My husband and I have just returned from an absolutely perfect vacation in this beautiful home. The location is gorgeous. We have never had a more relaxing vacation. Everything you need is in this home. We enjoyed the use of the pontoon and took many trips up river to Mullett Lake. Such a pretty ride. To our amazement, we saw a bald eagle twice on our trip up Black River. I was even able to get a picture on my cell phone. Thank you so much for allowing to stay in your beautiful home.
Owner response:There is a saying something like "its not the destination but the journey that counts" but in this case it is both. The Black River & the Cheboygan River are spectacular & then you get to Mullet Lake and beyond. Until you have experienced it there is no way to explain it! It is almost magical how you can unwind & enjoy the surrounding natural elements.

This home has all the amenities... and a boat! Our trip was fantastic. Our days were spent enjoying the pontoon that was included, swimming in the river, and occasional site seeing in downtown Cheboygan and Mackinac island. In the evening, we relaxed in the hot tub overlooking the river and "vegged" to a movie on the large screen tv and surround sound. The owners were very always available when we had questions and very pleasant. There are several steps leading down to the river and, as the owners told us before hand, there isn't really a place for young kids to go into the water. That wasn't a concern for our family, but should be considered for families with younger children. Plan for peaceful times when you are at the cabin and fun-filled days boating on the black river!
Owner response:We are so appreciative of your kind words! The trip up & down the river are amazing for both the young & the young at heart. Children love the outdoors & this is the outdoors at its best!

Our trip included my husband & I, 80 year old father in-law & 4 teenagers and we all agreed that our week was the best vacation ever! The home was wonderful, the pictures on website are really nice but really aren't able to fully show the beautiful home. Everything was clean- beautiful landscaping too. The inside was tastefully decorated, fully-equipped, beautiful views, peaceful...we love to cook & were thrilled with the kitchen lay out, supplies and the incredible grill. Everyone enjoyed the pontoon, fishing & hot tub. I was a little worried about the teens getting bored in the slower pace of Cheboygan. However, we mixed up our days with trips to Mackinaw Island, Indian River (rafting) and the UP which gave us an excellent mix of laid back & lazy with bike riding, zip lining & rafting. This mom and "vacation coordinator" got a big thank you from everyone for finding this home! thank you to the Snyders for providing an excellent vacation spot!
Owner response:The pleasure was ours! We love sharing everything that Northern Michigan has to offer. If you have never been here, you don't know what you are missing!

Beautiful house and setting. Two families stayed for a week and loved the house. There really was something for everybody. We fished, played games on the large kitchen table and just sat on the deck enjoying the serenity. The teenagers walked to the park, played tennis and, of course, loved the WiFi. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to lower their blood pressure and get away from the hustle and bustle, yet be within a half hour of the traditional "up north" vacation stops..
Owner response:We appreciate the kind words that reinforce our feelings on the home & area. There is so much to do that is good, clean, wholesome fun for all ages. Thanks for staying with us!

We just returned from a week long stay at this home. It was beyond peaceful and relaxing there. The spot on the river is very calming and there is no noise around to bother you. The cabin is very spacios and exactly as described, clean and well stocked with lines, dishes, etc. There was more than enough room for our family. While there we also rented the pontoon which we really enjoyed. Our fishing wasn't great but the kids enjoyed trying for them. We took several relaxing rides down the river while we were there too. You are close enough to Mackinaw and it is actually a pretty drive to get there too. We made several trips over during our week long stay. Mary and her husband were ever so helpful with giving us tips on what to do in the area, my husband enjoyed having someone to chat with too. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!!!
Owner response:It is our pleasure to share our home! We have enjoyed meeting the nicest folks from all across the country. Our place on the Black River in Cheboygan is like a secret hideaway from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. There is plenty to do if you want or just sit back & enjoy all that nature has given us. We are happy to hear that your family really enjoyed their vacation!

If anyone is looking for a peacefull get a way this is the place. The owners are the most pleasant people and was so helpfull when we needed a question answered. The huse is just like you see in the picture, just beautiful inside & out. They have everything you need, just bring yourself & luggage the rest is there. We caught alot of fish right off the dock, went tubbing in river, the warm hot tub with all the view of nature, otters, eagles, & we saw deer come & get a drink. The beds were so comfortable you didn't want to get out of bed! The long covered porch with rockers was so nice to sit. The pictures tell all, so many things to say, but you have to stay here & will want to come back! We are making plans already. I really cried when we got home because we really loved this place, & wanted to go right back!
Owner response:Thank you to all who stayed with us this year & wrote all the great reviews. By reading our them I am sure that you have figured out that we are not the typical vacation rental. We go the extra mile to be sure you have a very enjoyable time. It is almost like walking into the home of a family member where you feel welcome & completely relaxed. In 2011 we are including our pontoon boat in the weekly rate so everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy the waterways. There was new TV episode about Cheboygan at "Under the Radar-Michigan" on PBS. In July episode #1028 on the Inland Waterways aired on "Michigan Out of Doors". Both episodes can be viewed online for a glimpse of the area. Be sure & book early so you don't miss out on your favorite week!

We had a wonderful stay in the Cheyboygan area. The home was fantastic. It is so much more relaxing to enjoy a vacation staying in a nice home. We commented several times how nice it was. This was our first trip to northern Michigan and we loved every bit of it. The small towns are beautiful with all of the flowers and are kept so clean. The people were so friendly. We will come back again!

This is our second vacation at this home,,, it has everything you could think of as listed. Very private area on the river no people around, we must have seen the whole week 4 boats and the fishing is the best around Bass , Perch, Blue gill . ( not small fish but very nice size right on the river) we even had a pike right under the boat dock at least 24 plus inches,, my son went fishing off the dock and was catching nice size bass. The family took a nice trip to Mullet Lake on the pontoon we rented with the home and enjoyed a 45min cruise to the lake where we went swimming in the nice sandy beach where you can drop anchor and enjoy. We have tried many homes and fished on various lakes and rivers but this home comes in first place for all activities and area attractions are so close for all ages. This is a must do!!!!

Wonderful home in a fun area for boating, shopping, and relaxing! Home has all the luxuries you could need and then some. Hot tub is amazing overlooking the river! Cheboygan has neat restaurants and shops and Mackinaw is always a good time for all. The boat ride to Mullett lake is about 45 minutes to an hour from this location but is well worth it as it is one of the most beautiful lakes around! We traveled the Inland Waterway to as far as Burt lake and were so glad we did. It was a blast! Jim and Mary are woderful hosts and have everything in order when you arrive. This is a great vacation rental!

What a wondeful home. We found VBRO a number of years ago and have not been disappointed. This house was absolutely perfect for our summer vacation. The kitchen in this home is fabulous - appliances are top of the line. We enjoyed cooking our dinners and eating around the table. Despite being on vacation I needed to contact my office a couple times and this was easy with great wireless Internet available in the home. Our stay was easy because the owners have taken the time to put together a great 3 ring binder which answered all of our questions throughout the week. The owners have thought of everything to make our stay as carefree as possible. The deck, hotub and river view are out of this world. Our kids enjoyed the dock, the island and swimming in the river. One night we had a fire in the firepit. It was a great time for our family. Thanks for the memories!

You read descriptions of properties and they all seem like the best thing ever. Well, this IS the best thing ever. The house is only about 5 years old and has been treated very nicely. The descriptions are all totally correct. New appliances. Flat screens in every bedroom as well as the family room. They describe one neighbor that is close. Actually it's a house next door that is, and has been, under construction for a long time. No need to keep your voices down here. Pet lovers...it's your place. The indoor kennel is already there. There is a doggy door that leads to a fenced area outside. The layout of the house is great. The gas grill on the porch costs more than my first car. Pots, pans, dishes, utensils...don't bring a thing. A small store is 3/10 of a mile down the road as well as one of the nicest playgrounds. In the middle of nowhere. I believe I caught all 18 varieties of fish described. All from the dock. They supply the firewood which is mostly cedar and really seasoned. I believe you can start your fire with just a match with no need for kindling. Close to golf, shopping, Mackinaw Island, tubing/rafting/kayaking down the river. One morning we were sitting on the porch with our coffee from the Bunn coffee maker just watching the world (river) go by when a bald eagle flew by and perched in a tree just up river. After watching for about tem minutes he left his perch, swooped down and plucked his breakfast from the river. Now that's not anything you'll see living in the city. There were 7 of us (plus the 80 lb golden retriever) staying here and we were not crowded in the least. All of us would recommend this place to anybody without reservations. Jim and Mary were great to work with also.

We have rented on Great Rentals/HomeAway since inception. This home has exceeded many of the great places we have stayed in. The flow of the home is just wonderful & we were wowed by the ammenities. All pet owners will find this an exceedingly pet friendly home. I would get up & let our Shih Tzu's out into the fenced-in area while I got the coffee going. We prefer to travel to other areas and not return to the same spot each vacation year. This home will be always be: Let's go back to the Black River home!

Very nice home on the water. This place had everything you could think of to make our stay one of the best we've had anywhere. From the fully loaded kitchen to the doggy door, Jim and Mary have all the bases covered and then some. The fishing in the river was good for nice sized smallies from 12" to 18" and small pike, but we did have a couple of 28-30 inch pike on. Bringing a boat or renting the pontoon is a must. We highly recommend this property and you couldn't ask for nicer people to deal with.

We spent a week at this beautiful home. We enjoyed top of the line appliances in the kitchen (some I didn't know existed) the best view, a great accommodations. Mary & Jim were great to accommodate our dog. The dog door and the enclosed porch is perfect for pet or children! Our teenagers loved the wi-fi and the electronies. Reserve now if available (and rent the pontoon - it's a great way to see the water!)
