tide). We would not hesitate to rent there again although we pick a different city each year this place made us reconsider the nomadic nature of our vacations.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Kevin and family, Thank you so much for the positive feedback on our home! We're very glad you enjoyed your stay and it's great to hear some good "fish stories" as well. We look forward tro hosting your next family vacation when you decide to return to the Port Charlotte area! -D & F

Doug thank you for working with me and my family on such short notice to rent your vacation home. We have rented several homes while vacationing in Florida and I have to say your's was the best we have stayed in. We were never bored with all the amenities you offered and the setting outside your back yard was relaxing and very enjoyable to use. Thank you again for making our trip to Florida a little more memorable.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was a pleasure to help you out on short notice Ariana! Thanks for your kind words. Please come back and visit us again if you come through the P{ort Charlotte area!

For the second year in a row we stayed at the Tannehill home in Port Charlotte. Last year we stayed for a week and thought how wonderful it would be to stretch it out two weeks. We were able to do that this year and the stay was wonderful. Doug and Felicia have made sure to have everything anyone could want or need at the home for their vacation. We love the area and each day spent there is another day in paradise. I would recommend this rental for anyone at anytime.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time relaxing over two weeks - making use of all the facilities. Starting from sunrise with jumping fish and a cuppa on the dock through heat of the day floating in the pool to the sunset either by firelight or immersed in the hot tub. Doug was really helpful and friendly from start to finish and it really felt as if he wanted to help and please. We have stayed in some really nice and newer properties elsewhere in Florida but somehow they lack the homeliness and comfort that this has and is much more to our liking. There was everything we needed and we were all dissappointed to leave.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Many thanks to you Sam and Andy for taking such great care of our home during your stay! We hope to see you again on your next visit back across the pond!

Each year since 2004, we have rented in the Port Charlotte area for the month of March. This year, we stayed at Doug and Felicia's. It was, by far, our most relaxing Florida month yet! We spent many hours simply enjoying the canal views, jumping fish, soaring Bald Eagles, serenading Osprey, and the Little Blue Heron making it's hunting pass along the canal wall! Being a birder, I recorded 33 different species of birds right from the backyard "Oasis". The "Oasis" was my/our favorite spot. With my morning mug of tea or coffee, I would sit and let the day begin around me! And, nighttime with the firepit burning and favorite beverage in hand, watch the sun go down on another wonderful day! Our grandchildren enjoyed the pool, hot tub, pool table, and dart board. We didn't try the bocci court. We'll do that in March 2012 because I've already reserved this peaceful retreat for that month already! If you are considering staying at this home, do it! You will not regret it. Thanks, Doug and Felicia, for a truly wonderful, relaxing month! We just returned home to feet of snow and very cold weather. First vacation where we have not wanted to leave. The house was just as advertised and perfect for our plans. We stayed the entire month of January and our kid/grandkids visited over MLK weekend and had a blast. Doug answered any questions we had promptly and was very accomodating to us. The sun, and we had a lot of it, comes around to the lanai and hits the pool from about noon until sunset and keeps everything warm and toasty. The access to route 41 will get you anywhere you want to go with ease. By the time we left we knew our way around like natives. Luigi's may have the best pizza in the south and is right around the corner. When the whole crew was here we went there for dinner and had 9 all together, including two youngsters and a baby. They took great care of us. We REALLY hope we get a chance to go back sometime soon. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax and enjoy SW Florida.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Tom and Betty, It's great to have visitors like you who take such great care of our home! Thank you so much for your kind words. Please come back any time. It would be a pleasure to have you! -Doug & Felicia

Just a note to say thank you for one of the best Florida vacations we ever had. After renting homes for vacation and not having much luck with owners the Tannehills were a breath of fresh air. They were easily accessible and make every effort to make our stay great! The home was spotless (fresh flowers on the dining room table) and the grounds perfect. Relaxing inside the wonderful lanai, shopping, dining out or night life around the area was right outside our door. We are already dreaming about our next vacation at the Tannehill home.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We always appreciate our renters leaving our home in such great shape! Gary, Linda, Carla and Kenny, you are welcome back any time! Thanks!

Stayed at the Tannehills' place for the month of January -- love it and hope to return again. Hot tub was great on the cooler days. Sunsets from the dock were memorable. The Tannehils had everything ready and waiting for us. All you need is your clothes and leave the rest to them. Certainly loved the WII game and the wine cooler was a plus.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We spent Christmas 2009 at the Tannehills' home. There were 8 of us and we had a great time. Lots of space for everyone and we didn't lack for anything. The hot tub was a big hit.Our daughter's comment was, "Wow, this is the best VRBO I've seen!" She has used VRBO in several cities. The new bathrooms certainly have WOW factor. Can't wait to see what the Tannehills will improve next.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Doug & Felicia: I just wanted to write and say thank you so much for allowing my family and I the use of your vacation home. We had such a terrific time. The house was so warm and inviting. The kids really loved the pool, hot tub, pool table, and most of all the Wii video game system. We already miss it. Thanks again and god bless you and your family.Did you find this review helpful?
